Product Customer Reviews

I’ve had this bike for 3 months now.. and for $700, I don’t believe I could have made a better buy.. this bike rides great and I really like the micro shift gears. I’m not a long experienced cyclist so to me, this is a great buy for the money and I’m very happy with it.
The bike drives incredibly - from unboxing to getting on the road, decathlon does a great job on making sure you are set up for success. The bike looks great and definitely super light weight. HIGHLY recommend!
I didn’t think there be a huge difference between this bike and the big box store bike I already had but I was sorely mistaken. This is a great bike and I didn’t have to spend as much as I thought I would for a bike as nice as this. It rides super smooth and is very light and easy to handle. I thought I wouldn’t be able to handle only having the one set of brake handles at the curve of the handlebars as my old bike had two sets but I had no problem getting used to that and the brake/shifter combo is great. The shifter is smooth and I had no problems getting used to this setup. I loved this bike!!
My first road bike and I loved it.
got this bike review from bikeradar.com which give excellent review (https://www.bikeradar.com/reviews/bikes/road-bikes/triban-rc120-review/ }, curious with the bike then decide to buy it from decathlon online store. what a surprise this is a very nice entry level bike for commuting,
This is good, I have finished riding the Triban RC 120 CN FR at the 135 Km Gran Fondo PruRide Indonesia Challenge V 2020 event.
Excellent bike newbie. Want to buy Triban 100 but out of stock.

The product from Decathlon has always been my main choice for me and my family’s sporting and leisure needs; from jogging, camping, snorkeling to cycling and even portable basketball hoop and rowing machine. Your staff at Decathlon Shah Alam, Malaysia outlet has however turn up your service few notch higher. I was looking for 2, limited stock equipment, i.e. rowing machine and recently bought a Triban RC120 bike. Ary has helped me to advise when incoming stock arrives, holding the unit before I can reach Decathlon and arrange an appropriate personnel to assist me in the purchase, explanation and recently, in setting up the bicycle as well. The bicycle is great. Just nice for my cycling needs. Using it for both outdoor and indoor (on trainer). Right size, right weight, comfortable handling. One thing for sure, I will definitely come to Decathlon again. And to Ary, thank you for all your assistance!

I am a 50-year-old male, 1.65 meters tall and 90 kg in weight. I bought this Triban RC120 road bike on 10 March 2021 at the Shah Alam outlet despite test riding it at the USJ outlet. The reason why I chose the Shah Alam outlet is that this is the nearest outlet that offers bike fitting before purchasing the bike. I am happy to say that I am relieved that I did the bike fitting first before buying the bike. The fitting process surely confirmed my selection of the extra small (XS) size of the bike which I rely on the bike selection in the Decathlon outlet and further bits of advice from blogs and YouTube on taking a smaller size. The fitting also helped to ensure the measurements are done according to my height, the hand-reach to the handlebar, knee and toe alignment, and including the lower backbone checking (ensuring that the bone is not moving when pedaling the bike), which is an extra fitting done and not found in bike fitting videos in YouTube. Since purchase, I have ridden the bike twice for 35km on each ride, along the motor lane on the KESAS highway and I am certainly a happy person as I was writing this review. The bike was correctly fitted for my size, the ride was smooth and the bike parts reacted to what I was looking for in an endurance road bike. I read some poor reviews of the Triban 120 bike especially on the brakes, of which I am very satisfied that it is responsive and does not create any noisy sound even braking at high speed. The caliper brake is reliable and easy to operate even when I want to take the wheel off to load the bike into my car. Another part that I wish to comment on is the saddle. Even without wearing my padded shorts, the saddle was comfortable for the last 2 rides. Maybe I already accustomed to riding a folding bike for the last few years on a 20 – 50km distance. The fitting also helped to ensure that I have no pain while pedaling. The Microshift gearing is also flawless which any avid users of the Microshift system will agree. I did admit that I learned how to operate the shifting from YouTube and found it to be reliable based on my riding style. To me, shifting the gears is about anticipating the change in the elevation and need for speed. Since my riding purpose is more towards long-distance and metabolic workouts, I trust the Microshift is sufficient to meet the purpose. Also maybe that from my folding bike days, I was familiar with Shimano Tourney (1 X 8), and migrating to Microshift (2 X 8) is just another chain shifting from smallest to largest cogs, front and back. Also, the tire which comes with 700 X 28mm puncture-resistant, I am comfortable with the road riding and maybe going off-road once in a while through the estates or kampong for shortcuts. I was prior advised of the complications that I may encounter if I want to change the tire if punctured, but that is the least of my concern for now.

