Nice Jacket - Very Impressed

Overall i've been really pleased with the jacket. Ive only had it since December 2022; however, weve had some really cold weather and snow since then and this jacket seems to meet that challenge. * Price - for the price its an impressive coat. * Wear & tear over time - too soon to tell - only had it since December 2022. * The sealed cuffs at the wrist let zero wind in which is great. * The removable gator neck is very nice touch - no wind down your neck when aero. However, without it, the neck is tight enough to keep wind out but material flexible enough not to feel tight across the neck. * The weight is heavy enough(with correct base layers) to withstand heavy winds in temps around 21F (obviously everyones temp tolerance is different). * Great reflective visibility at night - During the weekdays, im limited to riding at night and with proper head/tail lamp feel the jacket has good reflective design. * Easily accessible pockets without having to pause your cadence . * Snow turned to rain one day and the jacket did a nice job of repelling the water for a good hour. * Breathable - I dont seem to be in a pool of sweat when done riding so its fairly breathable * Cleans up well - winter riding on messy days can be tough on bright color clothes - but not for this coat - got home some days looking like i was off-road instead of road riding - but - followed the cleaning instructions - hung it to dry - looked like new. Again, not sure how it will look after a couple years - too soon to tell. One thing I noticed, is seems a bit big at the bottom and not as tapered as i would like and tends to ride up a bit - not enough to be a problem though. I think a great fix here for a winter riding jacket would be to taper the cut at the bottom touch or add that "cuff" design they put in on the sleeves around the wrists I would highly recommend this coat.

I love this jacket

This jacket is exactly what I needed for early morning fall/winter rides. Hi viz is great, plenty of pockets in the right places, and the attached neck gaiter is a great addition. I love it enough to wear it when running as well!

Triban rc500

Bought this jacket to be more visible in the winter commute. Does that brilliantly. Just the right amount of breathability. Fabric has good water resistance. Couple of improvements to make it better would be a more breathable fabric on the back. And moving the vents closer to the front zip as they are less effective when wearing a backpack.

Good enough

I bought one of these from Horwich store Bolton, It was really good breathable so you don't sweet inside. Waterproof and comfortable jacket. Size you have to be careful you have to tried at the shop, small than usual size.

Works as a running jacket

I wanted a waterproof running jacket with pockets for water, snack, phone and some pockets for gloves/hat. I could find an appropriate running jacket and then I came across this cycling jacket that fitted the bill perfectly. I’ve used it once so far, running in temperature of -2 and it felt warm and comfortable. It even comes with a bandana to keep my neck warm. I would recommend this for running.

Great value softshell jacket for winter rides

Great kit

Great piece of kit. The only complaint is that the cuffs are a bit tight for tucking the wrist cuffs of my gloves under. Other than that can't really fault the jacket.

Functional and good value

I’ve been using this jacket for my daily commute now for 2 weeks in scottish weather. The jacket is very well designed and functional, and has a very good fit. High visibility, and it keeps you dry in a medium rain for about half an hour. The windproofing is not perfect but good enough to buy time for the body to start generating heat and resist the chill. Overall at this price the jacket is very good value for money.

Good quality & lots of pockets

Am using for Cycling early mornings. Really comfortable & good price. Was after something with a front & rear zip pocket. Would recommend.

Quite good

Needed a second winter jacket as I started to cycle more than before. This jacket is comfortable, highly visible. Quite warm yet the wind stopping aspect could be a bit better. Water repellence is OK, used in small drizzle but not in heavy rain. With such a colour gets stained easily but washes OK and dries quickly. My previous decathlon winter jacket had zip on wrist, took me a while to get used to this one but OK. Similarly the pockets on the back are lower cut and quite loose. A bit scary at the start, but I still have my mobile phone and keys. Side pockets are a bit loose too, but no losses so far. Just feel that my 12 years old Decathlon Btwin winter jacket was a bit warmer and more windproof. Yet both have the same weight (within 10g). So maybe psychological, but still believe my older one was a bit more wind proof (hence only 4 stars instead of 5)

Very well made, excellent product quality &VFM

i bought one of these in Oct 19 and ive ridden through 2 British winters with it, and its still in good condition. I bought it as a wind proof and it is very effective at stopping wind. Well tailored and uses good quality windproof material. Nice tight cuffs, hugging fit, plenty of pockets and a nice neck tube - this was designed by a cyclist for sure. I've washed it maybe 10 times and it hasn't faded. Its good down to -1 degree celcius (realfeel minus 8) with just a merino layer underneath. You have vents under the arms which are easy to open on a hillclimb. Great product. You could pay double for the same thing under a different brand.

