Keep the gold side out to capture the warmth and stay warm: this combats any risk of hypothermia, preserves body heat, and protects from the wind and moisture.
Keep the Silverside out to keep cool: keeps cool (cars, tents, etc).

Younever know when you'll need it
We hiked in Mt Pulag and the temperature that time was 10°C. It was very unfortunate that I only brought a pair of THIN gloves with me and my hands were already freezing until I cannot feel anything at all. But thanks to this blanket, it saved my life from possible hypothermia. What we did is we cut it out using our hiking knife and put some of this inside my gloves and socks. I felt warm after some minutes. Ypu can use the remaining large piece of the blanket to cover your body.
I bought this for the ultra-trail marathon that I was participating in as it was part of the mandatory items. Fortunately I do not have to use it but I am sure it’ll serve it’s purpose should the need arises besides it’s value for money.
