to replace my old down jacket of the same model with hood I opted for this one without a hood because it is a real high collar. the cut is very well adjusted, very good with under sweater and sweater underneath. very compact and light 250g, very good for breaks in the cold, can be stored in one of the pockets, good seams, the feathers do not leak I would have appreciated two inside pockets to put light gloves warm. a slight smell of feathers. for 60€, it is perfect. Decathlon delivery at the top and handed over against code. thank you Decathlon, another great success.

In terms of trips to the mountains, I recommend adding more and taking the version up to -10.

Lightweight jacket, ideal for between seasons or in winter as an intermediate layer. Lightweight, light weight and very compressible (easy to store in a handbag as it takes up little space). Narrow size, both in the chest and waist. I order the M at Decathlon and I had to return this item because it was too narrow in the waist. The L fit me better, but the sleeves were huge... Strange sizing!! Shame. Even so, if it fits you, I recommend it because it is very light and warms you just enough without being overwhelming.

Convenient for traveling, very useful for unexpected weather because it can be carried closed without realizing it. Good protection from the cold and wind, less from the rain.
Good value for money. As warm as you would expect of a jacket this light & compact. Use for bushwalking in Tasmania. Great way to lighten your pack.
The price-performance ratio of this jacket is good. The warmth in relation to the weight is also good. I would buy the jacket again. The recommended size M was too small but L fits perfectly.

How warm is this padded jacket?
This down jacket, worn as a 3rd layer, has been certified for an active comfort temperature of 23°F (-5°C), during a standardized test in a thermal chamber. The model is wearing a synthetic long-sleeved T-shirt and a light fleece underneath. It works with a simulated 3 mph wind. We have also tested this model in static mode. The comfort temperature is 41°F (5°C) in this case.
The advantages of a duck down and feather filling
The filling power of down has 3 advantages for mountain sports: - Thermal insulation thanks to the air trapped in the down and feathers.- Ultra-lightweight: down is lighter than synthetic wadding while offering the same degree of warmth. This saves even more weight in your backpack.- Ultra-compressible.
How to measure the fill power of a down and feather wadding?
The fill power is a measure of the down fts thermal insulation capacity and its potential to InchtrapInch air. It is expressed in CUIN (cubic inches). So, down with a higher fill power (higher CUIN number) will occupy more space, trap more air and provide greater thermal insulation. This puffer jacket, filled with 90% down and 10% feathers, has a guaranteed fill power of 800 CUIN (international standard) or over.
How to care for a down jacket?
The down jacket can be worn throughout the winter and will certainly need to be washed. But the less you wash it, the more it will retain its thermal insulation and water repellency.Summary: 1/Machine wash with a detergent suitable for down or technical garments, at 30°C, with 2 or 3 tennis balls. Gentle spin cycle. 2/ tumble dry with 2 or 3 tennis balls, and repeat 2 or 3 times until it is completely dry.
Water-repellent property of component (not to be confused with waterproofing)
The water repellent property of a fabric is its ability to make water run off its surface without absorbing it. This prevents the fabric from swelling, and keeps it lightweight and warm. The fabric of this down jacket is water repellent, however, we recommend that you wear a waterproof jacket over it in the rain. The fabric is made water-repellent by treating (PFC-free) its outer surface, however this property may deteriorate with use. We recommend that you restore it after each wash.
How to restore the water-repellent properties?
Once you have cleaned your padded jacket, we recommend you use a water-repellent reactivator spray to preserve the hydrophobic properties of the outer fabric. This renews the fabric’s water repellent properties and optimises its performance throughout the lifespan of your garment.
A snag? how to repair your fleece
A tear on a padded jacket can happen when trekking! The good news is that it can be repaired with a repair patch to prevent the tear from getting bigger or feathers from escaping. Don't you feel at ease carrying out this repair yourself? Don't worry! Some Decathlon workshops offer an in-store repair service to mend your padded jacket using a heat-bonded patch.
