Questions & Answers

Look for product information, frequently asked questions, opinions...

Question:

My antishock pole is locked with the antishock deactivated. How do I activate the antishock feature.

Answer:

The anti-shock system is an extra spring in the stick expander. This can be "activated" or "deactivated" depending on whether you want a stick that cushions impacts with the ground or a more rigid classic stick. Disable the system To lock the spring in the inactive position, you must tighten the expander until you feel a "click". This noise indicates that the system is blocked. Anti-shock deactivation To activate the system, do not immediately loosen the strands. Otherwise, you will loosen the expander without having unlocked the shock absorber. You must first continue to tighten 1/2 turn, then loosen in the opposite direction. You will again feel a “click”, indicating that the bumper is unlocked. As you lean on your stick, you should feel the spring working. For more information: https://support.decathlon.fr/comment-faire-fonctionner-le-systeme-antichoc-de-mon-baton

Decay

I have already complained twice because the suspension stopped working. But on the other hand, they change without any problems.

Both the poles that i bought have broken from the tip in the first and only use itself

I use this stick every day for walking (knee prosthesis) and to accompany me on visits or hiking trails. Essential. I had to buy the same one because it was forgotten in a place, and satisfied for several years.

Ideal !

A solid stick that helps you on all terrains! The adjustment is precise, the handle is pleasant and the strap fits well in the hand. The tip is durable and does not wear out quickly. The possibility of reducing it to make it easier to transport is a real plus. The possibility of easily adapting end caps for hard ground, and a wider washer for snow, makes it modular and an ideal companion for our outings!

Lightweight and practical poles. Useful for medium use. Important help for walking. They also like it from an aesthetic point of view!

Very satisfied with my…

Very satisfied with my purchase I was well advised by the Decathlon employee whom I thank The spring in the poles is very practical for descents

Good cane

For walks with support needs. Light and good quality

trembling and squeaking

The handle of the product is very good, it has a good grip, it has a good adjustable structure, but one of the two batons I bought squeaks when the spring mechanism works. A baton that squeaks with every step in the middle of silence on the mountain is not pleasant. Another problem is vibration. I couldn't figure out the reason. Maybe that's why I used the spring mechanism (antishock) open. I'll try again tomorrow. I will apply for a refund depending on the situation.

For hikes of medium difficulty very good

Remember to check and test when purchasing. Two out of three were found to be bad during the environmental test.

Additional Product Information

Composition

Shaft: 100.0% Aluminium ; Handle: 100.0% Polyoxymethylene

How it was designed...

This model is entirely designed and approved by our team, at the foot of Mont Blanc. To fulfil the anti-shock promise, we have chosen this system with a spring integrated in the screw tightening system. We then designed a handle that enables powerful and comfortable grip whatever the position: along the tube for climbs and banking terrain, with the wrist-strap for efficient pushing and on the knob for descents.

How to adjust your poles to the correct length?

Hold the poles with your arms bent at a right angle. To do this: - unscrew the middle section, find the length of pole you want and screw back tightly- tighten further (a half turn) if you notice your pole is collapsing- do the same with the lower sectionNever go over the STOP line to avoid breaking the pole.

Directions for use

This hiking pole is designed to help you balance, propel yourself and distribute effort between arms and legs.To be on the safe side, check before you set off and at regular intervals that your baton is locked in place by simulating heavy bumps. If you notice that your pole tends to collapse then tighten it further by a half turn.Do not put on your backpack in case of a storm.

Care tips

Proper maintenance of your baton will ensure that it functions optimally and that it lasts longer. After use, if water has penetrated the stick, remove the strands and allow to dry. If necessary, clean the dust or mud with water or a dry brush. Once dry, you can reassemble the strands. We recommend that you do not attempt to oil or grease the mechanisms.

Why is the pole sold individually?

At Decathlon, we have decided to sell our hiking/trekking poles individually. First because of how they are used. Indeed, some people only want to use one pole. Also, if one of your poles breaks, this means you only have to buy one and not a complete pair.

Accessories sold separately and adapted to this model

The advantage of buying Forclaz trekking poles is that you have a wide choice of compatible accessories and spare parts. So you can enjoy it for as long as possible.Hiking pole caps: ref. 8580865Summer baskets: ref. 8737774Winter baskets: ref. 8503857Replacement tip: ref. 8577676 or 8755646 (if new screwable version)

Product testing

To set our thresholds, we have measured the stresses on the poles in the most demanding situations. During its development, each model undergoes laboratory tests that reproduce these stresses (compression, three-point bending, etc.) until it breaks. We also tests parts separately (tightening power, tearing, etc). Finally, these tests are regularly repeated in production to ensure a constant level of quality.

Storage instructions

Store the baton in a dry place without tightening the adjusting systems, so that they are not strained and retain their clamping power.
