Very clever and worked a treat

Really impressed with this tool. An ingenious solution to the problem of gripping a cassette - I'm surprised nobody else makes or sells them (as far as I've seen). I've just used it for the first time and it worked a treat. That was on the 12T sprocket of a Shimano 12-25 block. I did notice however the reviewer who said it didn't fit their Shimano 13T sprocket, so I then tried slotting (the now loose) 13T from my block on the tool - it didn't fit properly and then jammed and I had to force it out. The 12T sprocket fits easily and snugly. So there may be a problem with using it on 13T sprockets.

Garbage...will not fit on a 13T

Simply does not fit on my Shimano 13T sprocket...really it does not - too tight. As an experienced bike maintainer, I am so disappointed with this tool...back to the trusty and traditional chain-whip.

Thank you for posting your review regarding this cassette remover. I have asked the team at b'Twin for a reply as there is no reason why it should not fit correctly. I wonder if there is a fault with your particular item? I know it works (as I have one myself) on 11T and 12T but I have never had cause to try it on a 13T yet.
Please return it to us for a refund or an exchange.

Great bit of kit

Compared to the old style chain whips this is just so easy to use and can be use of a wide variety of cassettes. A must for every bike tool box

Better than a whip!

This is a superb tool. Its not a chain whip - it's far superior. Extremely robust tool - already used it twice in two weeks to remove cassettes. Easy to use, keep clean and keep your hands clean when removing the old mucky cassettes. Great price at Decathlon for such a super tool.

B Twin chain whip

Such a simple idea. Robust and easy to use along with a cassette lockring remover. I am left handed and always find using a standard chain whip i.e. the type with the short length of chain attached , a bit awkward. This tool makes the job easy.

Better than the usual chain type

Have used on 2 bikes, with both 11 & 12 tooth cassette sprockets. Very easy to fit over a Shimano hex cassette tool and hold the cassette in place while turning the lock ring.

New style Chain Whip -Cassette remover

I am very impressed with this tool, its a good strong very well made tool.. Well thought out, right down to slanted hole for hanging up centrally. It is easy to use as there are no moving parts, just like a spanner, once in place it does not slip and combined with a lockring removal tool it is a simple one handed process to use this tool. Good grip in hand and on the job.

I have used this now to change cassettes on both my campag and shimano groupsets. To say that it is simple to use is an understatement, and it makes the whole operation unbelievably simple and effective. I recommend this product most highly.

Look no further!

After mashing my knuckles into spokes for the third time due to a standard chain whip snapping (seized lockring on my commuting bike) I decided to try a different design. This one made the job effortless. It grabs the smallest cog which is in direct contact with the lockring, instead of transferring forces through the freehub. This makes all the difference. There is also a very positive engagement on the teeth, it won't move at all once forces are applied. I highly recommend this!

This is the best tool for the job I've had

This is quite simply the best tool I've laid hands on for the (usually god awful) job of removing a crusted on cassette. It engages positively - doesn't slip so you don't skin your knuckles. Saw the review at - was sceptical but for the price it was worth a punt - boy am I glad I did. Old whip is in the bin now.

Great alternative to traditional chain whip tool

Sturdy and simple to use; much better than a traditional chain whip tool.

Chain Whip

After breaking my old tool on an over tightened cassette I needed a new one. Saw this on-line and was dubious about its quality at the price and looking flimsy in the on-line images which do it no justice! On seeing it in the flesh I realised it was a very high quality heavy duty item! highly recommended!

Chain whip

This is an excellent tool for removing cassettes with the range of cassettes with smallest cogs of 11 to 14 teeth. It is easier to use than a standard chain whip and is able to be used on narrow and wide chain cassettes. You still require a cassette removal tool for your particular make of cassette. Highly recommended.
