Excellent shoes, with great grip. Ideal for me as an umpire.

Great to see this Simon! As a fellow umpire it's really nice to see these are doing the job! I hope you are looking forward to the new season and able to get out on the pitch over the summer!

UK Hockey Leader

Good hockey shoes.

Excellent grip for playing hockey. I bought these when starting out as they seemed a good deal at under £30. They work well. I expect to get a lot of wear from them. I might go for the more expensive decathlon pair next time.

Great to read that you like them!

Incredible value for money

I was lucky enough to try a pair out from a friend to test these. I’m a beginner and just getting into it so the prospect of paying £45 to £80 for a basic pair of shoes was crazy! These seem to do the same job for a fraction of the price. Very happy!

Excellent Product

Super comfortable and good grip , one of the fine shoes for low intensity players .

It's a very nice product that's why I gave 4 stars overall but I think that comfort level should be slightly more than as compared to all features.

Choosing the right size and model

Like with any sports shoes, your hockey shoes need to fit your feet properly. First, make sure there are no pressure points. Next, ensure your foot does not slip around inside the shoe. This is especially important when playing on artificial turf. Certain models are specially designed for women's feet.

Choosing the right size and model (cont.)

How to know if your shoes fit properly Plant your foot firmly on the ground. While exerting pressure down on your foot, try to move your foot in all directions in the shoe.

Did you know?

Field hockey shoes are designed with 2 specific features: reinforcements, especially at the front of the foot, to protect your feet from impacts from the ball, and a sole suited to field hockey playing surfaces - generally sandy or wet artificial turf - for traction.

Safety tips

Hockey should be fun. Play safely. Always wear your mouthguard, shin guards and a glove. Use hockey shoes with protective reinforcement and soles designed for your playing surface during matches and training.

Outsole in hard rubber with cone shaped spikes for traction. / Supple EVA midsole for cushioning. / The outsole covers the toe for extra protection from impacts from the ball. PU upper to protect against splashes, with a mesh insert for ventilation. / Rigid PU stiffener. / 3D mesh tongue and mesh outer for comfort and ventilation. / 3D mesh sock liner for comfort.

Shoe construction

Field hockey shoes have different sections. Each has a specific purpose. The outsole (in contact with the ground) is generally made of rubber and has spikes. It is hard and provides traction to prevent slipping. The midsole (just above the outsole) is generally made of ethylene-vinyl acetate (EVA).

Shoe construction (cont. 1)

This material provides cushioning at the heel. It may also come up on the instep to improve stability as well as form a toe cap for protection against impacts with the ball. The sock liner is in direct contact with the foot. It is generally made of foam or EVA. Its main purpose is comfort.

Shoe construction (cont. 2)

The upper is the part of your shoe that is not part of the sole assembly. It features several sections. The front section is usually made of PU and mesh fabric. On the inner and outer sides, called the quarter panel, you will often find PU reinforcements. These are frequently design-oriented inserts (brand name or specific design). A stiffener is inserted at the back of the shoe.

Shoe construction (cont. 3)

It is generally reinforced by a plastic plate to stabilize the foot and protect the Achilles tendon. On the top of the shoe is the tongue, which protects the foot from water and stones, etc.
