Our actions towards more environmentally-friendly design
We know the impact our sport has on the environment and we are dedicated to reducing the impact of our products as much as possible in order to protect our playing field. These pants have been developed with the following features:- 90% recycled wadding- Fluoride-free main material- Lining with mass dyed yarn (Dope Dyed)
What is dope dyeing?
Dyeing textiles uses lots of water, chemical products and energy. However, we enjoy wearing colour. To reduce this impact, we use the “Dope Dyed” technique where powder colour pigments are added when the yarn is produced (and not by soaking it in dye baths as is usually the case). This reduces consumption and the discharge of waste water from colouring our fabrics.
What we're not doing so well when it comes to our environmental impact
Despite our efforts, it's not always easy to reduce our impact as much as we would like. For this product, we are striving to:- Changing the main material to a recyclable material- Using dope dyeing for all of the materials.- Finding out how to waterproof a product using a lower impact solution- Making the coating separable (or the same chemical composition) to facilitate recycling of the product
Can i compare the environmental impact of my snowboarding outfit?
The environmental impact of the ski or snowboard trousers is calculated over its entire life cycle and using various indicators. A score from A to E is calculated to help you easily identify the more eco-friendly ski clothing by comparing products of a similar type. Can i be sure my snowboard trousers will protect me in bad weather?
For braving bad weather (rain, snow, wind etc.), these women's snowboarding trousers have been developed with a waterproof material and a design that stops water getting through and reduces the effects of the wind. We have spent a few days snowboarding and carried out tests over long periods, in all conditions, to validate the waterproofing of the product.
Why are my trousers water repellent?
The water-repellent feature makes water run off the fabric without seeping in thanks to a treatment applied to its outer surface. The fabric does not soak up water and stays light and warm. This treatment must be renewed during the life of the product, after 2 to 3 washes on average, using the products available in our stores. All the waterproof trousers that we design for snowboarders are water-repellent.
Product testing
All Decathlon's Snowboarding products are tested in real conditions of use for which they were designed: in the snow, in the cold, and in all possible conditions you may come across when skiing and snowboarding. Our design teams, product managers, engineers and pattern makers make sure that the programme for which the product is designed perfectly matches its use in the field.
Storage instructions
Store on a hanger and do not fold, as this can damage the fabric coating. Dry thoroughly before storing in a dry and well-ventilated place.
