Timely arrival

I was pleased that the bike went on sale in time for Father’s Day and it was shipped and arrived in a timely way. It’s a lovely bike. I was surprised that a bike stand was not a part of the package. It has to be ordered as an accessory.

Pedal broke off after only 2 rides

When I received the bike the front tire was flat and I had to replace the tube. While on my second ride the left pedal sheared off. This bike is junk!

Excellent bike if you're on a budget!!

Bought this bike because we are in a tight budget. Everything works great, a little bit of tuning still needed for the rear derailleur but it went together easy enough. I had no shipping damages so I was lucky I guess. Rides smooth, palm shifter is great (I've seen people complaining about gear levers compared to integrated but you get used to them quickly enough, plus they're cheap enough to upgrade). Brakes are super responsive and and the grip tape from the top bar, hoods and drops are surprisingly comfortable. Lightly treaded road tyres not gravel tyres are provided with the bike, they're not the most expensive but I'm sure they'll hold up well enough for my rides. I shaved 22 minutes off my 20 mile time compared to my old hardtail. 7 gears is maybe not enough but plenty for my needs. A tip for beginners, practice taking off the wheels and levering off the tyres to get a feel for your wheels. You'll thank me if you have a puncture in the future.

Excellent bike if you're on a budget!!

Everything that came with the bike went together perfectly. Luckily I had no shipping damages to the bike, base colour is silver which is great as I thought it was white. Get yourselves a torque wrench for putting it together as it doesn't come with one. I upgraded from a cheap 29'er Mongoose hardtail so obviously this bike will feel like a sports car compared to a truck (fastest bike I've had). The shifter is a little hard to press with just your fingers but you get used to it very quickly (I just use my whole hand as it's quicker, this part could also be upgraded to a higher spec Shimano shifter fairly cheaply). Not a bike for steep hills, although I haven't really tried it on any actual hills yet (my area is very flat). I recommend upgrading the bell it came with as no one could hear it while I was out. I also recommend park tool videos on YouTube to help with indexing the gears and make small adjustments while on a test ride to get them right. It's a great beginner road/gravel bike for the price (still the most I've ever paid for a bike but they get really expensive really fast). It also comes with lightly treaded road tyres instead of gravel tyres which isn't really much of a problem unless your gravel trails are actually very loose and rough. Drop bars are comfy and the grip feels good. I'll try and update this review after I've had the bike for a while.

do NOT buy this bike

If you're going to buy a bike, do not buy from Decathlon. If you're going to buy from Decathlon, do not buy this bike. It's falling apart after only a handful of uses. First, the pedals broke out of the crankarm treads because they were so cheaply made. Secondly, these are some of the cheapest presta nozzles I have ever seen and those broke too. Decathlon does not stand by their products or guarantee satisfaction. What a nightmare.

Loving it!

I am relatively new to cycling and I am a big guy (+300lbs) so I was worried about how this bike would turn out. I have put over 17 miles on it and I am really satisfied with it!

Good bike, bad description

I received my bike with the head tube sticking out of the box, significant paint damage to the fork, and the limiter screw for the derailleur completely bent sideways. Despite that I continued to assemble it as bikes like I was looking for are extremely hard to come by right now with the pandemic. It went together fine and luckily the derailleur didn’t need adjusting because it may not be possible with the current screw. I also did not receive the gravel tires listed in the description or the lighting kit. I still contacted decathlon to see if there was anything they could do, advising sending it back would be a last resort. They only said the bike came with slick tires now, never addressed the lights, and offered 10% back for damage. Not what I wanted to hear, $50 back won’t even cover the cost to put tires like I was needing and were already supposed to be on the bike. As far as everything else I was told the lifetime warranty still applied so we’ll see how well they handle that if it becomes necessary. All in all the bike functions fine for the price, but I still feel wronged by the inaccurate description and lack of effort in correcting it or the damage.

Dear customer. I would like to thank you for your very detailled feedback, and I would like to apologise for this bad experience when receiving this bike.

I am happy to see that our customer service reached out to you to deliver appropriate solutions and I hope you are now happy riding your Triban RC100.

