My First Gravel Bike

After a 40+ year hiatus, I started riding a bike again about 5 years ago. I purchased a used road bike and found a lot of joy. Along the way, I've become interested in expanding into other surfaces, hence the purchase of my first new bicycle since I was 11. The bike arrived in good condition, albeit with a very minor scratch that obviously occurred during shipping. Assembly was quick , and very straightforward, in large part due to the set of videos that had been previously emailed. I'm still in the process of adjusting to the bike. It's a good ride, though different than a road bike. I like it and am looking forward to getting to use it on trails. I appreciated the included bell, reflectors, and lights! However, for the life of me, I can't figure how to attach the headlight. the taillight was pretty straightforward, but the headlight... (help?)

Love it

Great bike

RC120 Gravel Bike Decathlon Eastlands Manchester

Very happy with the RC120 Gravel bike so far ,done a few long rides and other than a bit of clunky gear changing ( a slight adjustment of the cable seems to have improved this issue) have been a comfortable and enjoyable riding experience, bike very light and copes well with trails I've attempted so far

Good craic

Bought this bike for exploring some more offroad trails, mostly in a local forest. It handles the local roads well although obviously slower than my road bike (3kg difference). When I enter the mixed gravel trails in a nearby forest, it performs to expectation, better than my MTB (which is 4kg heavier). Lowest gear allows you to climb anything although the highest gear might not be enough for some on the downhill segments or back on the tarmac. Quite a jump between the 10 gears but that's fine and offers something different to a Compact double chainset. Microshift works well, just as it did on an old Btwin bike. It's a premium Decathlon build, value for money as a second bike / alternative for exploring. Great colour too. The green compliments the tan tyre walls really well. I don't want to spend silly money on a bike that's going to get rattled around on lumpy, rocky trails so it ticks that box. Decided to stick with the flat pedals that came with it to give more on foot options wherever I end up. They grip well with trail trainers. Tyres haven't punctured yet (100 miles) despite the negative reviews but I have bought tougher tyres for back up. Overall, a great buy at the price and Decathlon store backup is always reassuring. No nonsense support always offered.

Absolute bargain gravel bike!

I was looking for a do-it-all bike for commuting, tow path rides, day trips and may be even shopping and I hadn't really considered a gravel bike as a lot of them are quite expensive, and then I found this - it ticks all the boxes. I have fitted quick-fit panniers and mudguards and it will do just about anything a bike can do - except go fast, but it will cruise all day. Good points: I find it very comfortable and the tyres ride well and are decent on the road, it handles very well and is stable without being sluggish, the cheapo groupset works well, all the hills around here are easily climbed with the gearing and the brakes have good modulation. Not so good points: it's heavy! The wheels and tyres weigh over 3kg alone, you will certainly run out of gears going downhill and maybe on the flat, too, and I can pull the brake levers to the bars - no locking wheels here. The bottom line: this bike is a genuine bargain and a great all-rounder. People will spend thousands on "premium" brand gravel bikes and find they are no more capable than this one - well done Decathlon!

Amazing Value for Money

Since buying this in October I've ridden 600km and initially bought this to try gravel riding and now use it as my winter training bike as well by taking the tires off my summer bike. Having got into more serious gravel rides I've upgraded the wheels and tires but for most riders the stock wheels will be fine. I will upgrade the brakes next to improve brake feel. Very happy with the frame and drive train so far.

Excellent all around bike and customer service

I was looking to start cycling after recovering from an ankle fracture and I wasn’t sure what I should go for but luckily, I have met an amazing staff Marco in the Livingston store who took his time to guide me. He even got me to try one of the road bikes. I took his advice and went home to do more research. I came back to the shop and luckily, he was on duty and I bought the GRAVEL BIKE TRIBAN RC 120. This is an excellent bike and I’ve already done over 100 miles on it. I took the bike for free servicing at the end of the 3 months. Arthur did a very good job on the bike as the breaks were making noise. He also help me to adjust the sit to my hight and I purchased a lubrication for maintaining the bike. He took his time and advise me on how to maintain the bike. To be honest this has been the best experience I have had in a bike shop and all the shop assistant I have talked to in Livingston are great and very friendly.

Great Bike

Loving this bike. Good for the commute, weekend ride and bikepacking. Great dip into only having 1x on my bike. Could do with more mounting bosses and better mechanical disk brakes. But these are minor points.

Superb bike but I’d recommend fitting better tyres

Overall, the bike is absolutely fantastic for the price. I don’t think it can be beaten for that money. I have loved riding it for months, but I had to change the tyres. I had 4 punctures across 3 rides. They are supposed to be new & improved tyres, but not only is the grip not that great for gravel riding, they are just not up to scratch. I spent £35 on some Specialized tyres and haven’t had a puncture since. This bike would easily get 5 stars, but it is let down by this one issue. Factor into the cost that you might want to buy different tyres, and this is the bike to get you into gravel riding without breaking the bank.

Decent bike

Decent bike , but in a few weeks just I’ve had more punctures than I’ve had in 5 years cycling the same route , tyres are terrible

Keith

I normally ride expensive road bikes... Decided i wanted a gravel bike read reviews on this ..yes it wasn't top of the range components but hey I decided to give it a try ...Well I was impressed ... after the first 15 miles it was infact a great fun bike ..I was soon hitting 20mph on the gravel flats ...Wasn't expecting a lot from a bike that cost ÂŁ600.. Honestly I was impressed considering I pay 10 times that amount on my bikes ... I am not saying it will out perform any of my road bikes ...but in my honest opinion this is great for the money

Best Bike I've ever had (after a few tweaks)

So first off lets get the negatives out the way as there isn't many. The tyres that come with it are awful, even after they switched them to new ones when people complained. The positioning of the brake lever cable on the right hand side gets in the way when mounting things on the handle bars. Though I have managed around this by mounting things that are shorter. Now for the positives, first time having flared handle bars and a one-by system and I absolutely love using them. There is minimal maintenance with the drive train and cleaning it is much easier. The gear ratios are perfect for what I need, You do however notice the biking topping out in speed when going down steep descent, where usually I could push a few more MPH out on my road bike. But the trade off for max speed is definitely hassle free maintenance and comfortable ride. I have put in a over 1000 miles on this done 3 Bike packing trips and did my fastest time on the C2C (raining ALL day). The bike hardly has scratch on it and has so far only needed the occasional clean and lubing of the chain Would Thoroughly recommend this product!

Very pleased after 12 months use.

I reviewed this bike in detail a few weeks after purchase, gave it 5 stars. Now, after riding weekly on country lanes for 12 months, I am just as pleased with it. The improved Overide Hardskin tyres are still a little fragile, had to fit nylon liners to stop punctures, but are much better than the original soft ones. The rear derailleur is not tolerant of knocks, so do not allow the bike to fall as it will need adjustment. Everything have been working well, the brakes have run-in so offer much stronger stopping power. Comfortable, good looking and good value gravel bike - what not to like?
