Walking with hiking poles

Makes walking fun and the sticks do give support and keep your back straight while walking

Malfunctioned

The anti-shock mechanism in one of the poles seems stuck so must be returned. Seeing as I purchased from a retail store, I have to return in person but the store is 4 hours away. It’s unfortunate there’s no other way. The other pole works great and the adjustability will be good for travel. I’m pretty sure it will fit in a carry on.

It's not a set

I really did not understand that this is only ONE pole. Not a set.

Activating & Deactivating Anti-shock

This feature is great, however as a newbie using nordic poles it took me some time to and several YouTube videos to work out how to activate and deactivate the anti-shock device. It is really easy to do but it does not tell you how to do this. Please Decathlon could you let customers know this. Other than that I am now watching as many how to videos as I can. I wish I'd bought one of these years ago.

excellent

just used these every day for a 8 day coastal hike around Anglesey they are excellent fellow hikers i was with called them speedy sticks because they could'nt keep up with me did lose one of the rubber feet so will need to buy another set of them may be i didnt push on the pole enough

Good for knee support

The top of the range walking pole, with multiple height adjustments mean these can be quickly assembled and taken apart for ease of transport. Wrist strap also adjustable to length, poles feel sturdy in use. One star deducted because these are sold without rubber end pieces (available for an extra ÂŁ2.99): a bit weird when the ÂŁ10 version is sold with them attached

Bought poles for GR20

Poles took a little getting used too, loosing the bottom section in bushes etc as I'd not tightened them enough (my fault) Anti-shock worked a treat and cannot slate them, but however one of the titanium tip came out and the pole was worn down and will be returned as that should never have happened!

Spring mechanism

How to activate/deactivate antishock spring mechanism??

Hello
Thank you for your review  of the Forclaz 500 anti-shock pole. To engage or disengage the spring you need to twist the pole in the direction of the lock and unlock symbol on the pole itself (once the pole has been secured). If this isn't clear please pop into your local Decathlon where one of our trekking experts will be at hand to show you, otherwise please get in touch and i will be able to talk you through it step by step.

Not able to tighten - should it have springs?

My parents-in-law bought two poles for me as a Christmas gift but they do not tighten at all - they unscrew but the sections come apart - should they have springs in as mine do not.

Happy customer

I bought 2 items, one of the items the spring wasn't working so am returning it. Initially the store said they’ll send a new one and then I can hand over the old one. However there is no response and so am returning

Additional Product Information

Composition

Shaft: 100.0% Aluminium ; Handle: 100.0% Polypropylene

How it was designed...

This model is entirely designed and approved by our team, at the foot of Mont Blanc. To fulfill the anti-shock promise, we have chosen this system with a spring integrated in the screw tightening system. We then designed a handle that enables powerful and comfortable grip whatever the position: along the tube for climbs and banking terrain, with the wrist-strap for efficient pushing and on the knob for descents.

How to adjust your poles to the correct length?

Hold the poles with your arms bent at a right angle. To adjust the length: unscrew the middle section, find the size of the pole you need and screw back tightly. Tighten more if you notice that the pole shortens as you use it. Do the same with the lower section.Never go over the STOP line to avoid breaking the pole.

Directions for use

These hiking poles are designed to help you balance, propel yourself and spread the effort between the arms and legs.To increase safety, check your pole's locking mechanism by pressing down hard on it before you start and at regular intervals.Do not attach to your backpack in stormy weather.

Care instructions

Maintaining your poles properly enables you to maintain optimal function and increase their lifespan. After use, if water has got into the pole, take the parts apart and allow to dry. Clean any dust and mud with water or without, with a soft brush or paintbrush.Once dry, you can reassemble the parts. We recommend that you do not try to oil or grease them.

Why are the poles sold individually?

At Decathlon, we decided to sell our hiking/backpacking poles individually. On the one hand, for usage reasons. Some people only want to use one pole. This therefore meets their needs. On the other hand, if one of your poles breaks, this means you only have to buy one and not a complete pair.

Product testing

To set our thresholds, we have measured the stresses on the poles in the most demanding situations.During the design stage, each model undergoes laboratory tests that reproduce these stresses (compression, bending in 3 places; etc.) until it breaks. We also test parts separately (tightening power, tearing, etc.).Finally, these tests are regularly repeated during production to guarantee consistent level of quality.

Storage instructions

Store the poles without tightening the adjustment system to reduce the stresses on the system and protect their tightening power.Store poles in a dry place.
