Questions & Answers

Look for product information, frequently asked questions, opinions...

Question:

My antishock pole is locked with the antishock deactivated. How do I activate the antishock feature.

Answer:

The anti-shock system is an extra spring in the stick expander. This can be "activated" or "deactivated" depending on whether you want a stick that cushions impacts with the ground or a more rigid classic stick. Disable the system To lock the spring in the inactive position, you must tighten the expander until you feel a "click". This noise indicates that the system is blocked. Anti-shock deactivation To activate the system, do not immediately loosen the strands. Otherwise, you will loosen the expander without having unlocked the shock absorber. You must first continue to tighten 1/2 turn, then loosen in the opposite direction. You will again feel a “click”, indicating that the bumper is unlocked. As you lean on your stick, you should feel the spring working. For more information: https://support.decathlon.fr/comment-faire-fonctionner-le-systeme-antichoc-de-mon-baton

The betting system…

The anti-shock implementation system can be improved... If you deactivate it (to have a rigid stick), it is very difficult to put it back on. You have to tighten the adjustment system like crazy (as hard as you can) for it to be good, and then it's a hassle to loosen the stick to bend it... See you again!

From the first time they were used I noticed problems with the anti-shock which stopped working on the fourth ride. Used 6-7 times I had to throw them away

It was a shame that the snow palette was not available.

Hello. I have been using the product for 2 years. It did the job even in the most difficult conditions (walking through 1 meter deep snow). I was quite satisfied. Now I switched to a different brand and compared the evaluation scores. However, today we bought a new one for my wife so that she can continue with this baton. There was no snow palette inside. We didn't pay attention in the store. We noticed it at home. Since my wife is not a mountaineer like me and probably won't use it in heavy snow, we won't mind. Still, I can easily recommend the product, but I recommend that you buy it by paying attention to the snow palette.

Frequent blockage after having…

Frequent blocking after using it once, difficult or even impossible adjustments. Excessive prices.

this shop sucks

Out of 3 sticks, 2 were factory defective, with completely wrong springs, and one had a missing spring. 0% satisfaction.

I didn't like the spring mechanism at all. Even if comfort increases, the thrust is absorbed by the spring and therefore the contribution of the arms on walking is much lower

I like it very much but wish the folded size could be smaller.

A good price-performance ratio

Pole currently used for ski touring. Easy and stable adjustment. The anti-shock system can be deactivated which is a plus

Additional Product Information

Composition

Shaft: 100.0% Aluminium ; Handle: 100.0% Polyoxymethylene

How it was designed...

This model is entirely designed and approved by our team, at the foot of Mont Blanc. To fulfil the anti-shock promise, we have chosen this system with a spring integrated in the screw tightening system. We then designed a handle that enables powerful and comfortable grip whatever the position: along the tube for climbs and banking terrain, with the wrist-strap for efficient pushing and on the knob for descents.

How to adjust your poles to the correct length?

Hold the poles with your arms bent at a right angle. To do this: - unscrew the middle section, find the length of pole you want and screw back tightly- tighten further (a half turn) if you notice your pole is collapsing- do the same with the lower sectionNever go over the STOP line to avoid breaking the pole.

Directions for use

This hiking pole is designed to help you balance, propel yourself and distribute effort between arms and legs.To be on the safe side, check before you set off and at regular intervals that your baton is locked in place by simulating heavy bumps. If you notice that your pole tends to collapse then tighten it further by a half turn.Do not put on your backpack in case of a storm.

Care tips

Proper maintenance of your baton will ensure that it functions optimally and that it lasts longer. After use, if water has penetrated the stick, remove the strands and allow to dry. If necessary, clean the dust or mud with water or a dry brush. Once dry, you can reassemble the strands. We recommend that you do not attempt to oil or grease the mechanisms.

Why is the pole sold individually?

At Decathlon, we have decided to sell our hiking/trekking poles individually. First because of how they are used. Indeed, some people only want to use one pole. Also, if one of your poles breaks, this means you only have to buy one and not a complete pair.

Accessories sold separately and adapted to this model

The advantage of buying Forclaz trekking poles is that you have a wide choice of compatible accessories and spare parts. So you can enjoy it for as long as possible.Hiking pole caps: ref. 8580865Summer baskets: ref. 8737774Winter baskets: ref. 8503857Replacement tip: ref. 8577676 or 8755646 (if new screwable version)

Product testing

To set our thresholds, we have measured the stresses on the poles in the most demanding situations. During its development, each model undergoes laboratory tests that reproduce these stresses (compression, three-point bending, etc.) until it breaks. We also tests parts separately (tightening power, tearing, etc). Finally, these tests are regularly repeated in production to ensure a constant level of quality.

Storage instructions

Store the baton in a dry place without tightening the adjusting systems, so that they are not strained and retain their clamping power.
