Warm & Comfy

I took this bag on a 3 day trek into the Redwoods where temps were expected to be in the low 30s F. I really like the design of this bag. I am side sleeper and most bags make me feel claustrophobic. All the adjustments, the two zippers and draft collar contribute to a good nights sleep. I really wish that Decathlon would use this design for a down bag because the only draw back was the weight & volume. I am happy to add this bag to my gear arsonal.

Love

Slept on a 20 degree weather in a tent and this sleeping bag kept me very comfortable. The thing i wish it has a double slider zipper so you can choose where you may want to maintain an opening (sticking your foot out without having to unzip the whole zip) does that make sense.

Zipper

The zipper isn’t good hard to zip, should use a better quality zipper

cold during Scottish summer

Usually a big decathlon fan but extremely disappointed with this sleeping bag. I was cold on a 9 degrees night and the material feels very cheap and uncomfortable to sleep in. Will be returning this item. My friend bought a 20 pound bag from Amazon, and I am sad to say it was better quality than mine.

Hi, thanks for taking the time to review our Forclaz Trekking Sleeping Bag 0c.

I'm sorry to hear that you had a bad experience with this product, the nights in Scotland can definitely be chilly, even in Mid-summer!

However the bag should be able to keep you warm in such conditions, to be honest I'm a little surprised, because I have a 0 degree rated Forclaz bag, although the Trek 900 Down version and in similar conditions find it too warm if anything!

I have a couple of suggestions to help keep you warm, such as using an appropriate insulating sleeping mat such as our Trek 100 Forclaz Foam Mattress. If there is a lot of space inside the bag this can also prevent the insulation from working properly, you can fill any excess space with spare clothes which should help. Wearing a thin hat, some warm socks and maybe a thin thermal base layer could also help. Also using a sleeping bag liner can improve slightly the thermal properties of the bag and also help keep it clean.

That being said, if you are unhappy with the bag I would invite you to pop in to your closest store, where I'm sure they could find a solution for you.

I'm sorry again to hear about your bad experience, I hope you managed to enjoy the rest of your trip!

Regards

Excellent for long trips

I'm so glad for this sleeping bag, I used it for 3 week through mountains, and hills, and it was so great to feel warm at night. It was 3 degrees. It maintained the warmth inside the bag, allowing us to sleep very well all night .  It's water rezistent, and it's very good especially when you are in the UK where in the morning you wake up in the tent, and all the tent is wet inside.  And one nice advantage if you go with your partner, you can zip 2 bags together, and it's very comfortable, you can warm up,when you just sit in a tent, or watch a movie. But I would recommend sleeping separately in bags, because while you sleep the cold air comes through the hole between bodys.I would recommend this sleeping bag because I tried more than 3 bags, and no one is better than this one.   Thank you Decathlon

Nice sleeping bag, when temperature is more cold you also need blankets with it for extra warmth. But it's good quality material, light, and transportable.

Hi Naresh

We appreciate your time in reviewing the product and we are sorry that you had a bad experience.

The reason for feeling cold with 0°C SLEEPING BAG is due to improper usage.

While sleeping with sleeping bags it is mandatory to use a sleeping pad beneath you with a good insulation rating. The filling gets crushed while you sleep with the sleeping bags. to avoid this using a sleeping pad will reduce the crushing of your filling thus keeping you warm.

Recommended to use in Quilt with them too.

Fell free to write back to me if required with more details.

Usage temperature:

All our sleeping bags display the temperature rating and limit temperature, tested by an independent laboratory (AITEX), in accordance with the European standard NF ISO 23537 - 2017. The "comfort temperature" is the lower comfort limit at which a user in relaxed position is in overall thermal balance and is neither hot nor cold (determined for an average woman in normal conditions of use). Choose your sleeping bag according to this criterion.

What are the limit temperatures for usage?

Limit temperature: temperature limit at which the user of the sleeping bag in huddled-up position is generally in thermal equilibrium and is neither cold nor hot (determined for a standard man under normal conditions of use). We recommend using an insulation mattress to optimize your thermal comfort. This sleeping bag is lined with synthetic insulation to ensure its performance even in wet conditions.

