I am Pascal from Konkan Explorers (Goa). We propose kayaking excursions and we have been using with our passengers, the Itiwit Inflatable Kayak for the last two months in a river and the sea. If you do not have space for storing a rigid kayak or/and you are searching for original destination to explore, this kayak for one or two persons is a valuable option. The most obvious quality of this equipment is its handyness. Presented in its backpack (14 kgs), this kayak can easily be carried on a scooter. And with the use of the Itiwit double action pump, it gets fully ready in less than 10 mins. This is possible thanks to the fact that it requires a low pressure inflation (only 1.5 PSI). In spite of this, do not think it is going to be a floppy, saggy craft... The kayak presents three compartments which once inflated work like an ingenious kind of a structure providing reinforced rigidity. Thanks to this and with the help of three removable fins underneath, the kayak impresses once in the water with a good tracking as well as an excellent manoeuvrability. These qualities are constant whether used in solo or tandem. One important thing is to inflate fully the seats (1.5 PSI) otherwise the position is too low and it becomes difficult and quite strenuous to paddle efficiently. Besides the satisfactory nautical qualities, this Kayak designed for activities on flat water (river, lake, sea) surprises by its safety. First, the fact that it proposes three independent compartments is a crucial pledge of safety. Second, it offers a flawless stability. It is simply extremely difficult to tip this kayak. If ever it happens the re-integration in the craft from the water is smooth. It appears that the general quality of the product is excellent for this range of price. A well thought strong outer fabric protects efficiently the inflatable compartments from light contact with unfriendly surfaces. But do not forget that it is an inflatable device, so be careful of rocks, shells, roots, and more generally, of any contact with the ground. For summarizing a fun, innovative, safe, and affordable kayak for the ones who want to develop a closer contact with nature.
Thank you so much for taking out time and reviewing the ITIWIT Inflatable kayaks in such detail. I live in a first floor flat and have no-where to store a rigid kayak, so I looked at inflatable alternatives. I found this one after visiting my local Decathlon store and couldn't believe the great quality for the price. I didn't hesitate and bought one straight away. It is great that I don't need a roof rack on my car and I can store it in my bedroom cupboard . It only takes about 10 minutes to inflate with the Itiwit double action pump. I am a big man and had trouble finding a kayak that would take my weight (117kg) but this does the job brilliantly, even after I have loaded it with a couple of dry bags full of spare clothing etc. I definitely recommend this kayak, especially if you are a beginner like me and don't want to spend a fortune. Also for a beginner, it is very stable and track well with the included fins on the bottom. Decathlon also provide a great range of spares for the kayak, I have now got spare fins and Boston valves because these can get lost if you're as clumsy as me :-)
Bought this in the spring and I've taken it out about a dozen times. Mostly short river trips, a few times off a beach and a few times for day trips. Great boat, no problems at all and I would definitely recommend it!! Here's some more details... I chose it because the pack-away aspect means I can take it on the bus or in a friend's car, since I don't own a car of my own. Carrying the rucksack: it's pretty heavy but once it's on your back it's ok. I and a couple of friends of all genders have carried it 5-10 mins just fine, longest I've carried it is about 20 mins and that was about my limit. We're all prob average fitness. Inflation/deflating: super quick and easy. 5-10 mins tops. Took me a few tries to figure out exactly how to fold it up but there's a technique, follow the directions in the book and it's really easy. Experience on the water: the boat is significantly more stable than your average hard shell kayak, a bit more like a canoe, which means it's great for taking out inexperienced or nervous friends with you. With the skegs on the bottom it tracks just fine, I'm told that without them the tracking is a bit worse. Since it's inflatable I'm a bit more careful about things like rocks, hidden objects underwater etc than I would be with a hard shell kayak. But it's pretty sturdy to be honest and I've banged into a couple of underwater trees and scraped it along the sides of locks and things with no problems. The material is very tough. You can't seal launch or drag it along the ground but that's fine for me. Very easy to board as it's so stable on the water. Comfort: it's a decent size for two people. I'm 5"10' and mostly take out shorter friends, no problems with leg room and you can fit a day trip's worth of gear into the back and under your legs. Have put a friend who is 6" in it with somebody else and she was fine for leg room. You can also turn the boat into a single really easily. The back support is decent and is adjustable and you can easily find a comfortable paddling position. If you are used to a closed hard shell kayak, the only thing is you don't feel quite as "locked in" to the boat as you would in one of those. Control is fine on a normal river or calm ocean but I wouldn't feel in control doing white water or anything. I tried out a deep water re-entry last time I had it on the ocean and it was very doable for somebody with average upper body strength. Other gear: I bought Itiwit buoyancy aids and the pump and a 230cm split paddle. The BAs and pump are fine, the paddle's generally good but it's a bit short if you're the person in the back. So for a second paddle I bought a 240cm one online. You need a paddle with longer reach than in a hard shell boat because the inflatable boat is slightly bulkier. Overall the paddling experience is very good, I've had some great times with this boat!!
