Colour Fading

Ive been using this since more then 02 years,This is the first generation of shoe i believe. Good Product but the issue im facing is the colour fading and prone to stains, Using this expensive product designed specially for outdoors doesn’t make worth for the bucks Ive invested. It could be better if these issues are sorted out, As a Passionate Trekker or Backpacker we feel to have the shoes in perfect condition and shape.

Waterproof, comfort. Not resoleable.

Pair#2.5. Loved these boots. Blew a hook but replaced them with no drama. Wore one pair flat and bought another. Current pair are now smooth on the bottom from urban walking. But still comfortable breathable and waterproof. Amazing value. If only they were resolable.

Used for more than 3 years

As usual I was skeptical when I see the word waterproof labeled on a shoe. I tried many boots which did not live up to it. But when I looked at this pair of boots I thought to myself why not. Back then it costs about $139/$149? I can't remember. It feels light and very comfortable. Then the real test comes when I had to ride my motorcycle in the heaviest rain ever! Not once or twice but countless times in the period of 3 years. Frankly I am impressed! It is truly waterproof. It is so good that I won't want to wear any other shoe when I ride. I have no reason the get a replacement for this shoe except for 1. The Sole and laces is now worn out. Getting my 2nd pair soon. Would give 5 stars if the price didn't increase.

Hi Shafie!

Thank you for taking the time to review our Quechua Trek500 Men's Trekking Boots!

I'm glad you enjoyed the usage of this product. It was specifically designed for for the active mountain trekker walking on potentially rugged marked trails, hence the durability.

Did you know that these boots (which have been laboratory and field tested) are equipped with a waterproof membrane that provides optimum waterproofing and breathability. First, the boots are immersed in water with pressurised air inside to check that no bubbles form on the surface of the footwear. Then, they are fitted to a mechanical arm that simulates walking and half immersed in water to test that the inside remains perfectly dry. The TREK 500 boot has passed the waterproofing test involving 8000 flexes, which is equivalent to 16 km of walking in water up to the middle part of the boots.

For better care of your boots, use a brush and/or a sponge to clean the shoe and remove any dirt or mud after every use. Then, air dry them away from a heat source.

Do drop by our stores and check our the new products that have recently hit our shelves and do share with us more about your experience with other products. I’m looking forward to reading your other reviews :)

Awesome boots, nothing like them at this price!

I bought these boots less than a year ago and they have been fantastic. Comfy from the first wear, breaking in not required. Fully waterproof. I took care of them at the start, used nikwax aqueous wax etc but have not done so for the last 6 months and they look beautifully weathered but NO leaking whatsoever, fully waterproof. They could do with a new pair of laces though! I wear them daily walking the dog and also hike frequently in the Mourne Mountains which are granite and harsh and they have stood up to it all. HOWEVER, the fab grippy sole is now totally worn down and now grippy in mud so I am going to get a new pair. If you work out the cost per wear they are well worth it and look a lot better than other boots at double the price. My last pair of boots, meindl Burma pro were as comfy but MUCH heavier and the sole fell off after 3 years! I will keep buying these, the only sacrifice is the sole wear. If you were in only softer muddy terrain and not so much paths and asphalt they would last a long time. Well done decathlon.

Waterproof and hardy indeed

I wanted shoes that would be waterproof, and these shoes held on through days of rough motor biking and high-altitude climbing. I had even the misfortune of being caught in a snowstorm at 5000 + m in the night, and these shoes definitely saved me. The only noted disadvantage is the small front end. I had to have soles changed and live through blisters before I could truly enjoy this pair. Also, I had to buy a small size in men's. Why is the women's not available easily? :-/

As always, very satisfying

I used this shoe for my recent stok kangri expedition and the shoe met my expectation. The shoe is little heavy as compare to other brands, but that add on to the durabiltiy. The shoe worked well in the Boulder section and also in the loose scree/moraine. The grip of the shoe is also good. Initially the shoe feels less flexible but once it is breaked atleast 10 days prior you will feel it as a part of your body.

Forclaz 50)

The water proofing of shoe is quite good but when it comes to a rocky section the shoe grip is not up to the mark and if you are not walking with extra caution you have a high chance of slipping down.

Value for money, functional

A great product, my Everest base camp trek is at the end of the month so the real review would get updated sometime in October once the boots go to 17500 feet and back

Footwear waterproofing test.

These boots, which have been laboratory and field tested, are equipped with a waterproof membrane that provides optimum waterproofing and breathability. First, the boot is immersed in water while internal air pressure is applied to check that no bubbles form on the surface of the footwear. Next, the boots are fitted to a mechanical arm that simulates walking and half-immersed in water so we can test that the inside remains perfectly dry.

3 levels of waterproofing.

In the impermeability test, we test 3 levels of waterproofing: 2000 flexes (about 2.5-mile walk), 4000 flexes (about 5-mile walk) 8000 flexes (about 10-mile walk). Of course, after this test or in use, the boot regains its original waterproofing once dry.

Footwear waterproof rating.

The TREK 500 boot has been tested and validated for 8000 flexes, equivalent to a 10-mile walk, in water reaching the middle of the upper.

Laboratory tests

Laboratory tests were conducted to test the following elements: - secure fastening of eyelets and hooks - sole assembly - toxicology - UV resistance - abrasion of the sole and upper components - accelerated aging.

Care instructions

Use a brush and/or sponge to clean the boot and remove dirt or mud residue. Then, air-dry away from any heat source. Finish with a nourishing cream to keep the leather nice and flexible and prolong the lifespan of the boot.

Buying tips

Try on both shoes, while standing up, with socks worn for hiking. Try several models and sizes if necessary. Check 2 comfort points: the heel seating and the front of the foot on a downward slope. Avoid all pressure points when trying them on. Don't hesitate to walk around the store. Gradually wear in your boots during your first few hikes so that they conform to your feet.
