Product Customer Reviews

I purchased a pair of these a few years ago after seeing a mountain guide wearing a pair and having pretty cold hands myself at the time thought they would be worth a shot. Since then worn them on plenty of days out in the Scottish hills in winter and been amazed by how good the gloves are for the price! The only downside is dexterity, they aren't the most nimble of gloves, but work decently well for climbing lower grade routes where hanging around fiddling with gear isn't too much of an issue. For the price i would highly recommend them as they're great for keeping hands warm and dry.
Good gloves
I recommend this product happy with purchase.
I was looking for some winter gloves and the Simond Cascade fitted my needs. Reasonably warm, I've used them in -15 °C on the local snowy mountains. Hardwearing, good fit, and the leather padding sensibly placed. I also like the subtle colour of black/grey rather than the bright tan some manufactures are using. All in all a good low priced glove.
Fantastic glove
Have used this glove twice on the mountains and it’s clear it’s not a durable design. After the first usage stitching was coming loose. This is the first decathlon/Simond product with very poor build quality. The design of the glove itself is good and if it was well made then I’d happily recommend but at present I can’t. As a full time mountain professional, gloves are very important to me and have bought many pairs over the years. These are the first gloves I have bought that have had stitching come loose after 1 use.
I am sorry to hear that the Simond Cascade Gloves did not meet with your expectations. All Simond products go through rigorous testing to make sure that they can meet a climber's demand on the mountain. Unfortunately some products can sometimes slip through the net.
If you take this faulty pair back to your nearest Decathlon, with a proof of purchase you can either swap them for a new pair or get a refund.
Once again I apologise that the Simond Cascade Gloves were not up to standard.

First time I pulled them on the stitching failed on the pull loop. Now left with a frayed mess I am going to have to cut off. Not good for first use under no stress. Hope the rest of the stitching doesn't perform like that on the mountain!
I am sorry that the Simond Cascade gloves did not meet with your expectations. You are correct; the stitching should not fail on the first use.
If you take the gloves back to your nearest Decathlon store, with receipt or Decathlon Card, then they will be able to organise and exchange for you.
Once again I am sorry for the inconvenience caused.
Kind Regards

Sturdy leather palm grip area, reinforced knuckle is a bonus and adjustment is excellent. Not the warmest gloves but ideal for active use. Bargain price!
I wear these when mountaineering in Scottish winters. I can vouch for them in their stated temperature range. I've had ice building up on the outside of the glove while my hand was warm inside. They aren't waterproof forever of course (only marigolds are!) so long days with hands constantly in snow/ice would mean you may wish to have a second pair. The palm grips on rock just fine, no problems with dexterity with an ice axe, but you won't be re-tying your laces with them on. The wrist loops are essential for preventing you losing them and the gloves can be tightened up on the wrist with the toggle perfectly adequately - in windy conditions I did not get cold air blowing in. They just work, and for 22 quid you cannot say fairer than that. Mitts are ultimately the warmest but I'd buy these again. If I needed some finger dexterity in even colder conditions I might get a size up and wear liner gloves inside these.
Seems well up to the job and great value !
I brought these as the larger sizes in the more expensive pair were not available. Anyway there were cheep, so not much lost and i needed a pair that was at least waterproof, my old pair had had it. Anyway used them for waterfall climbing in Italy, and they were far too warm, half a pitch and the gloves were sticking from sweat, only to then freeze on the stance. After modification the first night though (rip the as much insulation out as possible with aid of scissors) they work very well and kept me going for the rest of the week.
I have purchased many different gloves over the years, and had various successes and failures at different prices. I bought these gloves as a last minute decision to wear whilst icefall climbing in Italy. Upon receipt, I have to say my first impressions were good. These are a flexible comfortable glove, with a good level of insulation. The fit was better than many others I have tried, with not too much space at the ends of the fingers. The only disappointment was the stitching on the hanging loops at the wrists. It didn't take much for these to separate from the glove. I cut them off to get rid of the frayed elastic rather than try to restitch them. In active use, these gloves are excellent. Temperatures in the Italian Alps were a little warmer than usual this winter (but still below Zero), and these gloves performed perfectly. Warm enough to get away with a silk liner glove only. Flexible enough to provide the dexterity to place and remove ice screws and to handle double ropes effectively. The padding over the knuckles is just enough to protect them from the ice, and the leather palms appear to be robust enough to withstand extended periods of ice axe use. Overall, and excellent really good value winter climbing glove. I will probably buy a second pair for use in Scotland (always handy to have another spare pair in the wetter winters there).
Good warm gloves
As ever Simond have produced a good quality product at a great price. I have just been up in the Cairngorms and used the cascade glove exclusively while climbing. It is a snug fit, and unlike most gloves I have I cannot wear a thin liner underneath the glove. The gloves performed very well in action, dexterous when handling ropes and gear, warm, although not the conditions were only -6 feeling like -12 They did get damp at the end off the day but that was 6+ hours of winter climbing. There were signs of wear at the end of two full days of climbing, but I would expect that. There are better gloves out there but you will pay twice or three times the price. For most people who only climb when they can an don't work in the mountains day in, they are great.
I own several bits of Simond gear so when the Cascade gloves were released I was keen to give them a go. I've used them whilst walking on an Iclandic glacier and caving in the Peak District - completely waterproof with enough wrist protection. The elastic wrist straps are great and the pull on loops and very useful and sturdier than they feel. Obviously not as warm and a more expensive glove so would suggest a liner for very cold conditions, but will be keeping these as my back up gloves for winter climbing and a great glove for the price.
