An ABCDE score is provided to help you easily identify the most environmentally-friendly products comparing products of the same type. Decathlon voluntarily takes this approach: Video: All our approaches to sustainability

A WAXÉ component to stand out from other riders

The main bib component is a component called WAXÉ. This component works like jeans: it becomes marked over time. Your bib will represent your style and will be unique when compared to other riders.

A versatile and clever product.

These bibs were designed and co-created by and for snowboard enthusiasts. The stomach pocket allows you to ride without a jacket in spring or summer. The product also adapts to the length of your legs with an elastic system hidden in the pockets. If you have a wheel-fastening system on boots (BOA and other brands), there is easy access to the aforementioned without having to remove the gaiter.

Can I be sure my bib will protect me well in bad weather?

To better cope with bad weather (rain, snow, wind, etc.), the Free pants were rigorously developed and assembled to prevent water from entering and to feel the wind less. The waterproof rating is measured by placing the product in a special shower that replicates the real-life conditions encountered by snowboarders in use. Finally, we wore them for several days' snowboarding under all conditions to validate its waterproofness.

Water often gets in through the seams. Does my bib have taped seams?

As well as the waterproof material, taped seams are incorporated to strength the waterproofing of the jacket. These are waterproof adhesive strips taped to the inside seams of the garment to make it completely watertight. All of the pants' seams are taped.

What is the point of the water-repellent property of my bib?

Water-repellent fabric allows water to run off its surface without seeping in thanks to a treatment that is applied to its exterior. The fabric is not waterlogged, it stays light and warm. This treatment must be renewed during the product’s lifespan, after 2 to 3 washes on average with the help of the products offered in our stores. All waterproof pants for snowboarders have a waterproofing treatment.

What is a membrane and what's it for?

A membrane is a very thin component (between 5 and 25 micrometers) applied to the internal surface of a textile base to give it excellent waterproof and breathable capabilities. Our membrane-coated components do not allow water to penetrate while allowing the water vapor generated by your body when snowboarding to escape.

How will my bib keep me warm?

To keep you warm, we use padding insulation. Padding is a synthetic component made from polyester, which stores more or less air, depending on the length of the fibers. Padding can be standard, hi-tech or siliconized, each with different properties (warmth, lightweight, supple, etc.). These pants provide an additional layer of warmth across buttocks for 50% added comfort when seated in the snow compared to pants that do not incorporate this concept.

How should I dress to avoid feeling cold on the slopes?

In order to keep warm and dry, we recommend using the 3-layer rule. The principle is simple: Use 3 layers of fabric, each having a particular function. Your undergarment must produce and keep in the warmth. Your sweater or sweatshirt provides you with warmth whereas the jacket protects you from bad weather. All these layers should be breathable in order to allow humidity to escape.

How can I stop snow from coming into my bib?

Our bibs and pants have elasticated gaiters that can be adjusted around the boots. If you fall or ski in fresh snow, the seal keeps the snow out.

How do I look after my product?

To optimize your product's performance and durability, we advise the following: Machine wash separately at 86°F. Synthetics cycle. Turn inside out. Use a small amount of detergent. No softener. Wring out manually. Dry on a hanger in a warm, well-ventilated place. Do not dry-clean. Do not place on a radiator. You can re-watertight the outer fabric using a fabric watertighting spray. Read the care label.
