Great value

Fitted my T6.1 really well made great additional space and was very easy to put up and pack away.

Great piece of kit

I use this awning on the side of my Land Rover, its so simple and set up in minutes. In a big storm today, heavy persistent rain and high winds, no problem to the kit. I am pleasantly surprised.

Good value for the money

Overall a good product. Very easy and quick to put up and to pack away and is plenty big enough for a picnic table and chairs inside. As other reviewers have said it is useless in the rain as water quickly gathers on the top and weighs it down. However we found a very workable solution was to prop up the roof with one of the poles for the porch bit. We rested one end in the drink holder of a camping chair and the other end in the middle of the roof. By doing this it held up fine during several very heavy rain and hail showers. Obviously it would be better if some sort of proper central pole was provided but given that it is much cheaper than a lot of other awnings it’s still worth buying.

Would recommend

Has been used in up to 25 mph winds & stood good awning

Excellent value for the money.

Easy to put up and down and works really well as a small weekend awning with our folding camper. Has now got roof bar supports and we had no problems with rain collecting on the roof like some previous reviews. I like that the front can be used as a canopy and the adjusters on the doors keep it nice and high when rolled up. The detachable bathtub groundsheet worked well.

Quality living room & driveaway

Not tested in the field yet cos of Lockdown :( but put up in garden very easy.. This can be used for a Drive away awning as well so Quality for the price ;) most are double if not treble the price so grad a bargain.

Great for family weekends away

Easy to setup, roomy and turns my T5 into a ready made weekend away vehicle.

Been in use for years

Fab awning for my VW T6.

Inflatable camping living room

I haven’t been able to try it out yet but I’m be seen the one my friend brought from you, I am a little disappointed that it didn’t come with a pump considering how much it cost

Handy if it doesn't rain

This is a really handy piece of equipment to add onto a tent to get extra room but sadly because there is no support in the middle it collects rain and collapses in on it self, i wanted to test it first before taking it camping in the summer so i put it up in my spacious garden i left it up and the next few days it rained and just kept collapsing in on it self. Took it back to decathlon and got a full refund, i really don't recommend in getting this but if this major problem gets fixed i would happily buy one and re write a review

No good in heavy rain

Initially I was very impressed with this setup. It stood up to some very strong winds on the Dorset coast but it doesn’t stand up to rain. Because there are only two cross beams water doesn’t run off and puddles in the middle eventually collapsing the whole thing inwards crushing and soaking anything inside. If you’re in it and able to keep pushing up under the puddle to clear it great but if you’re not then you’ll come back to total destruction as we did after a heavy downpour!! Very disappointed ☹️

Do not purchase

Come back from a holiday in Cornwall. Very impressed to start off with. Was easy to put up and take down. However, once it started raining, water pooled on the roof, and the tent collapsed. This happened even in a minimal shower. This thing really needs a centre support. I am taking it back, it is dangerous as it is. Such shame, because it stood up to high winds really easily.

Would get a 5 star rating........

1st impressions fantastic and very easy to set-up - fitted great with our camper van and price wise; potentially great value for money. So why the two stars? An extra support is needed for the centre of the awning for protection against two items - wind and rain! Wind - The awning held up surprisingly well in recent storm force winds (gusts of upto 40mph - whole campsite was suffering), however the end result was a bent pole and unfortunately Decathlon do not supply spares. Rain - The biggest let down (maybe due to the bent pole) but when we returned in the evening the whole awing was collapsing under a puddle that had somehow formed on the top of it. End result - we received a refund. Would I buy again as it stands? Unlikely. What if the product is improved? Yes definitely; a simple remedy would be to provide a fixing for each existing pole and then a pole to connect either side which would significantly strengthen the whole structure and prevent collapse from rain and probably enable the poles to maintain integrity in high winds. It may add £20 to the final price - but would then represent very good value for money. We loved this product so such a shame not to give 5 stars... had the good old English wind and rain not returned at the end of August we would have been none the wiser!

