Quality and value

Aimed as a winter bike/leisure bike the first impressions are most positive. It offers a comfortable ride, and is responsive. Although being 1.94m the bike is maxed out position wise - with an inverted 13cm stem. The bike is great value and will be well used. Also, the service and advice given at the Stockport store was outstanding

Great bike

First road bike and rides like a sream

After 4,200km

Pros: * Was good value to get into road biking as I paid only £730 back in April 2019. Cons: * Only 105 levers and derailleurs. Therefore not a complete 105 groupset. * Tires that came with bike were not that grippy compared to Continental Gatorskins. * Rear wheel is not centred enough in the rear stays and points to the right. Therefore poor tolerance and quality control, which means more power is required to maintain or reach a certain speed. Speed wobbles also occur at speeds greater than 30kph because of this poor tolerance. * Exposed inner cables leading to grit getting in and a gritty rear brake lever feel. Overall, I think this is a good value bike to get into the road bike category. However, the headset bearings in my bike are worn out and it does not look like they can be replaced. This is a shame as the bike was a nice ride, but as the steerer tube is now moving around inside the headtube, it's a bit dangerous for any serious rides. It's not because I haven't preloaded everything before tightening the stem on the steerer. Also, the non-centred rear wheel is just poor quality control.

RC520 Indoor Trainer

i bought this to work alongside a Wahoo Kickr & Zwift/Sufferfest, bolted straight on the trainer with no issues, literally up & running in minutes. very happy with it. recommended

A superb bike let down by the wheels

This is a fantastic bike, it does everyting I want. day rides, commuting even a couple of triathlons. Comfort is amazing, I just love riding it! However it is totally let down by the wheels. It is impossible to change tyres on it. If you are buying budget for a set of replacement wheels. Decathlon this is such a shame....

Amazing bike

After a long comparison of bikes from various brands I went for Decathlon because of the value for money. It was difficult to get my hands on this one as they are constantly out of stock, but I was lucky! I am a 5'8'' medium build female and couldn't find the women's model, however the frame is the same as are the key components, the seat is fine and the only issue is the reach on the handlebars which is a little too large but nothing unmanageable. I have been using it for 12+ weeks now on my daily 20km commute and am very happy with my choice, this bike is a smooth ride, the carbon fork dampens the vibrations from the road really well and the shifting is seamless. As others have mentioned before the wheels are quite heavy so won't be the best suited for those wanting to race. However this feels like a nicely versatile bike to commute and do some light touring.

RC520 Disc Road Bike

Pretty good for the price, mostly 105 which gives nice gear changes. 32 sprocket on cassette which helps a bit with the hills, weight is a fairly hefty 10.7 kg though. Have read that the tyres are very difficult to remove in the event of a puncture but have not had a puncture yet - tempting fate there. Would buy again.

Excellent

Great value especially given the price of bikes at the moment. Arrived very quickly ( a few days ) with everything in order . Solid bike . Done a few hundred miles and really enjoying it .

Touring

I’ve owned my RC520 for a few years now, originally buying it as a winter road bike. I’m not the fittest cyclist so I did notice the weight going up hills and the lack of response. My other road bike is all carbon so this was to be expected. Just before lockdown I decided to try it as a lightweight tourer. I put about 15kg of racks and kit on it and cycled over to Denmark and back, 1250miles. The bike was superb, mechanically sound and it’s road bike looks and handling turned a few heads in the Netherlands. I’ve since put 34mm tyres on and looking forward to my next tour. Great purchase.

Smooth

Very happy with this bike ... Have been using it to do about 32km commuting a day. Tyres have handled snow, rain and dry roads. Brakes have been excellent in all conditions. Previously I had ridden on hybrid bikes so for me this had a very racing set up between seat and handle bars so I needed to change to an adjustable stem. This was easy as was adding a rear rack. Pedals will need upgrading.

Hi Sid

Thank you for your review and it's great that you are enjoying the bike. I hope the weather on your commute improves, but I'm glad the bike could handle everything. We look forward to seeing you again soon. Andy

Excellent quality bike fantastic spec

Have owned the RC520 since January & have about 300 miles covered on the road. Bike was collected setup perfectly, gears & brakes all dialed in. Just a but if fettling with saddle height/position to be expected. The 105 gearing is a world away from my previous road bike, effortlessly shifting with a great range of gearing. The HyRd brakes whilst not as precise as my MTB full hydraulics these are easily the next best thing, brilliant in the wet as well as dry. Have completed a 40 mile ride in perfect comfort the more upright position more suited to long rides. Wheels perhaps a little heavy but no punctures to report i did try & remove a tyre after reading some reviews & whilst they are tight fit i removed/refit with a bit of effort. For the price paid this is easily the best value road bike currently out there.

Defect with the rear tyre.

Bike is lovely but I’ve gone for 5 rides and the rear tyre keeps bursting. Had it replaced by a specialist 23/03/21 and went out 24/03/21 and it burst again. I believe there are other reviews stating this.

First Road Bike *****

Having been around bikes most of my junior and adult life (BMX + Moutain bikes), I decided it was time to enter the world of road cycling. The transition from a Mountain bike to the Triban RC 520 was as smooth as I could have possibly hoped for! After a quick cycle around the block and a couple of minor adjustments (seat height etc..) I went on to conquer a modest 33 mile ride! The geometry of the bike ensured that the entirety of the ride felt comfortable, enjoyable and dare I say it, almost effortless. The bike performed exactly as described by Decathlon with no niggles or hiccups along the way. I have since booked a summer Triathlon and hope to put the bike through its paces in the lead up to race day! Thank you Decathlon for an affordable and enjoyable transition into the wonderful world of road cycling.

TRIBAN RC520

Love this bike, for a first time road cyclist this was a very good first purchase. Been cycling for around 7/8 months on this now and no issues on the bike at all. Realy comfy even after 2/3 hrs in the saddle, easy to ride and just overall a very strong sturdy bike 100% recommended
