This shoe does not fit well, it's too compact and heavy for high altitude trekking.

Previously had a pair of the stitched boots in this style (orange Forclaz 800?). They lasted me nine years. Bought this pair six months ago and where the boots are glued together on the side they are coming unstuck, in several places.
I purchased these shoes in preparation for a trek in April 2018. The Pangarchulla Peak trek was a snow trek, and our group spent over 12 hours walking on snow. While of course we used mini spikes for the snow, my socks never got wet. The waterproof quality is really important in any trekking shoe, and this one works perfect. Besides, the ankle support is fantastic, and I find them so comfy that they are my default shoes for casual wear. Totally worth the price.
I bought these boots 18 months ago. At first they felt uncomfortable as I could feel the tread on my feet. The boots are narrow which suits my feet. It took me around 3 months to break them in, wearing them every day. Now after 18 months of daily use the boots are still in good condition, although as to be expected the tread has worn down. I have never had wet feet through the beast from the east or the English summer. The boot laces are still the original ones normally I get through a pair every 2 months due to the eyelets on other boots cutting them. I keep looking to make sure I can get another pair when needed.
When I was buying this product the sales person was asking me whether I am a professional mountaineer or not, " we don't sell these shoes to anyone they must be professional. Mountaineers are using these shoes to summit Mt. Everest". At first iI though I am buying the best shoes for a good value. I used them for 2-3 months trekking in Sahyadris to break in. During my practice in Sahyadris I observed that the vibram sole is really good. I gained the confidence of stepping on to any surface. I was using a layer of comfortable gel sole as the shoe feels very hard and uncomfortable for hiking for long time. That increases the weight, and I am not even sure about the weight stated by the company is ture or not. But overall I was very happy that I bought these shoes. But the time came when I had to go on an expedition in Ladakh, the first day on an acclimatisation hike I got to know the shoes I was so confident about aren't completely waterproof

These boots are definitely not waterproof and are over priced for what they offer. Armature and not for professional treks or climbs. On the heavier side my ankles hurt.

Generally Decathlon products used to be good but there's days there is quality drop since its all coming in from China. These boots are very hard to break in & the soles are stiff quite uncomfortable. I've used some of the top brands of hiking & trekking boots these are costly for what it brings to the table

Having booked a holiday in Ireland I needed some tough waterproof boots, as I had split the sole on my old pair. I have previously brought Decathlon’s excellent cycling clothing I was expecting a similar level of value for money and performance. In the shop I was immediately impressed by the look and fit of these boots. They felt like an extension of my body, a bit like growing hooves. I felt like I would be able to negotiate rough terrain like a goat. I broke them in carefully over a long period. I wore them for work and twice walked the 4 miles home. My holiday involved daily walks of about 15 miles through some rough terrain. I found that contrary to my initial expectations the boots felt too heavy and too inflexible. After a couple of days, I developed painful blisters on the back of both feet. The fourth day of the Holiday was wet. I very surprised to find that after a couple of hours my feet were starting to feel wet. By the end of the day my feet were soaked. My friends with lighter boots also had wet feet, but not as wet as mine. In contrast to mine, their boots dried overnight, whilst I had to soldier on with wet boots until the end of the week. I returned the damp, muddy boots to Decathlon the following weekend, and was surprised but very pleased to be given a no questions asked, full refund.
Used this pair of shoes for trekking and mountaineering activities in leh ladakh region recently. And I am very satisfied after witnessing the results and effectiveness of this product. Alex
Not quite what I expected of a pair of Treking boots from France. International treckers & climbers with some experience will not recommend. Also not properly watetproof
I have used it for trekking at Mount Everest base camp and find this product terrifically good and well to tackle every condition, i.e., ranging from walking in snow and in heavy rain to walking on uneven surfaces of mountains. I am very thankful of Decathlon as they have encarved such a masterpiece for trekking lovers. Afte buying this pair shoes I feel very happy and delighted. Must to have product for all trekking enthusiasts.

These boots, which have been laboratory and field tested, are equipped with a waterproof membrane that provides optimum waterproofing and breathability. First, the boot is immersed in water while the air pressure inside is increased to check that no bubbles form on the surface. Next, the boots are fitted to a mechanical arm that simulates walking and half-immersed in water so we can test that the inside remains perfectly dry.
During the impermeability test, we test 3 levels of waterproofing: 2000 flexes (about 2.5-mile walk), 4000 flexes (about 5-mile walk) 8000 flexes (about 10-mile walk). Of course, after this test or in use, the boot regains its original waterproofing once dry.
The TREK 700 boot has passed the waterproofing test involving 8000 flexes, i.e. 10 miles of walking in water up to the middle of the upper.
Laboratory tests were conducted to test the following elements: - secure attachment of eyelets and hooks - gluing of the sole - toxicology - UV resistance - abrasion of the sole and upper components - accelerated aging.
Use a brush and/or sponge to clean the boot and remove dirt or mud residue. Then, leave to air-dry away from a heat source. Finish by spraying the upper with a waterproof spray to maintain the water-repellent properties and prolong the lifespan of the boot.
Try on both boots, while standing up, with the socks worn for hiking. Try on several models and several sizes if required. Check 2 comfort points: the base of the heel (the heel should not lift or very little) and the forefoot when going downhill (the toes should not touch the front of the boot). Avoid any pressure points when fitting. Don't hesitate to walk around the store. Gradually wear in your boots during your first few hikes so that they conform to your feet.
TREK 100 leather boots are made in the European Union, in Romania, in a factory that specialists in the production of backpacking boots. This factory exclusively uses water-based glue, without chemical solvents. Most materials are sourced in the European Union.
When the rubber sole is too worn and no longer provides the grip and traction it should, you can have the boot re-soled. To do so, go to your nearest Decathlon store or nearby shoemaker.
All of our boots are tested for initial comfort and comfort during use, by users who represent the target market, and under the same conditions as you would encounter in use.
