Product Customer Reviews

I’ve worn these boots a few times now hoping each time they’ll soften up a bit more but no luck. I’ve just got really bad blisters! They are waterproof but that about all they’ve got going for them.
I’ve had mine for more than 3 years and have done lots of hiking in the Pyrenees and the Alps, scrambling in the Anti-Atlas, walking in the sandy Wadi Rum desert, as well as some trekking in Iceland and countless wet and muddy hikes in the UK. They never let me down and keep my feet dry and comfortable. They are now slowly coming to an end of their life so I’ll probably be buying another pair soon!
I've just purchased a new pair of these boots. My old pair is over 2 years old and has been worn on many hikes in Britain and The Alps. I have not particularly looked after my boots and only rubbed some dubbin on the leather once. I have also dried them near the fire on a few occasions, which isnt usually considered to be good for the leather, but they still never let me down. I found the boots very comfortable from the beginning and for me they never needed breaking in. The fit isn't as narrow as some of the other decathlon boots, which is good when your feet are slightly wider. The boots have always been waterproof. The only times my feet got wet is when I have stood in calf deep bog and the water ran in through the top or when it rained so much that the water ran in via my ankles and I wasn't wearing waterproofs. Neither of these examples is a problem with the actual boot of course. The boots have a decent grip. I have walked on wet and hard terrain and found them to have good grip. In the snow the grip was excellent too. Not so much on icy surfaces but other boots would have the same issue. I wore these boots during a rodelling (toboggan) session down an Austrian mountain whilst on a skiing holiday, which understandably reduced the grip. Overall this is a fantastic walking boot and I would highly recommend! I really battered my shoes and they held up very well.
I had to take these back, I tried to break them in. Walked round town a few times, then a 14 mile hike and a week later a 16 mile walk. I don't know how I got through the 14 mile one. The pain in my little toes was unreal. The nails went black on both. I packed the shoes out afterwards with newspaper around the little toe area to stretch the leather too. The 16 mile walk I put blister pads on, I waa prepared but yet again, absolute ridiculous pain in the little toe area. I had to return them. It's a shame, I think they are just too narrow. I do not have wide feet either. I had Brasher's for 15 years, no blisters, no pain. Fit like a glove. I think I learned a lesson, get your boots from specialist outdoor footwear maker
Product advertised as highly waterproof but walking in short wet grass for 10 mins and my socks were wet! Back to the shop with them. Waste of money
I bought these boots over a year ago and have worn them almost every day whether dog walking, hiking in mountains over wet ground, up rock and in most hiking situations. They have been fully waterproof and have remained so. I treated them at the start but now they are so scuffed I don’t even bother but they are still totally waterproof- feet in a stream at the weekend and still no,water got in! They look good and we’re comfortable from the start with no breaking in period. I am only very disappointed that the sthe les have worn down as the uppers are fine so I will have to get another pair I suppose. The soft rubber has got good grip so that is the price you have to pay.
Extremely happy, very good quality would recommend to anyone looking for this product
great boot can wear all day no problem
This is the second pair of these boots I’ve purchased. I use them twice a day to walk my dog at the park. The first pair I had for a year, the uppers are still great keeping my feet warm and dry but the soles are worn down so no longer suitable for purpose, which is very disappointing but as they were so comfortable I purchased the same boots again, the design has changed slightly and I am hoping that the composition of the sole has been improved so not to wear down so quickly.
.
Summary: very good value for money but I might go for higher specs boots if I was hiking more regularly in wet conditions (sole being too slippery, the body is very waterproof though!) Just took my new pair to a 2-days hike in the Peak District: I'm very happy with the overall comfort of the boots climbing up and down hills and for a moderately long walk (about 30km total in 2 days). Especially happy with the ankle support, and that the tightness of the shoe can be adjusted at different levels with the ankle rivets. No blisters or chafing! The only downside would be the grip on stones/rocks: the weather being pretty wet, I found that I was slipping a lot on bare rock (much more than my friend who was just wearing trainers!). Because the sole is very rigid, it felt that the grip was much more unstable than I would be comfortable with... I don't know if this is just because the boots were brand new and that will get better over time, but I would now maybe look for a sole that allows more flexibility for these kind of terrains.
I bought these shoes as I decided I would start walking in the country side. With the English weather I wanted something multipurpose. I am usually size 6.5 but went for size 7 with these shoes to allow extra room for my toes especially when wearing thick walking socks. I am very pleased with these shoes so far, I wore them inside my house to check they were not painful, then wore them twice for 2 short walks of about 20 minutes and 1 hour over 2 weeks and yesterday walked about 10 miles in the country and my feet felt great at the end of the day. No blister or nasty pain, only tired after having made an effort new to them. I trust them to be reliable and hopefully they will be in the future. I could feel they were protecting my ankles when walking on uneven ground and felt I could step anywhere safely.
These are easily the best boots Ive ever owned. They were comfortable from the very first wear. They are very sturdy and supportive and light at the same time. I wear them for hiking and for everyday dog walking. Buying a second pair simply because I'm worried they'll stop making them!
I brought my wife these boots about a month ago now. She loves them , they took very little breaking in and have kept her feet dry and warm in freezing temperatures. They are well made and the quality of the wholegrain leather is very good. A good alternative to more expensive brands and just as good at the job.
these boots were extremely comfortable even from first wear and so far are totally waterproof. I love them!

Footwear waterproofing test.
Tested in laboratory and in use, these boots, equipped with a Waterproof membrane, will ensure optimal waterproofing and breathability. First, the boot is immersed in water while internal air pressure is applied to check that no bubbles form on the surface of the footwear. Next, the boots are fitted to a mechanical arm that simulates walking and half-immersed in water so we can test that the inside remains perfectly dry.
3 levels of waterproofing.
In the waterproofing test, we test 3 levels of waterproofing: 2000 flexions (approx. 2.5-mile walk), 4000 flexions (approx. 5-mile walk) 8000 flexions (approx. 10-mile walk). Of course, after this test or use, as soon as the product is dry, the shoe regains its original waterproof properties.
Footwear waterproof rating.
The TREK 500 W boot has passed the waterproofing test involving 8000 flexes, i.e. 10 miles of walking in water up to the middle of the upper.
Laboratory tests
Laboratory tests were conducted to test the following elements: - secure attachment of eyelets and hooks - sole assembly - toxicology - UV resistance - abrasion of the sole and upper components - accelerated aging.
Care instructions
Use a brush and/or sponge to clean the shoe and remove dirt or mud residue. Then, air-dry away from a heat source. Finish with a nourishing cream to keep the leather nice and flexible and prolong the lifespan of the shoe.
Buying tips
Try on both shoes, standing up, with socks worn for hiking. Try several models and sizes if necessary. Check 2 comfort points: the heel fit and the front of the foot on a downward slope. Avoid any pressure points when fitting. Don't hesitate to walk around the store. Gradually wear in your boots during your first few hikes to break them in.
Manufacturing
The TREK 500 shoes are made in the European Union, in Romania. Most materials are sourced in European Union.

Imported
Product testing
All of our shoes are tested for initial comfort and comfort during use, by users who represent the target market, and under the same conditions as you would encounter in use. In particular, our "Mission Tests" bring together the product manager with people who aren't affiliated with QUECHUA to test, improve and validate our products.
Storage instructions
Store away from moisture in a ventilated room.
Care instructions
Use the brush and/or sponge to clean the shoe and remove dirt or mud residue. Always brush in the same direction to give nubuck its original look. The use of cream or waterproof grease on split leather is not recommended. This is not problematic in itself, but it would change the shoe's esthetic look.
