Quality trail choice

Good grip on most terrain though I don't really go 'off piste' much. I'm a heel striker though and completely wore down the lugs at the back after 500km

Stuck - NOT in the mud

These trainers are great for those (like me) who go off the beaten track but not to the extent of needing spikes. The tread is not too aggressive that you cant go on slightly hard terrain but more than enough for the wet boggy mud around. Only down side is they aren't waterproof!

Perfect for hiking

I like this better compare to my salomon shoes. The traction and comfortability is top notch.

Superb grip

If you are looking for durable, efficient and affordable trail shoes Kalenji XT7 is best for you. With its 5mm shoe lugs, it will assures you the strongest grip on uphill and downhill terrain.

I love my XT7s

These are great shoes and superb value for money. I am on my third pair now, or should that be I am alternating between my second and third pair. The grip in the wet, in the snow, on rocks and on wet snowy rocks is exceptional. The confidence they give when planting your foot on an undetermined surface during a torchlit trail run is huge. If you get one lug on a boulder it will grip. These are comfortable over short or long distances and just as at home on the road as the trail. I completed 2 marathons in them this year because I didn't fully trust my road shoes. The XT7's didn't let me down. I also use my semi retired second pair for walking.

Excellent Shoes

I ran malnad ultra trial 80k with this shoes it was moving free flow only setback it pains yours calf's wand knee you are running on Roads

Not thrilled

I have owned 3pair of these because they fit well, offer good support, and have a lugged sole for trail running. At s$100 they are competitively priced. My disappointment is that after 3-4 months of daily wear, the shoes squeak with every step and the fabric lining behind my heel is worn through. That happened in the previous pair also. To their credit Decathlon replaced one pair for this problem, but the new pair has the same defect.

Blisters

I have worn many pairs of running shoes but not one that ruined my feet quite as bad as these can’t run for more than 5K without getting pain on the arch of my foot which develops into a blister. Very disappointed to say the amount of comfort which is stated in the description

Hi Robbie,

I am very sorry for your bad experience with our trail running shoes. This model is one of the best trail running shoe and we have many good rewievs about this product.

What I can propose to you is to exchange this model for a model that is more stabil and for sure more comfortable - the Kiprun trail MT running shoes. They have a large contact surface thanks to the sole (wider then XT7) which can easily be solution for your problem. You can use this shoes for hard rocky ground but also for wet slabs and mud. This shoes can be used for trail or even ultra trail runnig so distances from 20-180km.

Please visit one of our stores and exchange you XT7 for Kiprun MT and I think you will be satisfied.

If you can please send me the review for the MT it can be very usefull for me.

Please contact me if you have any further questions or doubts,

Kind regards,

Excellent hiking shoes; used for my AT Thru-Hike

I cannot review these shoes for their intended purpose of trail running, but I can do so for their use as hiking shoes, which is becoming increasingly common. In fact, I recently finished the Appalachian Trail using just 2 pairs of these! Now, I really should have gotten a third pair as I pushed the second pair farther than was smart, but at the time I needed a new pair they had disappeared from this site (for any staff reading, your search is horrible - even doing a "kiprun xt7" search now will NOT surface the men's shoes). Regardless, the fact that I was able to hike 2,200 miles on just two pairs of these shoes is as good a testimony for their quality as anything else I could say. I actually used the first pair for probably 200 miles of preparation and then 864 miles to start the trail and used the second pair for the remaining 1300+ miles. The rocks of Pennsylvania did leave some tearing on the top toes area, which I re-sealed with some Shoe Goo and then toward the very end the fabric on the top area started developing significant wear and tear but again a little Shoe Goo held them together until the end. As for the soles and even the toe guard, there was never once any kind of separation and the tread held up remarkably well (they lugs are quite massive so can take a pounding before wearing down). Most of my friends were using $120+ shoes (Altra, Salomon, La Sportiva, Hoka, etc.) and they tended to last about 500-600 miles each (with wear and tear starting before then) so even if you don't push yours as far as I pushed mine, they will definitely prove more durable than the more expensive alternatives. As for fit, I went up a half size to start and then a full size for the second pair since my preferred size was out of stock. I don't have especially wide feet so I cannot speak to comfort for those that do, but I found them quite comfortable and when using all the eyelets the shoes hugged my heels nicely, helping prevent any blisters in that area. I only paid $50 for these shoes and now I see they are much higher, so I don't understand what's happening with the pricing (or the color selection, which is no longer the same as when I ordered mine). Still, even at this price I would call this shoe a winner compared to the competition.

Traction, grip or both?

Traction is what prevents your soles from slipping on loose surfaces. And grip is what prevents them from slipping on smooth surfaces. With their widely-spaced 5 mm lugs to fluff out mud more effectively, your trail running shoes literally bite into the ground: it's on muddy terrain that you'll see what they're truly capable of. And with a new rubber component that provides 42% grip, you can be sure your outsoles won't slip, even on wet rocks!

K-ring and kalensole : we offer you ultra-soft cushioning

The K-RING is exclusive heel cushioning technology in the form of a ring located in the heel: The hole in the middle disperses the shock wave. Kalensole is the EVA foam used in the midsole. It took 3 years of research to create this exclusive composition that improves cushioning by 34%, propulsion by 25% and provides better temperature stability and durability!

Running shoes suited to all terrains... and all types of stride!

Exclusive Kalenji technology that makes our shoes suitable for every stride type thanks to the denser foam located under the first metatarsus. This innovative technology is the result of a 6-month study with a sample of 372 runners conducted by the Luxembourg Institute of Health*. After 12,558 training sessions, 12,094 hours and 72,528 of running, the study demonstrated that the K-Only technology suits all types of strides, whether pronating, neutral or under-pronating.

A shoe that gives you support when trail running.

When you're out running in wild nature for hours, you need shoes that give you maximum support! That's why we added a PU band sealed to the mesh around the back and sides of the shoe, to wrap your foot up snugly. Result: When you pull your laces, your shoe tightens around your whole foot to provide extra support.

What are the secrets behind the xt7 design?

The XT7 features a whole array of details designed to provide support, versatility and traction: - There's a pocket on the tongue you can store your laces in! - Weighing 12 oz in size 10, your shoe is even lighter than before and suitable for body weights of up to 195 lbs. - The sole has a heel-to-toe drop of 10 mm - For optimal comfort - even in trail - the lining covers the whole interior of the shoe, right to the toes!

Shoes tested for durability

In order to provide you with ever more versatile shoes, the first thing we did was listen to your feedback. That led us to develop a new kind of rubber for the heel, one that gives better grip. Then we handed our shoes over to trail running enthusiasts for 6 months, men and women who tested them out under real-life conditions every day, on all terrain. Result: On top of its exceptional level of grip and support, the XT7 will last you up to 500 miles!