The RC120 is by far the best bang-for-buck road bike on the market here in Malaysia. I generally do not have any complaints except for one. Due to Covid I only ride my bike in a public park that goes for about 3.7 kilometers per-round. I've done so for the past 20 days and riding in between 30 - 60 kilometers on each of those days. The park's road is well maintained, there is a very little amount of loose rocks and is paved with asphalt all the way round. On my last few kilometers today 2 of my spokes on the rear wheel gave out and came loose. Upon further inspection, I found that the point where the spokes attache to the rear hub had snapped and could not be re-installed and tightened. Which meant that my wheel no longer spun true so it would make co ntact with my rim brakes at every turn of the crank. This bike is barely 1, 1/2 months old and has only been cycled in a controlled environment. This is not a matter of premium-for-quality and is now a matter of safety. Luckily I was at a relatively low speed but if the spokes had snapped while I was decending a hill, the result could have been much worse
Got this bike 2nd hand after scouring reviews online for it. Major thing to note is that the sizing chart by decathlon might be off. If you have shorter legs and arms (light me), at 165cm, I should ideally buy 1 size smaller. You may want to test the bikes out at the nearest Decathlon first before buying. At size M, my feet were still tip toeing and my reach is still slightly extended. If buying online, I'd check where I am on the sizing chart, and buy one size smaller (You can always extend seat tube/stem length as needed, but you can't downsize a bike as easily.) But again, this only applies to those very near the edges of the sizing chart. at 165cm height I could've went with an M or S. Pros: Ride wise, the bike feels very nice and speedy. I love riding it around and it feels great. Everything is smooth and runs very well, even on a second hand bike. The bike as a whole is light, everything is great and climbing isn't an issue. Gravel riding is also fairly nice, but I'd just use my mtb for those tbh, gravel riding on road bikes are very uncomfortable. The bike itself is stiff and rigid, light enough to easily climb hills with no issues and glides fast enough to work well. It's a great bike for a beginner with a decent upgrade path. Cons: Lubrication: I'm not sure if it's because I bought this second hand, but the bike was only 1 month old. The bike was dried out, sprockets squeaked, pointing to a lack of lubricant. They might've used a dry lubricant out of the store. So I'd recommend to check your bike's cassette, derailleur sprockets and chains to see if it's lubricated. Ideally, your first week riding should also involve cleaning your bike out. Use a degreaser (Check lazada) on the cassette, derailleurs and chain (To wash out any old/dried lubricant/dirt). Then, dry the bike and use an aftermarket lubricant (Like Muc Off Dry/Wet chain lubricant or WD-40 BIKE dry/wet chain lubricant). Brakes: The brakes might need further adjustment and fine tuning. But if you're willing to spend, upgrade it to a proper after market brakes. If you choose between rim brakes or disc, best to buy the disc brake version of this. Shifting: The shifting is great for a microshift. But I'd suggest upgrading it to a Sora or something. The gears feel like it's missing 1 set. I'm always putting in too much power or too little power to my wheels between gears. Wheelset: It works. The originals are absolutely fine. But the most obvious upgrade (and one you should DEFINITELY start with) are the wheels (Rims, tyres). If you want a lighter bike, I'd suggest upgrading to carbon rims. I'd also change the tyres to a 700 x 35c or higher as this will cause less punctures/blowouts plus the benefit of being able to ride gravel comfortably. In short: To upgrade, upgrade your tyres first if you're on a budget to an aftermarket 700 x 35c or higher. Then your rims. Then your brakes. Then your derailleurs and shifters (At this point you'd probably buy a new bike).

It's a good road bike, it rides like a proper road bike despite it using microshift groupset, which works well and it's smooth when cycling and shifting gears. however, the sizing advice at the website for this rim brakes version is wrong. It states 1 size Smaller for every sizing. For example, I'm 1.67m and I should be getting the S size version, but the site advices to get the M size which is too large. The sizing advice should follow the Rc120 disc brakes version, which they are essentially the same bike, but with different braking and wheels. I have informed the customer service of the wrong sizing advice but so far nothing has been changed or updated at the website to prevent others from buying the wrong size bikes.