However, this is what you need to know about temperatures:

A sleeping bag does not produce heat but retains the heat produced by the body. If you are tired and cold and you slip inside a cold, damp sleeping bag, it is very likely that you will feel cold no matter how good your sleeping bag is! During the night, your thermal comfort will therefore depend not only on climatic conditions (humidity, wind, etc.) but also on your physical condition, your equipment (mattress, etc.) and your clothing (wool underwear, etc.)

For greater comfort, before getting into your sleeping bag:

Dress simply (1 layer of clothing is enough) Warm up your extremities: Use hats, gloves, socks, bed warmers, rubbing, etc. A flask filled with hot water can be used as a foot or bed warmer (so long as there's no chance of it opening by accident!) Contract your muscles (70% of the energy consumed is converted into heat) but without making any movement generating a cold airstream. Use a sleeping bag liner to maximize the heat and hygiene inside your sleeping bag.

Shape:

A generous mummy shape that is wide at the shoulders and narrow at the feet to optimize thermal insulation (no heat loss) and make the product more compact, while maintaining some freedom of movement. Width at the shoulders 28.3", height at the feet 13.4" in size L. 25.2"/11.8" in S, 26.8"/12.6" in M, 29.9"/14.2" in XL. Ergonomic hood; Drawstring. 2 double-slider side zippers, lined with a flap (tube) in anti-cold fill (thermal bridges), side openings. Easy mechanical ventilation.

Weight and dimensions:

Size S 3.2 lbs, user up to 5'3" Bag dimensions: L 16.5" Ø 7.7". 12.5 liter volume. Size M 3.4 lbs, user from 5'3" to 5'7" tall. Bag dim.: L 16.5" Ø 8.1". 13.9 liter volume. Size L 3.7 lbs, user from 5'7" to 6' tall. Bag dim.: L 16.5" Ø 8.5". 15.2 liter volume. Size XL: 3.9 lbs, user from 6'1" to 6'7" tall. Bag dim.: L 16.5" Ø 8.9". Volume 16.7 L. Volume and dimensions may vary according to the compression applied to the product.

Size and thermal insulation:

The weight, volumes, and sizes may vary slightly owing to production tolerances. Try your sleeping bag before buying it to choose the right size for your comfort. The point of a mummy-shaped sleeping bag is to optimize the insulation/weight/volume ratio. Indeed, with a bag that fits close to the body, you will have less volume to heat (saving your energy). Conversely, this type of bag can limit your freedom of movement, especially when the zippers are closed.

Compatibility (continued)

Can be twinned with all the Forclaz Trek 500 sleeping bag models. Can be twinned with the older models in the 2017 "Ultralight" and 2018 "Light" ranges.

Eco-design

Textile dyeing requires a lot of water but also produces waste water from the dye baths. To reduce the impact on the environment, we choose "bi-ton" dyeing, meaning only 1 out of every 2 threads are dyed. This dyed yarn is also dyed using mass pigmentation, using color pigments when the yarn is manufactured.

Eco-design (continued)

Polyester fill made of 70% recycled polyester fibers, thereby reducing its environmental impact. All these eco-design choices lead to a reduction in the CO2 emissions of this sleeping bag of 16% compared to the old model.

Warranty:

This sleeping bag is guaranteed for a period of 5 years from the date of sale indicated on the receipt. The product covered by the guarantee will be repaired or exchanged free of charge. The warranty covers product defects excluding any resulting from normal wear and tear and those resulting from abnormal use. The product and sales receipt are required for this special 5-year warranty to be valid.

Product testing

All our sleeping bags undergo mechanical tests that test the performance and resistance of the sleeping bag to guarantee better sleep and recuperation (thermal resistance, resistance to abrasion, comfort, etc). We also carry out many tests in the field, in real conditions.

Storage instructions

You can easily store your bag by stuffing it loosely into its cover, feet section first. To keep it fluffed up & ensure good thermal performance, remove from its cover, extend, store it in a dry place.