Excellent jacket for Winter

I have been using this jacket for commuting and low-intensity rides. I wear this jacket when the temprature is below 10 degrees. The fit is just right - neither relaxed nor tight. I am 170cm and 65kg, and the medium fits me well. The overall build is very good. The chest pocket is a nice for a phone and wallet. I would improve this product by changing from a 2 pockets to 3 pockets in the back. I find that the large pocket is too big.

D. Unsworth

After going by the size guide which says I needed a medium jacket, I went to the pick up point in front of the store, tried on the jacket with just a base layer on and it was a perfect snug fit. It's great for commuting to work, cars pass more widely. Training at low temperatures 0 to 5 degrees if you get warm you can open the vents which help. Not used in the rain yet but fluffy snow just bounces off. It's great in the wind being a snug fit so if you prefer a looser style then choose a size bigger. I'm 179 cm tall and weigh 73 kilos. If the temperature drops to zero or just below I'd probably wear another jersey underneath.

RC500 softshell

I was pleased to roll out in this softshell. I have only work with single layer underneath and it fits snugly with no flapping. Good range of pockets for the various sized bits we all carry. Chest pocket good for phone and side pocket good for my keys. A real bonus is the integral neck tube which is handy for covid times and keeps my neck toasty. A very comfortable jacket with plenty of reflective panels for visibility in town

Additional Product Information

Composition

Main fabric: 88.0% Polyester, 12.0% Elastane ; Yoke: 100.0% Polyester ; Coating: 100.0% Polyurethane

The en1150 visibility standard

The effectiveness of this jacket's visibility has been certified by an external Finnish laboratory according to the very demanding EN1150 standard. It guarantees excellent visible during the day (thanks to the neon yellow) and at night (very powerful reflective patches). The standard also requires 360° visibility. You will therefore always be visible to drivers in any conditions.

The purpose of a cycling jacket

The third layer is the layer that protects you from the elements, for instance the cold and the wind, while the underneath layers offer warmth and breathability. By wearing a suitable cycling jacket, you will maintain your performance and comfort, whatever the weather. This RC500 cycling jacket keeps you nice and warm with its integrated, removable neck gaiter. The adjustable vents let perspiration escape

Warmth

A product's ability to protect from the cold. It depends on the material's thermal resistance and how much air can pass through it. The higher its thermal resistance, the more the product retains the heat produced by the body while cycling.

Breathability

To find out whether a fabric is breathable, we measure its evaporative resistance or RET (based on the ISO 11092 standard). The lower its resistance, the more it lets water vapor produced by the body escape, therefore the more breathable it is. •RET <6: Extremely breathable, suitable for most intense workouts•RET 6 to 12: Very breathable, designed for moderate exercise•RET 12 to 20: Moderately breathable, not enough for exercise•RET >20: Little breathability, unsuitable for exercise

Care tips

Machine wash at 86°F. Synthetics cycle. Turn the article inside out. Use a minimal amount of laundry detergent. Do not use fabric softener. Line-dry in a warm, ventilated area. Do not tumble dry. Do not dry clean. Do not bleach. Do not place on a heater to dry.

What is a ”softshell”?

A ”softshell” is a garment that is windproof and often stretchy to allow very good freedom of movement. A softshell is water-repellent (protection from drizzle or splashes from the road), but isn't waterproof like a ”hardshell”. On the other hand, the membrane provides good breathability (ability to let water vapor generated by the body during exercise escape) and is therefore suited to sports activities.

Product testing

Our team of designers and cycling enthusiasts is based in Lille, in northern France, not far from Flanders and its legendary cycling routes. To get this jacket just right, we tested it all over Flanders throughout the winter: we believe that only by subjecting them to real world conditions, like the ones you experience on your bike, can we continuously improve our products.
