Better than a hard kayak

Very happy with this kayak. It's well build and the drop stich floor makes it rigid and won't bed at all. It's actually more stable than most double hard shell kayaks I've been on. I've used in the ocean with some swell and it held up very well. It works well with 1 person, or 3. It won't go as fast as a single person kayak, but this is great for an all rounder - this fins keep it straight and it sits high to glides well. Less than 10 mins to fully inflate with the hand pump (the electric wasn't much quicker!). It's easy to wash and drys fast as there is no fabric covering.

Great product

I love this kayak, it is so convenient to transport, and it takes quite a lots of weight too. Love it.

x100+3

Brought in around May 2021. Have used it about 40 times over the summer on the River Thames and on and around The Solent (UK). Have been very happy with it. It is big and stable and so great for taking the kids out. It feels solid and robust. It's easy to set up. My concern is jut how long it will last. There is lots of glue holding things together. But at 40 trips out that's £12.50 a trip and even if I get another 40 trips out of it next summer (which seems very likely) that's £6.25 per use, which I would be more than happy with.

Brilliant

Easy to setup and easy to fold back. Used on the sea, stable and comfortable.

Looks fine, yet to use.

I have inflated the kayak and all looks fine, will try it out on the water in the next couple of weeks and post an update.

Feels very safe, but very heavy to transport

I made the switch from a regular inflatable kayak, to this drop stitch floor version. I have used it at the seaside and the river and have felt very stable. The material is top quality, and that is what you are paying for. People laugh when I tell them I have an inflatable kayak costing £500, but when they use it, they understand why. It's an expensive hobby as you need to buy paddles, life jackets, a pump, a dry bag and a license. Used approximately 8 times with no problems. When seating 3 adults, the middle person cannot row as it gets tight. Otherwise there's plenty of room. Now that I'm not a very strong woman, and need help transporting it, which restricts me when I want to paddle alone.

Great kayak

First kayak and was even better than the reviews said would definitely recommend 100%

Awesome inflatable kayak

Been thinking about getting one of these for years and finally got round to pushing the button on this one. Really easy to set up and pack up. Very sturdy and stable in the water and easy to paddle. No problem keeping it going in a straight line even with just one person in. I’ve taken myself my wife and 7 year old son and 4 year old daughter and a dry bag full of dry clothes and the kayak bag with all the accessories in and still had enough legroom. I’m very happy with my kayak and we are planning ever longer excursions.

Solid and quick to assemble

Comfortable, solid, and can take a family of 4 if children are small enough and you don’t go over the overall weight capacity. Had it out on lakes in Wales, haven’t tried it in the sea yet. Had ordered the shorter of the two double paddle lengths (separately) but in hindsight the long would have been better I think. Certainly for the tall hubby.

It's great but it deflated at sea on 6th usage

I'm giving this a bad review somewhat regretfully. I've really quite fallen in love with kayaking in the short time: my whole family has. We've used it on the canals of London; explored Newtown creeks; encountered playful seals on it while cruising up the north east coast of the Isle of Wight. We'd started to plan our future holidays around it: we want to be able to take it off for weekend trips down rivers across the country, fly it with us on holiday. It really is a transformational purchase, I couldn't have guessed what a great family activity it would be. We normally head out with it with me, my wife and five year old son in the middle. It's light enough that I can throw it on my back with paddles and all, then cycle off to a nearby river. Now, onto the bad: one side of the outer shell deflated while we were out on the water the 6th time we used it. We've been careful with it and looked after it throughout. I have no idea how it's loosing air but it is. We managed to get back to shore (admittedly taking half hour to get back to our launch site, so it didn't catastrophically fail). Perhaps I have been unlucky but I certainly expected a kayak costing this much to last more than 6 uses. I expect it is possible to stick a repair patch onto it, but if it punctures this easily/often it's going to be looking like a patchwork quilt within two years. Even then that might be acceptable, if it were possible to buy replacement outer shells, but it is not: they are not available as spare parts. So in retrospect, I should probably have coughed up more for a kayak that was made entirely of Nitrilon/dropstitch, rather than just having the inner floor made of it: the PVC material just clearly is not durable enough. A few niggling comments as well: 1) The adapter for inflating the seats does not come with the kayak. Not all the Decathlon pumps come with the relevant adapter, and the 'right' pump is not always available. 2) The description on the website should make clearer what the 'right pump' is given the manner in which 'high pressure' gets bandied about.