My first point would be to say how excellent the service was I received at the Chelmsford store. The sales assistant went out of his way to help resolve an issue with a gift voucher I had. I have only used the kayak once so far, on a tidal river. It was great fun! Easy to inflate and surprising rigid and stable on the water, especially given the low pressure it is inflated to. It was quick to deflate when I'd finished with it. It feels good quality for the price and I'm looking forward to using it a lot more. It did take a while to dry out properly after I'd given it a good wash after use. I think one small improvement could be made to the paddles, and that would be a larger disc on the paddle shaft as you do get some water running down the paddle into the boat. This could be my dodgy technique though :) Overall I'm very happy with my purchase.
This kayak is very well thought out and very well made, it's easy to assemble straight out of the bag and just as easy to pack away. On the water it performs very well, I couldn't ask for more and for the price it's a bargain.
I have been constantly impressed by this boat and its versatility. I use it on my local rivers and canals. This summer I took it to Corfu, Greece and used it extensively on the West Coast exploring caves and boat only beaches. It was stable and fun. I was able to fit the kayak, 2 of the Decathlon 3 piece paddles, two of the red decathlon foam life jackets and an Intex dual action (I'm not a fan of the decathlon pump) into the bag this came in. It weighed 19.9Kg and it survived being hold luggage on a budget airline both there and back with no issues. I used it for 5 whole days straight in winds up to 25kmh and it sat in the 35 degrees heat on the beach inbetween. For less than £200 this kayak is fantastic and all I'll ever need! This has lasted 13 individual trips so far and has been put away wet and left for weeks at a time without damage or mildew (busy lives!) so in my opinion robust too. You do need all three skegs on the bottom in any sort of breeze though.
Using two person itiwit so I can carry camping equipment on fermanagh lakes
For the low price of this kayak my expectations were exceeded and more. It is incredibly easy to assemble taking less than 5 minutes from getting out of the bag and into the water. The design cannot be flawed as I purposely tried to tip the kayak much to the dismay of my partner and found it exceedingly difficult even when standing up. I cannot recommend this product enough
I've now taken the Itiwit Kayak out on both Sea and river and am extremely pleased with it. The design of the kayak is very well thought out. It is made of a strong outer fabric with the plastic inflatable inside this giving me faith that it will withstand bumps and scrapes on rocks and branches, it comes with 3 skegs on the bottom that really help the tracking which can be a big issue for an inflatable kayak. it is also very well thought out for when it comes to drying out with the bottom panel being removable so it can be taken out which allows it to dry quicker. The valves are great and all attached by string to stop you misplacing them, it inflated quickly but also deflated quickly and once you've got the hang of packing it up this is a surprisingly quick process. The obvious advantage of an inflatable kayak is that it packs ice and easily in the average car boot and is very transportable. The down sides are (and please note this is respect of all inflatables not just this model): the wind pushes this around very easily, it's only really feasible to take this out on a still day. The kayak has a very wide base making it extremely stable but not very fast, you need to paddle quite vigorously to keep up with a solid body kayak. I've also got a Sevylor kayak and I must say this is miles better in both build quality and design, its much more rigid and sits better in the water, it comes with everything you need out of the box but with the Sevylor I had to buy better valves and a skeg as extra's. If you've decided to go down the inflatable kayak route I think this is a great option
Really like the kayak and was great fun on two lakes in Manchester/Cheshire last couple of weeks. 1 problem though is that there is a small tear already on on the underside of the boat, have repaired using the repair pack that comes with it, but disappointed that it has teared on its second use. It was only used in still water lakes and not near any rocks as launched from a jetty. No contact details on the itiwit page for support. Hoping that the patch fixes it otherwise it will be returned.