Your feedback is particularly valuable for us, I would like to highlight that indeed since your review, we corrected the wrong description of our item and addressed the correct product pictures. Also, domestic shipping of our bikes is a key factor and we have reinforced our boxes and the protection of all our bikes to ensure the satisfaction of our customers and make sure that our bikes are delivered without scratches. One last thing, we are happy to now provide tools to all our bikes to help in the last steps of assembly that are usually required like pedals or aligning the stem.

I wish you wonderful rides with your RC100.

Excellent commuter and training

Really easy to put together took me 20 mins it worked perfectly out of the box. I recently sold it for a CAAD13 that’s more serious for cycling but it did very well. Wish it would’ve came with better gear shifters than the traditional thumb lever.

Great beginner road bike!

Bought the bike that a friend recommended to me. Great value for a great bike. East and smooth to ride

Best Value for Money

My experience with this is pretty good. Build- It is robust and well built. Gears- Gears are smooth reliable just the shifter is at awkward position but an integrated shifter can be bought. Tyres- I got punctured twice on my front tyre. So, I would suggest to go for Protect tyres which are more strong. Brakes - Awesome Pedals- I would say pedals could be upgraded to the metal ones which holds your feet well.

Get your toes wet on the "Roadie" pool with this.

If you are a beginner, or perhaps a returning cyclist, I can't recommend this bike enough! Right off the box, this bike has everything you need to get started with cycling. The geometry of the bike is a bit slacker and relaxed compared to traditional road bikes. It is after all, more focused on endurance riding so, it has to give you the most comfort on those long rides. The build quality is also excellent. The tires are hybrid and wide (32mm), you can use them on and off road with no issues. I Have a few complaints however, the main 1 being the gear shifter. You get an Old school Shimano 7 speed gear lever located awkwardly on the handlebar, that you tend to hit with your knee unintentionaly when you're off the saddle on climbs or sprints. Also, The gearing might not be well suited for steep climbs. You get a 12-28 at the back and one chain ring with 44 at the front.. Lastly, the weight. It’s a bit on the heavy side, 11+kg. I’ve done a few modifications on mine: I’ve replaced the shifters with proper Shimano 7 speed brake shifter levers. I’ve replaced that hefty steel fork with a full carbon one and also, I've replaced the aluminum handlebar and stem with a fully carbon integrated drop bar, shaving off 1kg which made me love riding this bike even more. I’ve taken this bike on the road and on gravel trails with no issues so far. I’m really digging the 1 chainring setup. It makes gear shifting much simpler although, I was wishing there were bigger gears whenever I got to a climb.. If you’re passionate enough with cycling, you tend to embrace the bike's shortcomings, and work with what you’ve got. This bike will make you a better rider in the long run, so use it’s limitations to your advantage. My advice is, If you get the bike, change the gear shifter right away. It will make the bike significantly better, and will put much more ease on your ride days. I’m always an advocate for passion over gear. I want to prove a point that sometimes, it’s not the expensive stuff that will make you better at what you love to do. Sometimes you find greatness in the most humblest things, and sometimes, it’s the little things in life that make you smile.

Hello John,

Thank you for taking the time to write a review on the RC 100 Road Bike.

This bike is definitely designed for beginners, men and women who wishes to try on a new sport and are interested in road cycling. It may indeed have its limitation, especially if you are loving the sport and are improving quickly ! 😊

Bikes are items easy to manipulate and do changes on. However, a quick note on the warranty that is not working anymore since changes have been made on the bike. However, do not hesitate to contact our customer service or take an appointment on our bike workshops if you ever need it.

Have a great ride! 🚴‍♀️

Simple and tobust

I bought that bike because of its simplicity. The 32'tires are very good because they have performance and don't puncture so easily as the 26'or 28'. One single speed in the front is good because that was the hardest change for mechanisms. Seven-speed is not so good but for the price is ok. The only thing that could be a real improvement is the shifter, which should be integrated with the brakes (it is not expensive to upgrade in factory, and is much more comfortable and secure, not to take hands of, only to change gear).
