Footwear waterproofing test.

Tested in laboratory and in use, these shoes, equipped with a Waterproof membrane, will ensure optimal impermeability and breathability. First, the shoe is submerged in water while internal air pressure is applied to check that no bubbles form on the surface of the footwear. Then, these are placed, half submerged, on a mechanical arm simulating walking, where it is checked that the interior of the shoe remains perfectly dry.

3 levels of waterproofing.

During the impermeability test, 3 levels of impermeability are tested: 2000 flexions (approximately 2.5 mi walk) 4000 flexions (approximately 5 mi walk) 8000 flexions (approximately 10 mi walk). Of course, after this test or in use, the shoe regains its original waterproofing once dry.

Shoe waterproofing level.

The TREK 500 F shoe is validated on the impermeability test in 8000 flexions or 16 m walk in water up to mid-upper.

Lab tests

Laboratory tests were conducted to test the following elements: - wrenching of hooks and eyelets - joining of the sole - toxicology - resistance to UV - abrasion of the sole and upper components - accelerated aging.

Care instructions

Use a brush and/or a sponge to clean the shoe and remove dirt or mud residue. Then, air dry away from a heat source. Finish with a nourishing cream to keep good leather flexibility and extend the lifespan of the shoe.

Buying tips

Try on both shoes, standing up, with the socks worn for hiking. Try on several models or sizes if necessary. Check two comfort points: the base of the heel and the front part of the foot going down. Avoid all pressure points when trying them on. Don't hesitate to walk around the store. Gradually start using your shoes during your first few hiking trips to break in them.

Product Testing

All our shoes undergo use and comfort tests carried out by users who represent the target market in conditions identical to those found in typical use. In particular, our "Tests Missions", associate the product manager to individuals not affiliated with QUECHUA, to test, develop and validate the products.

Care Instructions

Use the brush and/or sponge to clean the shoe and remove dirt or mud residue. Always brush in the same direction to give nubuck its original look. The use of cream or waterproof grease on split leather is not recommended. This is not problematic in itself, but it would change the shoe's esthetic look.