My husband and I brought one each , the side kept going down , we took it back to store and picked it up again the next day , they said it was fine , it wasn’t, the side was still going down and the middle of the boat popped so it was uneven , we got an exchange , then after the winter months we went to go out on them again pumped mine up to find that the middle part had come apart at the seam so we can’t even try to fix it with a puncher repair kit , it was completely fine the last time I used it , it had been put away dry in its bag , so I don’t know how it split , it said online that we could pick up an replacements centre part up from reading, we went all the way there to find out they don’t have it and we are now going all the way to Guildford . It’s a shame as they are great fun but a lot of hassle , we had these boats for 10 and a half months but didn’t use them at all in winter , so in total I would say they have only been used 5 times
Good value. Well made. Easy to inflate, use, deflate and store for next time. Have used it in harbours, rivers and lochs. So far no issues !
We where give this as a wedding gift, we have used it many times on rivers, lakes and recently the sea, excellent on all. I have purchased a standard electric pump to get most of the air in to it and then use the double pump to get it to the correct pressure, have also inflated with the double pump in less than 10 minutes. excellent purchase i think i need to buy drip rings as an addition and possibly longer paddles but apart from that, its an excellent choice.
I've only used this once so far but so, so impressed. I was looking at it for a while unsure wether to take the plunge. Extremely glad I did. I used it on the river with my 7 year old and found it to be study and responsive. Theres plenty of room to store your bits and pieces in the back. Pumps up in no time. Packs away nice and small. We put 2 of the 4 part oars in the bag and strapped the pump the outside with no problem. You do need to strip it apart to dry it though but I think that won't be a problem once you get used to doing it. All in all seems great. Cant wait to get back out on it.
only used a couple of times-weather changed just after purchase. Inflation and deflation is quick and easy. As a complete novice kayaker, it felt stable and easy to paddle.

Inflate the floor first, then one of the side tubes, then the second one to 50%. Check the overall chamber positioning. Then inflate to 100% without exceeding 0.1 bar (1.5 psi). DO NOT OVERINFLATE! Fully close all of the valves. Install the 3 keels unless using on a river containing little water. In the event of EXTREME HEAT, slightly deflate the kayak out of the water to avoid overinflation, which could damage the kayak. Do not leave inflated in direct sunlight: risk of overinflation.
In the event of damage to one of the side chambers, open the side tube lengthwise using the zipper and remove the chamber. The floor can be uncovered by opening the velcro fastenings. Example 1: the hole is in the side tube; you can use the repair kit to stick on a patch. Example 2: the hole is located along a seam; visit the workshop of a DECATHLON store to repair or exchange the bladder.
New carry bag, backpack style for short distances. Easy clip fins. Deflate the kayak by opening the 3 "Boston" valves. Fold the lateral tubes down onto the floor. Roll starting from the opposite side to the valves to remove the air. Place the rolled-up kayak into the main compartment of the bag. Close the zipper and tighten using the compression strap.
The seats are high, providing increased comfort for adults in the paddling position. The seats are to be placed according to the number of persons on board, just behind the markings printed on the floor. On the "2" markings (which therefore remain visible) when there are 2 persons on board. On the "1" marking when there is only 1 person on board. Ensure that you balance your load to optimize kayak performance.
Patented bow shape: the front and back ends provide good glide. The V-shaped front of the kayak enables smooth entry into the water.
