chamois is uncomfortable

chamois too big and moves around too much, poor design. otherwise seem ok.

Road racing shorts

Everything was good about this product, but I thought the mesh shoulder straps were to flimsy But otherwise bottom part was great

A taste of serious riding

This would be my very first proper cycling shorts with proper padding and I have to say it felt really comfortable riding on the saddle, although not so much off the saddle. I felt a bit of rubbing during climbs or off the saddle sprinting, but most likely will be reduced with use and time

Great bibs

These are my favourite bib shorts. Great for long hours in the saddle. Chamois is more comfortable than expensive trendy brand at half the price. I’d take half a star off if I could because the straps are a touch short.

Van Rysel bib shorts

Purchased by my daughter for a father's Day gift done a steady fifty and have to say these shorts felt great .I will be definitely buying another pair . When I first got them I did think the straps were a bit too flimsy but couldn't have been more wrong no digging in on the shoulders at all.

Appear to be good quality but sizing is off

I am 1.85m and 82kg ordered the XL based on the sizing chart and found they were too short in the body with the straps pulling tight on my shoulders. I liked the look and feel of them so asked for a 2XL pair as a replacement. These were a perfect fit everywhere except for the elastic edging material under the leg grippers which was baggy and had no elasticity! I have had lots of cycling bibs/shorts over the years and never seen anything like it. I may a have been unlucky but be careful with the sizing. The Decathlon returns/replacement process was faultless.

Excellent bib shorts at the price

I'm a committed Decathlon buyer - because they provide value for money right through the range of cycling goods. I've bought many incarnations of Decathlon cycling bib shorts and they have not let me down. They retain their quality feel despite numerous outings and provided the washing instructions are followed are always comfortable. My only minor gripe is that they are somewhat boring in colour by comparison with some other bib shorts, but that does not detract from the quality. Fabtastic.

Odd fitting pad

First the negatives: 1 the pad, 2 the straps The pad at first feels great and if you never get out of the saddle then it stays good, sadly out of the saddle reveals the pad is too wide at the front and leads to discomfort "down there" and yet no discomfort when seated in the saddle. The straps are very flimsy and tangle too easily when putting the shorts on but once untangled and seated correctly they are fine and go unnoticed. The shorts themselves are a great fit with good leg grippers and stay in place, comfy enough pad for about 40 miles anything longer and I want a different pad. The Lycra is very thin material and so really only suitable for summer, late spring and very early autumn. Reasonable pair of shorts for the money but the 500 range shorts with leg pocket is essentially the same, and better value.

Road R 5oo bib shorts

sorry if this is in the wrong place but I can't find anywhere to place a review of the road 500 bib shorts. I bought these a little over a month ago and have just got around to trying them. What a disappointment. After 3 hours of riding I was in great discomfort in the seat area, and also the padding around the crotch area was not holding my "bits" in place properly, which also caused discomfort. Also the straps, which are now just a flimsy elastic material, roll up very thin and dig in around the shoulder area. I know I have bought the correct size as they are the same size as my B'Twin 500's which I bought some years ago (and am still using) so anything any bigger would be too big. These bib shorts are not in the same league as my B'Twin bib shorts and are therefore a great disappointment to me.

Great bib shorts - Size XXL

Unfortunately the straps are narrow, but they fit well and have a great chamois pad

Aesthetic improvements only, otherwise pretty poor

Such a shame what Decathlon have done to their higher end bib-shorts. The superb 900 series replaced with the pathetic new RC500 and now the excellent Aerofit replaced with these poorly considered substitutes. The fabric used is now so thin as to be seethrough (sheer), and offers no compression at all. And the leg hems are far too tight for shorts intended for sporting rider, presumably by riders like me with more developed legs. The only possible improvement is in the bib section (suspenders/braces) where the shoulder straps are seamless and edged with a grippy material that looks like its intended to keep it flat and stop it bunching up. Oh Decathlon, what have you done!?

Hello. Thank you for taking the time to leaving a review for the new Van Rysel bibshorts. Your feedback has been given directly to the product manager for consideration. Having worn the same shorts this summer I would highly recommend exchanging for another pair to check if the see-through problem is a one off. If you don't mind providing more detailed feedback about the RC500 shorts I can pass it on to the relevant person too. Many thanks again for your review and loyalty.

Terrible Seam Placement

Extremely frustrated with these bib shorts; they appear to be manufactured from high quality materials and are very comfortable around the legs and have good padding, however the shoulder straps are joined to the front of the bib and sewn at a middling height. On me, these then rub right across my nipples and are extremely uncomfortable/painful. Have tried them 6 times now and every time I end up wriggling out of the straps and have them hanging loose at my side. Really irritating product design. If it wasn't for that they would be 5 stars

Hello there. Thank you for leaving your feedback on these bib shorts. I have been riding with the same pair this summer and as you mentioned the padding and the fit around the legs are great. If you are having problems with the straps though please do not hesitate to exchange for another pair at your local store and see if it's the stitching on that particular pair that seems to be causing the chafing.

Great bibshorts

Can't fault them. Put them on, went out, didn't think about them again. Comfortable, stay in place. Shoulder straps felt a bit light but once you're out, no problems. Best shorts I've owned so far and for £50, a steal.

Black VAN RYSEL

Our team of product designers based at the B'Twin Village in Lille is continuously working to make cycling more comfortable for our users. Our obsession is about developing products that meet cyclists' specific needs, overcoming the hindrances of cycling. We then test our products in the field, as we are convinced that only by subjecting them to real-world conditions, like the ones you experience on your bike, can we continuously improve our products.

A product's environmental impact is calculated for its entire lifecycle using various indicators. An overall rating (ABCDE) is given, allowing you to easily identify products with the best environmental performance by comparing similar products to each other (T-shirts, pants, backpacks etc.).