Touring kayak

I bought my Kayak about six months ago. After a few trips it’s was punctured ( small hole). No problem I thought, I can fix that. I was surprised to see that there was no glue in the repair kit( how can you have a repair kit with no glue, I thought) ok, I’ll go buy some glue, and to my surprise, they don’t even have glue like that at Decathlon, I tried hardware stores, it seems that kind of glue cannot be found. Talking to the nice people at Decathlon, they suggested I would take the kayak to the Decathlon service Centre. This Centre is so far away from discovery bay that it would take me a whole day, and cost a lot to get there. Unfortunately I also lost the fins for the Kayak at the beach, while trying to deal with the puncture, these are not available at decathlon( for the moment. These problems have led to my Kayak spending all of its time in the back of a closet. I have not been able to use it all summer.

Excellent!

Impressive design, super easy to inflate and deflate, great quality.

Worth the extra $$!

This X100+ model may be a bit more expensive than the ITIWIT cruising kayak but it’s worth it: roomier, faster and easier to clean up! It’s a bit heavier though (tip: get a cart to wheel it around). It’s got a few more user-friendly frills like pockets for small items and Velcro straps for oars... But if you want cool looking colors, the cheaper cruising kayak is great too. Easier on the wallet, too.

Better than I expected

This has been a great purchase and a way to get out on the water during the pandemic. It is quite seaworthy and stable. I have a fair amount of boating/kayaking experience and found it easy to handle and fast enough to get where we needed to go. I think it is best if you have some basic boating skills before setting out. We have two adults and a 4 year old occupying the middle seat.

Additional Product Information

Composition

Bladder

  • 40% Polyester cationic
  • 60% Polyvinyl chloride

Technical data and weight.

Width: 17.7" Thickness: 14.6" Weight: 39.7 lbs Maximum floor pressure: 0.34 bar (5 psi) Side tube and seat pressure: 0.2 bar (3 psi) Number of seats: 2 or 3 seats Contents: kayak, bag, repair kit, 3 fins, user guide, inflation connector, strap. PUMP NOT INCLUDED For use with an Itiwit double-action hand pump with adapters

Inflation tips and floor positioning

Connect the ITIWIT pump (sold separately) by twisting the pump adapter 1/4 turn and inflate the floor to 5 psi. Finish by screwing the cap back on. Put the floor inside the kayak and strap it at the ends. The floor valve must be aligned with the side tube valves located at the back of the kayak. The floor's position must allow free access to the drain plugs located in the middle of the kayak.

Side tube and seat inflation tips

Connect the ITIWIT pump (sold separately) by twisting the pump adapter 1/4 turn and inflate the side tubes to 3 psi. Finish by screwing the cap back on. Each side tube has a pressure relief valve. Its purpose is to evacuate excess air resulting from overinflation. When this happens, you may notice a hissing sound. This hissing is normal; it can happen during inflation or after prolonged exposure to sun. It will stop once the kayak reaches the correct internal pressure

Seat comfort and positioning.

The seats are high, providing increased comfort for adults in the paddling position. Position the seats on the floor using the velcro areas located under the seat and on the floor. Stow any bags or equipment into the kayak's rear hatch or attach to the rear deck. The boat is ready to be launched.

Glide performance

Thanks to the rigidity of the dropstitch floor. "Dropstitch" is a material. 2 layers of PVC are connected by thousands of polyester strands. When inflated to high pressure, these threads tighten and create a rigid volume, which prevents the kayak from loosing its shape. Which is what makes our inflatable kayak extremely rigid but easy to stow in a wheeled bag once deflated.

Care instructions

Remove the seats and slightly deflate the floor to make it easier to rinse out. Rinse the kayak, bottom, and seats with clean water after each use to avoid damage from sand, salt water, and sun. Open the drain plugs located in the middle of the kayak and at the rear. Tip the kayak to empty out the water.

Disassembly and folding

Make sure that the surface you intend to fold the kayak on is clean. Remove the fins. Deflate the side bladders. The valves are located at the back of the kayak. PLEASE NOTE: Do not unscrew the pressure relief valves at the front. Fold the floor. Fold the rest of the kayak in half lengthwise. Flatten the front fin base. Lay the rolled floor on the front end. Roll the kayak to the rear end. Strap the kayak.

Storage

Once dry and clean, the kayak should be stored in a dry and shady place, protected from significant temperature changes. The kayak can be stored folded, but if you have enough space, storing it flat and slightly inflated will extend its life.
