3d hood and face protection

We added a 3D hood with automatic tightening to this ski jacket. It moves with your head without obstructing it, in order to provide better protection in bad weather. It is compatible with helmets. The hood is preformed with a high collar for protecting the face in case of intense cold or strong wind.

At the cuffs:Wide, adjustable sleeves designed to fit over gloves. Spandex cuffs providing a perfect seal between the gloves and the jacket. At the waist:The automatic snow skirt prevents snow and drafts from entering when practicing winter sports, and especially in the event of a fall. It is ideally combined with the BIB PROTECT bib to provide great protection for young freeriders.

The water-repellent property of a fabric is its capacity to allow water to run off its surface without seeping in. Our FREERIDE jackets are equipped with water-repellent components that prolong their resistance to the weather. This is an additional technical solution for staying dry for as long as possible! You should repeat this treatment regularly using the products sold in our stores to maintain these properties.

Component's waterproof properties.

The resistance of a fabric is measured by the height of a water column in mm that can be supported by the fabric (test based on the ISO 811 standard). The higher the pressure, the more waterproof the fabric. A fabric with a waterproof rating of 5,000 mm is therefore resistant to the pressure exerted by a 5,000 mm column of water

Breathability of a component

To find out if a fabric is breathable, we measure its total evaporative resistance RET (test based on the ISO 11092 standard). This is the capacity of the ski jacket to allow the water vapor produced by the body to escape during physical activity so that you stay dry. The lower the RET, the more breathable the fabric. For example: RET < 9 = extremely breathable fabric / 9 < RET < 12 = very breathable fabric / 12 < RET< 20 = breathable fabric / RET > 20 = little or no breathability

How do we make a garment waterproof?

The waterproof properties of the garment are related to its fabric, seam sealing, and assembly design.Using a waterproof zipper or adding a flap to the zipper (covers the zippers with a waterproof fabric flap).

How do we make a garment breathable?

In addition to the breathability of the fabrics used, we employ technical solutions (zippers, vents, mesh) to improve the overall ventilation of our jackets and pants designed for Freeride skiing. These ventilation systems regulate the temperature inside the garment while also helping to eliminate the perspiration generated by the body during physical activity.

What's the difference between a membrane and a coating??

This FREERIDE jacket has a membrane: The membrane is a kind of very thin plastic film (polyurethane) that makes the component waterproof while remaining breathable. It has the advantage of being flexible, lightweight, durable, and often more breathable than a coating, which is similar to having a layer of paint applied to the inside the fabric. It makes the component waterproof while remaining breathable. It is often less costly than a membrane and requires a lining for protection.

What is the recco system?

With RECCO® technology, you can be located in the event of an avalanche. Someone who is equipped with RECCO® reflectors and is buried in the snow can be quickly and accurately located by the emergency services using the RECCO® tracker. RECCO® reflectors are not a substitute for an AVD. The RECCO® technology works as a complementary measure, increasing the chances of being found in time. All our Freeride jackets and pants are equipped with the RECCO® system.

Product testing

Our team of designers is based at the foot of the Mont-Blanc, near many ski resorts in Haute-Savoie (France). All year round, we create and develop products that are simple and technologically advanced. These are then ruthlessly tested in the field, because we believe that the only way to continuously improve our products is to test them under the real-life conditions that you will experience in use.