Good but the roof collected water and it collapsed

Seemed great. Put up really easily, it has a detachable groundsheet and all seemed well. It's a good size with lots of access and openings, one large window to give good visability even if the doors are all shut. However when it started to rain the roof doesn't quite form a tall enough ridge and it started to collect water in the roof, once it's started to collect it that's it and it just draws in more and more and collapsed in on itself. I ended up returning it to decathlon for a refund where I was told that it was my fault as i'd not put the guylines up at the right angle (they need to be at 135 degrees from the tent walls, diagonally out to pull the roof taught). However, the instructions barely show any guylines let alone reflecting the importance of this, and the tent does have two metal poles that run between the two sides to hold the roof taught and push the two sides apart. It's a drive away awning and so if you want to place it close to the van rather than use the full canopy (shown standing out on poles in the website images) as we did you can't place the lines on the van side at 135 degrees as the van is in the way. We were on a UK site with relatively large, but still well defined pitches. We put the awning as far away from your van as possible and still couldn't have moved the guylines over any further than they were placed. To decathlons credit, we agreed to disagree and they still processed the refund as a gesture of goodwill. It's frustrating as I really wanted this product to work and be good.

Easy to put up single-handed

I bought this because my previous gazebo was flimsy and also difficult to put up by myself due to its size and the flexibility of the poles. This is incredibly quick and easy to inflate with the manual pump (you would need a specialist high-speed electric pump like the ones for paddleboards, not a car-tyre inflator) and is very sturdy once inflated and the bracing poles put in place. Be wary of sloping campsites - in heavy rain last weekend, I had to turn this around away from my van so that the water didn't pool on top as the ground sloped towards my van, counteracting the angled roof design of the shelter. The deflate mode on the recommended pump won't actually deflate this as the adaptor doesn't fit the larger valve opening. Instead, fold the collapsed awning in thirds from front to back, then roll the whole thing from the side away from the inflation valve. Also make sure the side door is unzipped to allow any air inside the awning to escape. It will just about go back in its bag. I also used this in the garden on my sheltered patio (i.e. with no tent pegs securing it) with both ends open to create a sun shade. I threw a mesh over the top to act as a fly screen - it would be great if there was an option to have mesh screens for at least one of the open ends or to be able to open the window and have a mesh over that as it gets very hot inside with only the small door open as there is no air flow through. Overall, very good product for the price

Quality again

I had the blue version for years and that was a quality bit of kit . The new white one seems better again . I’m gonna buy another one and keep it in my attic as spare. Turn up to a campsite and can bang the awning up in 3-4 minutes while other people are messing around for a good half hour. Very well built and great value for money !!! 5 stars all day

Fantastic shelter extra space

Brought this during lockdown for my new tiny camper van. Love the neutral colours not to garish or standing out. Took 5 mins to pop up and slightly longer to put away. Super easy to use loads of space for a table and chairs and nighttime loo. Bargain for the price and would definitely recommend.

After buying the blue tent I was looking forward to getting the extension this year, but you changed the colour so it does go with my tent now!! Won’t be buying it!

The colour is awful

This is a great tent and one I was about to get for my camper - the beige colour is putting me off! Why change from the blue version from previous years??

Wind resistance

We test all our living rooms in a wind tunnel on a turntable. The goal is to expose each side of our living room to the same wind intensity. Properly pitched, with the guy ropes deployed, this living room remains habitable in wind speed 7, measured at 35 mph. Feel free to re-inflate your inflatable poles regularly during your stay at the campsite (7 PSI).

We test our living rooms to validate their waterproofing. The 1st test is done in the laboratory, 4 hours under 200 liters of water per hour per m², the equivalent of tropical rain of 200 mm per hour. The 2nd test is done in the field under real conditions by our teams. This living room is fitted with a polyurethane-coated polyester flysheet measuring 2,000 mm. It also has seams that have been waterproofed with heat-sealed strips, and a 4.9 oz/m² polyethylene groundsheet.
