Comfortable but not waterproof

These boots provided a lot of comfort and it took only one day of wear to break in. No blistering experienced. I wore this boots in the last 2 weeks from today in Tanzania, climbing Mt Kilimanjaro. However the problem i came across wearing these boots was that it is not waterproof. Water soaked through when I got caught walking through a 2 hour hail/rain storm on the mountain. I had to wear ziplock bags on my feet after this to keep feet dry, however because they were wet this made my body very very cold and shivering. Luckily thr next day was sunny so i could dry my boots before thr next part of the hike.

Highly recommended

Very good shoes, I did a very hard trek in Indonesia with them and they are very comfy and resistant. No pain even when wearing them for the first time

Great value boots

My wife's feet now stay warm and dry.

Durable & comfortable

I am about to replace these boots having used them solidly for 2 years. I checked the rating and they are aimed at "Regular" users & I'm definitely someway past regular use. They've been up mamy mountains and in many bogs. I have looked after them well and re-waterproofed them along the way. The boot itself has slouched after two years but is to be expected after the use I've given them. I did consider just buying another pair of these but given the amount of hiking I do, I will be upgrading to a more intense boot however I will stick with Quechua.

Down to earth

Early days yet to comment on durability, but wearing well so far. Very supportive to the user.

Very uncomfortable

I've had these boots for around a year now. I've worn them on several occasions. For the first couple of uses they with wearable, if a little uncomfortable after a couple of miles. and I put that down to being new. However they seems to have become more uncomfortable with use. I have tried a couple of different removable cushion soles to see if that helps. Unfortunately not.

comfortable but has a big design mistake

The hooks on the side of the shoes are widely open. The lace of one shoe hooked up on the other shoe's hook and I fell down badly and injured my knee and palm. It is not something I could have foreseen. The hooks must have been designed as closed. The shoes are comfortable but I am worried when I am wearing them.

Most painful shoes I've ever worn

Went on a hiking holiday. Did a few small walks to break them in on flat ground & boots seemed to be ok. Walked round the Cotswolds & by the second day I was hobbling. Walking down slopes was agonising, no support to my ankles at all. I had bruises on them as I was trying to tighten the laces to stop my feet sliding. My toe nail on one foot is now black due to the continued hitting against the end of the boot. These were the comfiest pair I tried on in the shop but turns out they were a complete waste of ÂŁ70 as I can't wear them again. Two other people on the trip were both wearing Quercher shoes & they love them. These boots are definitely not for people with narrow ankles!!

Great boots

So good for the price definitely recommend comfortable light weight, they really are perfect

Perfect hiking boots

Giving 4 stars only as I've only used them today so don't know how long they will last but so far after a 12km walk in Aberdeenshire they have been amazing. After looking everywhere for boots that actually looked waterproof I came accross Decathlon and found these ones (in general many say waterproof but they have some sort of meshy fabric that there is no chance those will be waterproof. At least my previous boots from Sports Direct weren't). I normally wear 5.5-6UK size shoes. For walking boots I'd normally go a size bigger as I wear very thick wool socks for my walks but with this ones I got a 6UK and they are perfect. I'd say they run half size bigger than normal. Some people in comments below complain about some ankle pain.. wtf I mean you're either wearing them super tight or I dont know what you're doing. They are very comfortable and they kept me dry the whole walk. Great grip so didn't slip once. It was very moody outside but they are still as new. Again, I don't know how they will be in heavy rainy weather or in big poodles but so far I'm very happy with them!

Comfortable when first on, painful after a day or

Bought these because I work on my feet at outdoor events. Previously had Karrimors and read these were similar and had a voucher for Decathlon who weren't stocking Karrimor, but sadly they're not a patch on my old pair. The soles are just much harder, resulting in my feet getting sore that much quicker. I don't feel as supported in them as I did in my old shoe and think the toe box is definitely smaller. They're okay for short hikes, maybe up to 8 or so miles, but really not good for long days or multiple days.

Killed my feet!

Bought these to climb Snowdon in as my previous boots had started to break. Tried them on at my local store and seemed ok. Broke them in walking inside and around my local area before the trip as recommended by staff. However when I started the Snowdon hike I could feel the rocky terrain through the boot, a very worrying sign. My toes were very pinched too even though I bought a size up. Offered no ankle support what’s so ever and the sole grip is poor and I found myself slipping. Now 2 days after my feet are still incredibly sore, And as an active person who runs and hikes regularly this is completely unusual for me and I definitely think it’s the boots. Would not recommend and wished I’d gone for a more known brand.

Footwear waterproofing test.

Our Field Test Missions team up the product manager with people who aren't affiliated with QUECHUA, to test, improve, and validate our products. Next, shoes are fitted to a mechanical arm that simulates walking and half immersed in water so we can test that the inside remains perfectly dry.

3 levels of waterproofing.

Lab tests

Buying tips

Try on both boots, standing up, with the socks worn for hiking.Try several models and various sizes if necessary.Check two comfort points: the heel seating (the heel does not or hardly slips) and the front of the foot on a downward slope (the toes do not touch the front of the boot).Avoid all pressure points when trying shoes on.Don't hesitate to walk around the store. Break in your boots gradually during their first hikes to adapt them to your foot.

Care tips

Use a brush to clean the boot and remove any dirt or mud. Always brush in the same direction to give nubuck its original look. The use of cream or waterproof grease on split leather is not recommended. While it will not damage the leather, it will change the look of your boots.

Product testing

All our boots are tested for initial comfort and comfort in use by typical users under the same conditions you will encounter yourself. Our Missions Tests link the product manager up with people who are not affiliated to Quechua to test, develop and approve the products.
