It's not good at all

It is the most pathetic bike, the brakes do not work, the chain falls then you may want to change to a more matte speed and much more

Yo get what you pay

In my 10th trip the pedal broke. More plastic materials than I expected. For very casual cyclists

Decent Bike for the money

Having bought, setup and ridden this bike I can say some of the reviews are not justified. This bike is a good enough for casual riding and commuting with the caveat that Decathlon inspection and setup is not up to scratch. If I had ridden the bike as given to me I no doubt would have had problems with the chain and brakes. I did a proper setup and service myself. Make sure when you receive your bike you check it over and carry out proper maintenance when you get home, you will soon discover the chain needs more oil and has excess slack, the brake pad will need to be replaced pretty soon with some decent ones. other than that for the price and intended purpose this is a good bargain. Know your bike and how to maintain it.

Worst experience with this cycle

My daughter uses this cycle to ride to school and almost every other week some issue comes up. Recently had to spend around 20 pounds to replace parts...and we have done similar services and payments more than 4 times in a year! Almost what we spent to buy the actual cycle.

Hello Lavanya,

We are sorry to hear about your problem.

All the bikes that we are selling are coming with warrenty. The metal frames and the forks are with lifetime warranty, the carbon frames are with 5 years warranty. Working parts are guaranteed for defects for up to 2 years including labour. In case of problems with your bike you can always bring it to your local Decathlon store and the mechanics in the workshop will fix the problem for you under warranty. If you have any questions, please contact us and we will try to help.

Kind regards,

Desislava

Bike is not good enough

I have bought Riverside 100 bike in Oct 2018 and since then I had to repair it twice. Spares which should have 2 years guarantee have gone wrong or broken. Overall experience - not happy with the quality and not at all satisfied from level of service I receive from my local Decathlon store. Parts are never in stock, takes 10 days to get it all repaired and have to pay for parts and service which should be covered under the 24 months guarantee. Do not purchase this product!!

Thank you for your review of the Riverside 100 bike.
Regarding the warranty, you get 2 years with the parts (incl labour) if they are faulty. Some consumable items are not covered (unless they are faulty) such as pads, tyres, chains etc....
The Riverside 100 is a bike designed for moderate pace short distance cycling and it a recurring part keeps wearing out then the local Lakeside store team will gladly discuss any particular needs or issues you may have to get you on your way as quickly as possible and out there enjoying your bike.

Good bike, if you use it infrequently

3 months ago I bought this bike for my daily commute (2x3 miles a day). I bought it because of the good reviews and since I was planning on using this bike for only a year (so it did not have to be anything fancy) My initial impressions were very good: sturdy bike, gears and brakes are sufficient and it was nice and easy to ride. However, after a few weeks the saddle kept starting to twist, so I have to tighten it once every 1-2 weeks. Then, after 2.5 months the brakes were already worn out and need replacement, since it is now simply too dangerous to use it. Around the same time the gears started to disfunction as well, to the point that shifting up barely works between the 1st and 4th gear. I know it is a cheap bike, but I did expect that it should properly last for a year of small commutes. If you just want a bike for irregular use, I can imagine this being a very good deal, but I regret my purchase and wish I could still return it.

Thank you for posting a review of this bike. Indeed it is not intended for daily use. We would recommend moving up tot he 120 model which as upgraded and more durable parts throughout. The wheels, gearing, hubs, bars, bottom bracket and brakes are much more long lasting.

One year review

I have been riding this bike now for one year and can therefore truly give you an honest review about the product. First of all, do not absolutely buy this bike. I use this bike for cycling from and to university, I am cycling on the road. Within a year time I have had uncountable amounts of punctures, the bell breaks very easily and the gear system is absolutely worthless. I have spend in one year time more money on fixing the bike than I had to pay for it in the first place, which is absolutely due to the quality of the product (gear system, tyres, tubes).

Thank you for taking the time to review this bike. I would tend to agree with you that this bike is not intended of daily use. The 120 model (the next one up the range) comes with fully upgraded and longer lasting parts, notably the gearing, brakes, wheels and tyres: https://www.decathlon.co.uk/riverside-120-hybrid-bike-id_8405304.html

SEVERELY UNDERGEARED.ONLY OF USE FOR SHORT TRIPS

IT BECAME OBVIOUS AFTER SHORT RIDE THAT VERY UNDERGEARED.ONLY FOR FLAT RIDE NOT IF ELEVATED.I TRIED TO EXCHANGE FOR MOUNTAIN BIKE WITH MORE GEARS BUT TOLD COULE NOT EVEN THOUGH DECATHLON MEMBER .I HAD CYCLED 50KM ON IT.DECATHLON DOES NOT FULFILL PROMISE OF EXCHANGE FOR MEMBERS UP TO 365 DAYS,AT LEAST NOT IN THIS CASE.DO NOT BUY UNLESS ONLY BWANT THIS BIKE FOR SHORT BTRIPS ON THE FLAT

Dear Sir,
I'm sorry to read that the gear ratios were not the correct ones for your needs. It is indeed a leisure bike with one single front chain ring for cycling on flatter terrain and over short distances. If you wish to climb steeper hills or ride further, the 120 model for £169.99 may be more suitable or even the higher grade 500 model which has 9 speeds and a much wider range cassette.
Regarding swapping the bike, you are able to do so as stipulated in our returns policy : https://www.decathlon.co.uk/decathlon-return-policy.html?opeco=opeco:Footer-Return&type=text
Your local store in Stockport will be able to assist in explaining the returns policy as well as how to proceed should you require an alternative bike

Chain broke after 3 months

The chain broke on this on my commute one morning. I know this is a cheap bike, but I would still expect a chain to last a bit longer than 3 months. Other than that the bike is quite good, although the gears are also slipping a bit too.

Thank you for taking the time to review this bike. Indeed, a chain should not snap whilst riding. As long as you don't shift when under load (pedaling hard)  it should be fine.
If you feel the chain is faulty, please pop into your local Decathlon store workshop for some assistance.
