Question:

I am 6', which size do you recommend?

Answer:

Even though you would technically fit in the Large, most people like to size up if they are in between sizes with sleeping bags to have extra room. Because of this, I would recomend XL

Top duvet for the price

more than decent duvet for a very competitive price

compact, good quality

the sleeping bag is very compact for its thermal parameters. the quality of workmanship is very good. In my opinion, thermal comfort is rather closer to 10 than 5 degrees. people who are more 'chubby' should choose a larger size, the cut is rather narrow.

Great for DofE

Used it for DofE Gold, worked well, slightly cold for October in the Yorkshire Moors, but very warm for May in the same places.

Very good sleeping bag

I have used it many times for nights under the stars or in a tent, nothing to report. On my last outing I used it in bivouac with an MT500 trekking mattress down to about -2°C, I had to dress a little more (thermal underwear and fleece, sleeping bag liner) but I was not cold at all. On the other hand, the bag takes up a little too much space for my taste, for the temperatures at which it can be used.

Sleeping bag

Good quality but not very warm even at 12 degrees outside

Perfectly matches its description

I used it for bivouacs and bike packing, I had nights that went down to 2° with in addition the mist that humidified even in the tent. I admit that at 2° I felt a little cold at the beginning of the night and I was apprehensive but in the end I slept well and that without technical clothing on me. The nights between 5° and 10° I was really very comfortable. My only criticism is on its volume which remains bulky even after compacting. But for its price nothing to say, I will look in the range above to have more compact :) Oh and I would find it great to have waterproof bags compatible with your sleeping bags that we could hang on the handlebars. And the best thing would be that these waterproof bags could be transformed into a buoy to put valuables (in bike packing it is super practical)

Long-distance hiking sleeping bag

Used for GR 20, warm, comfortable, slippery material on sloping bivouacs, a little big for the backpack

Padding: 100.0% Polyester ; Main fabric: 100.0% Polyester ; Carry bag: 100.0% Polyester ; Lining: 100.0% Polyester

What is the temperature rating?

All our sleeping bags display the temperature ratings, tested by an independent laboratory (AITEX), in accordance with the European standard NF ISO 23537 - 1:2022. The comfort temperature rating is the lower limit at which the user in relaxed posture is generally in thermal equilibrium and feels neither too cold nor too hot (for a standard woman in normal conditions of use). Choose your sleeping bag according to this criterion.

What is the temperature rating (lower limit at which you feel comfortable)?

The comfort limit temperature is the temperature limit at which a person curled up in the sleeping bag is in general thermal equilibrium, neither too cold nor too hot (determined for a man in normal conditions of use).We recommend using an insulation mattress to optimise your thermal comfort.

An important clarification concerning the iso 23537-1 standard

In the context of this standard, the measurement protocol of a sleeping bag’s thermal protection uses a mattress with thermal resistance equal to an R-value of 4.8.This means that by using a less insulating mattress, the thermal performance of your sleeping bag will be lower. We therefore recommend you use an insulating mattress to optimise your thermal comfort.

Some advice to consider before you get into your bag

Dress simply (1 layer of clothing is enough). Warm-up your extremities: hats, gloves, socks, hand/feet warmers, rubdowns, etc. A flask of hot water can be used as a hot water bottle (as long as there's no chance of it accidentally opening!) Contract your muscles (70% of the energy consumed is converted into heat) but do it without moving as this could create a draught. Use a bag liner to optimise warmth and avoid washing your sleeping bag too frequently.

Style

A generous mummy shape that is wide at the shoulders and narrow at the feet to optimise thermal insulation (no heat loss) and make the product more compact, while maintaining some freedom of movement.Width at the shoulders 70 cm, height at the feet 32 cm in size L. 62/28 in S, 66/30 in M, 74/34 in XL.

Weight and dimensions

Size S: 980 g, user up to 1.59m tall. Bag dimensions: L 40 cm Ø 17 cm. Volume 9.1 L.Size M: 1100 g, user from 1.60m to 1.69m tall. Bag dim.: L 40 cm Ø 18 cm. Functions

Ergonomic hood with drawcord.A baffle along the zips prevents heat loss.Double-slider zips for optimal ventilation. The top of the sleeping bag can be opened with the two side zips.

Want to know more about the wadding?

We use 2 layers of overlapping wadding: - One 60 gr/m2, 100% polyester -and one 115 gr/m2, 100% polyesterIt has the advantage of keeping its warmth even when wet.

Compatibility

Can be twinned with all the Forclaz MT500 sleeping bag models. Can be twinned with the older models in the 2017 InchUltralight Inch and 2018 InchLight Inch ranges.

Product testing

All our sleeping bags undergo mechanical tests that test the performance and resistance of the sleeping bag to guarantee better sleep and recuperation (thermal resistance, resistance to abrasion, comfort, etc). We also carry out many tests in the field, in real conditions.

Storage instructions

You can easily store your bag by stuffing it loosely into its cover, feet section first. To keep it fluffed up & ensure good thermal performance, remove from its cover, extend, store it in a dry place.
