Footwear waterproofing test.
The footwear equipped with the NOVADRY® technology is tested in the lab and in the field to guarantee the best possible waterproofing and breathability. The shoes are initially immersed in water with pressurized air inside to check for bubbles on the surface of the footwear. Then, the shoes are fitted to a mechanical arm that simulates walking, half immersed in water so we can test that the inside remains perfectly dry.

All our shoes undergo comfort and use tests carried out by users who are representative of our target market, in conditions identical to those found in typical use. Our Field Test Missions team up the product manager with people who aren't affiliated with QUECHUA, to test, improve, and validate our products.
Laboratory tests were conducted to test the following elements: attachment of eyelets and straps, gluing, toxicology, UV resistance, abrasion of the sole and upper components, accelerated aging.
3 levels of waterproofing.
During the waterproofing tests, we test 3 levels of waterproofing, with 2000 flexes (approx. equivalent to a 2.8 mi walk), 4000 flexes (approx. equivalent to an 4.2 mi walk) and 8000 flexes (approx. equivalent to a 9.2 mi walk). Of course, after this test or in use, the shoe regains its original waterproofing once dry.
SNOWCONTACT soles are made using a special component. Designs are optimized to provide excellent all-terrain grip and maximal traction all winter long. What's more, the SNOWCONTACT soles are more effective on snow than conventional soles.
Measurement of the boots' thermal insulation.
It was not previously possible to accurately measure the temperature at which your boots would still insulate your feet from the cold. Now it can be done: the temperature limits for use are indicated on your Quechua boots. We conduct field and laboratory tests on people's sensitivity to the cold with a panel of customers to measure the thermal insulation of our boots at rest and when walking. We take into consideration the differences between men and women.
All our boots are tested in use and for comfort by users who are representative of the target market under conditions that replicate those you will experience in use. In particular, our Mission Tests bring the product manager together with people who are not affiliated to QUECHUA, to test, improve and approve our products.
