City cycling rain overtrousers

Its hard to beat these pants when it comes to value for money versus performance. Have done a good job of keeping the rain out, and condensation to a minimum. Dont get the boil in the bag feeling you do with a lot of waterproofs. As for the built in overshoes. Genius. Keep your feet dry and your shoes clean. And the hi vis patches on the bottom of the legs help you be seen on a dark wet commute.

Rain Trousers

Great fit, recommend go to one or two sizes bigger than your normal clothes if you wear over other clothes

Good value and waterproof

I read the reviews about these trousers before purchase and and agree with others that they are snug as over-trousers for commuting (and tight around my waist). However, they do fit and are definitely waterproof. I bought them because they have the shoe covers built in but the more I wear them the more I wonder whether this is the best option. The 'shoe protection' collects the water draining off the trousers when hung on a hanger (as needed at my workplace) and is usually still wet when I put them back on. The bottom of each leg has a large zip which I assumed was to allow you to take off the trousers over the shoes. This is not possible in my case because I wear large waterproof trainers and with the legs of the trousers being so snug I got them half way off and got stuck. It was quite amusing to the other person in the changing room. However, these are all minor gripes when compared to what I bought them for (to be waterproof) and in summary I'd say these trousers are a good purchase and definitely good value for money.

So well thought out, and well made

From the top, these have an elasticated waistband, popper fastening and Velcro fly - they're easy to get on, in other words. Then, have have pocket openings! I can't overstate how important this is. Not actual pockets, but pocket openings, so you can get to your actual trouser pockets underneath; you can get to your bike lock keys and money easily, without having to take the overtrousers off. And these are zippered openings - so many cheaper overtrousers just have slits for accessing pockets, completely ignoring the fact that the purpose of overtrousers is to keep you dry, and a gaping pocket slit just lets water in... The side of the lower leg is zippered too, making it easy to put the overtrousers on when you've got shoes on. And the backs of the lower legs are bright yellow - a nice safety feature, as is the clip on each lower leg allowing you to attach small lights for added visibility. And finally, the legs end in elastic under-shoe straps to keep the trousers from riding up and - brilliantly - waterproof caps to keep the worst off your shoes too. Finally, the whole lot folds up into its own back pocket, which is again that hi-viz, fluorescent yellow/green colour, and has integrated Velcro straps so that you can tie it onto something (your frame, for example) if you've run out of pockets and bag space. Yes, they really have thought of everything.

heel problem

pants are good but in rain the heels are wet.

really waterproof without condensation inside

Tested these to the full when cycling through a small flood and a car coming the other way chose not to slow down giving me a full drenching- not a drop went through! I am 5'2" and ordered extra small although the size guide suggested medium. They fit but are still quite long and although I like the shoe covers they are really too big for my size 4 feet Would be good if there was some way to turn them up or adjust for shorter legs or have a women's fit. The belt for putting it round your waist when packed away could be a bit bigger Great value for money though.

Dry feet yeahh

Excellent waterproof trousers!

Additional Product Information

Composition

Main fabric

  • 100% Polyamide

Yoke

  • 100% Polyester cationic

Cut

Unisex fit adapted to urban cycling. Built-in overshoes to protect shoes in the rain. Remember to properly position the overshoe's elastic behind the heel to ensure a good hold while pedaling. For greater freedom of movement, if you need to tighten the cuffs of your overpants, we recommend using an additional pants clip.

Waterproofing

These overpants are waterproof thanks to the durability and coating of their fabric and sealed seams. A fabric's waterproofing is determined by measuring its resistance to the pressure exerted by a water column, measured in mm (test based on ISO 811 standard). Our component is resistant to the pressure from 2,000 mm of water. The finished product is approved in a shower test in the lab, where we recreate the conditions of an average downpour: 60 L water per square meter per hour for 2 hours.

Breathability

Hydrophilic coating (RET = 12): reduces build up of condensation inside clothing. To find out whether a fabric is breathable, we test its evaporative resistance or RET (based on the ISO 11092 standard). The lower its resistance, the more the fabric lets water vapor produced by the body escape, and the more breathable it is. For example: RET < 9 = extremely breathable fabric. 9 < RET < 12 = highly breathable fabric. 12 < RET < 20 = breathable fabric. RET > 20 = slightly or not breathable fabric.

Compatibility with lights

This product has a hook at the back of each leg onto which you can fit the VIOO CLIP, an LED light that can be clipped anywhere and unclips in a flash. With a red or white light that can be used in continuous or flashing mode, you are clearly visible from up to 120 yds. away. The battery (9 hours in flashing mode, 4½ hours in continuous mode) is easy to charge using a USB cable (sold with the VIOO Clip).

Product testing

This garment has passed a shower test of 60 L water/sqm/hour for 2 hours. This test reproduces the average conditions of a rain shower in the city. The waterproof strips have a life span of 2 years for regular use (around 3 times a week). To keep them in good condition, fully open the rip-tabs at the cuffs of your overpants when putting them on to avoid rubbing against your shoes. Also remember to apply a waterproofing spray after washing.

Storage instructions

Don't pack the product away when it is still wet as condensation may form, keeping the product damp. Leave your product to fully dry after use before packing it away.

Care instructions

Machine wash at 86°F. Do not tumble dry. Do not iron.
