Pretty good but immediately lost a screw

These arrived last weekend and were fitted with the help of a Youtube video. Being new to such pedals I found the instructions on the box extremely confusing. They really could do with providing better instructions. I also fitted the SPD cleats to my shoes (also BTWIN) and thought I had tightened the screws sufficiently but on my second trip out one of the screws fell out of the bottom of the shoe and got lost. I can get a replacement but this is annoying. Will make sure I tighten them before each use in future.

lost a screw the day they arrived

pedals arrived this afternoon. set everything up and went for a ride, very content and all was working well until about 15 miles in. I noticed a strange noise and my left foot wasnt locking in place, got off to check the problem, only to find the tension screw and plate had come loose and fallen from the pedal. shouldn't be a problem to fix just very annoying!

Hello. Thank you for leaving a review on the dual platform pedals and sorry to hear the tension screw came loose while riding. Very annoying indeed! Please do get in touch if you are unable to fix it and we can send out a replacement set. Thanks again.

I like these pedals

Been using these for about a year now on a road bike. Clipping in and out is very positive and easy. Nice looking pedals and look good on my road bike.Going to get another pair for my second bike. Great price. I sometimes use the flat side for pushing off in traffic before clipping in. I reckon these would be good for commuters stopping and starting at traffic lights.Haven't experienced any reliability issues.

No good as flats.

Work well as clips adjust with an Alan key. The flat side has no grip especially if wet. Better off with decent flats or going for just clips.

Hello. Thank you for your review of these pedals. It is very important to us and shall be reviewed with the design team. Don't forget you have 365 days to return or exchange the item with your Decathlon Loyalty Account for a pair of flat or clipless pedals if these are more suited to your riding. Fingers crossed for some dry riding weather soon!

Bike pedals

Worked well easy to fit on my stationary bike I recently bought so I can use it with clippons and my son can use it with his trainers

Bad. Pedals worked 1.5 years and then one broke.

Pedals worked for one year and a half (30 minutes 3 times per week, I was 73 kgs ) and then left pedal broke in a standing position giving me a long and severe cut on the back of my leg. Went immediately to A&E cause profuse bleeding and now I have a horrible scar on the back of my leg.

Dear Sir,
I'm sorry to read that the pedal broke on your bike. I also hope that your leg is better.
The axle is made out of cromoly steel and therefore should not snap at all (if this is he case). I am unable to determine why this happened.
You have a 2yr warranty with this item in case of a manufacturing defect. Please contact your local Decathlon store of the online loyalty team who will be more than happy to assist and discuss the matter directly with you in more detail.

Good idea but not the best execution.

Bought these for my winter bike which I also use for popping to the shops etc. Therefore I didn't want to have to put my SPD shoes on for quick journeys. My problem is that although the size and shape of the "flat/non-SPD" side is good, it's also really slippy! There are no pins or cleats like most flat pedals just a very subtle texture on a smooth paint surface. This not only makes selecting the flat side tricky but also means I have had my feet slip off of the pedals! This is particularly a problem in the wet. Shame as this could've been a really good product.

2 pairs, both Failed after 2000 km riding

I've now had 2 pairs of these, both have failed by the axle coming out of the body after approx. 2000 km of riding in all weathers, as they have been used for daily commuting. There is no user serviceable parts, so not a lot that can be done to extend their life. I'm "heavy", but was promised these would hold up. The warranty /guarantee is great as the first were replaced without hassled, and I expect the second pair to be as well, but I really don't want to have to go back to the store "again" to get another set. Just save yourself the hassle and get a set of proper Shimano A530's instead,

BTwin SPD Dual platform Pedals

These pedals are easy to fit onto your bike, the clip tension can be adjusted to suit but unfortunately, if you lose the tension bolt, it can't be replaced (or so I was told by a Decathlon staff member) so you have to buy a new set of pedals hence I've only rated them as "Good"

Good option but not so durable

These are among the cheapest dual platform pedals available and are a good match for mixed terrain (I tend to clip out riding off-road or in heavy traffic). However, the bearings have gone after approximately 1000 miles - pedals are flexing on the shaft and creaking under power. Will probably pay slightly more and replace with the Shimano equivalent.

Squeak and creak

Pedals themselves are ok, but boy do they squeak and creak! Greased the spindle into the cranks, lubed the springs and cleats, even waxed my spd shoes, but cannot get the irritating noise to go away (switched old pedals back in, and bike immediately stops complaining!)

Good value

Pedal face eventually separated from pedal spindle but they had covered 5000 miles in all weather

Murphys Law

I was sold this £25 pedal to go with my Rockrider 560. A completely inappropriate pedal and a waste of my Cyclescheme allowance. Not wide enough and dangerous for steep uphill technical riding. Take your foot off pedal for a second and it flips over to SPD. Try to get foot back on flat side & fall off bike. Nightmare. Do not buy this pedal unless you plan to use it for SPD only.

Dear sir,
Unfortunately, some dual function pedals can suffer from this issue.  Riding on the flat causes few issues but if you're engaging and disengaging regularly on steep climbs for example then you will need to be mindful and flip the pedal over with you toe during your first stroke.
If you feel that you can not continue riding with this pedal then please return it to us for an exchange as we do have another model which does not suffer as much as it is more balanced and has a better customer rating:
