Convenient for traveling, very useful for unexpected weather because it can be carried closed without realizing it. Good protection from the cold and wind, less from the rain.
The price-performance ratio of this jacket is good. The warmth in relation to the weight is also good. I would buy the jacket again. The recommended size M was too small but L fits perfectly.

Excellent value for money
Very nice transitional jacket. Perfect for walks, for everyday use on colder days. Well made and easy to keep clean. It is also easy to compress and put in a backpack. However, to use it on the trail, I don't think so... unless in spring/autumn, possibly above zero, or as an additional layer. The quality is also ok. After almost a year, nothing is fraying, it does not rub. Good product.
The down jacket does the job! Very compact when folded, it protects effectively from the cold (thanks to the feather down!). I wear it in the middle of winter to go to work by bike and it fits perfectly. I appreciate the height of the collar which limits air inlets very well. Provide additional protection in case of rain, however
It protects very well from the cold. I wore it on a morning when it was 6ºC with just a short-sleeved t-shirt underneath. Highly efficient and comfortable. It's the lightest and softest coat I've ever owned.
I have no objections, warm, comfortable, sometimes after packing it into its own pocket it served me as a pillow. In the rain, however, it should be worn with a hardshell or stored in a drybag because the hydrophobic coating quickly comes off.
The item fits well, but the down and feather filling in the sleeves is insufficient compared to other parts of the jacket. I believe this is a manufacturing defect, as the same model has a black option with much better filling and is compatible with other Forclaz down and feather pieces. (Model evaluated: Forclaz MT100 -5ºC Men's Trekking Jacket, burgundy)
Tested by bike on a 480 km mountain trek with high altitude passages and descents in cool weather; The wind does not pass, the garment is fitted and does not flap in the wind. Very light and effective garment. Be careful though in very cold weather you need a lot of under layers, especially when static (evening bivouac).

How warm is this padded jacket?
This down jacket, worn as a 3rd layer, has been certified for an active comfort temperature of 23°F (-5°C), during a standardized test in a thermal chamber. The model is wearing a synthetic long-sleeved T-shirt and a light fleece underneath. It works with a simulated 3 mph wind. We have also tested this model in static mode. The comfort temperature is 41°F (5°C) in this case.
The advantages of a duck down and feather filling
The filling power of down has 3 advantages for mountain sports: - Thermal insulation thanks to the air trapped in the down and feathers.- Ultra-lightweight: down is lighter than synthetic wadding while offering the same degree of warmth. This saves even more weight in your backpack.- Ultra-compressible.
How to measure the fill power of a down and feather wadding?
The fill power is a measure of the down fts thermal insulation capacity and its potential to InchtrapInch air. It is expressed in CUIN (cubic inches). So, down with a higher fill power (higher CUIN number) will occupy more space, trap more air and provide greater thermal insulation. This puffer jacket, filled with 90% down and 10% feathers, has a guaranteed fill power of 800 CUIN (international standard) or over.
How to care for a down jacket?
The down jacket can be worn throughout the winter and will certainly need to be washed. But the less you wash it, the more it will retain its thermal insulation and water repellency.Summary: 1/Machine wash with a detergent suitable for down or technical garments, at 30°C, with 2 or 3 tennis balls. Gentle spin cycle. 2/ tumble dry with 2 or 3 tennis balls, and repeat 2 or 3 times until it is completely dry.
Water-repellent property of component (not to be confused with waterproofing)
The water repellent property of a fabric is its ability to make water run off its surface without absorbing it. This prevents the fabric from swelling, and keeps it lightweight and warm. The fabric of this down jacket is water repellent, however, we recommend that you wear a waterproof jacket over it in the rain. The fabric is made water-repellent by treating (PFC-free) its outer surface, however this property may deteriorate with use. We recommend that you restore it after each wash.
How to restore the water-repellent properties?
Once you have cleaned your padded jacket, we recommend you use a water-repellent reactivator spray to preserve the hydrophobic properties of the outer fabric. This renews the fabric’s water repellent properties and optimises its performance throughout the lifespan of your garment.
A snag? how to repair your fleece
A tear on a padded jacket can happen when trekking! The good news is that it can be repaired with a repair patch to prevent the tear from getting bigger or feathers from escaping. Don't you feel at ease carrying out this repair yourself? Don't worry! Some Decathlon workshops offer an in-store repair service to mend your padded jacket using a heat-bonded patch.
