The best at price range . And really good material. I love it that much that i bought 3 more of them from my local decathlon
I was on the cusp of L & XL sizes being 42 chest, so I went a size up being a few stone over weight with a lil' belly & moobs. The fit of the XL is nice, still very snug but just enough room to be comfortable, with some more riding & a bit of weight loss it'll fit just perfect. For someone who is a 42 chest and skinny with no extra lumpy bits, I'd suggest getting the Large. The jacket itself is nice & warm, I've riden it a few times in 4-8 degrees with very strong winds so it feels much colder than the temp suggests but the jacket did it's job in keeping me very comfortable. Quality is excellent, zero complaints with stiching or anything else feels very premium. It is slightly short on the rear but not that bad, there's a nice rubber strip inside the hem which stops the jacket rising up your back/waist. Pockets are decent size and keep things very secure, there is even one on the left front side which is handy to stash a pair of gloves when not on your hands. Brilliant jacket for the money, would recommend to anyone.

Excellent winter jacket, quality excellent for price point, need to size up though as Large is not a 42/44 chest. Go XL for this chest size!

I currently commute approx 20 miles a day between work and home. I was looking for something to keep warm during the winter, but wouldn't overheat me. This fits the bill very well - keeps warm enough down to 0 degrees (recommend a base layer or 2 underneath if close to freezing), whilst not overheating. Also has very good water resistance when raining, which is great for winter. Good pockets and looks decent too. Only negative is that i would say it's a bit short (it's also tight, but that is the way it is supposed to be). Would prefer slightly longer at the back.
Bought this to replace my old wind proof jacket that was falling apart. Highly recommend this jacket in terms of quality, look, feel and fit. Van Rysel are knocking these garments out the bag, looks like a premium piece, fits like a premium piece and feels like a premium piece. This jacket holds up really well in the wet and windy uk winter and keeps me warm with just a base layer underneath. Sizing is good I upsized to a large just for a bit more comfort when on longer rides however a medium would of been fine. Would highly recommend this jacket over more expensive and premium brands! You won’t be disappointed
I bought this jacket as my MTB one is a bit too baggy for the road . First ride out in it was a great test cold, windy and raining so not ideal riding conditions but the jacket did its job and made the ride as comfortable as possible . A couple of the other riders commented on the Jacket and couldn’t believe it when I told them it was only £40 . The only thing I’d say is the chest pocket isn’t big enough for my phone but my phone is huge so not the designers fault really . Great product couldn’t recommend it highly enough.
This is a very versatile piece of kit the fabric is a blend between a softshell jacket and a winter jersey, in a medium amount of rain it coped well and has a good level of protection against wind without meaning you over heat it comes up close to the stated size I am 6,1 and just under 17 stone with a 46 inch chest and found xl wss a good fit with some space for layering as the material has a bit of stretch, it is now my go to jacket until the temperature drops to sub zero

The jacket itself is well designed and of good quality. However there still seems to be very restrictive sizing aimed towards diminutive people. I have never managed to find sizing for any trousers (for cycling or hiking). I have a small waist and large thighs from sprinting and football. Sizing the jacket was only a little less difficult. It's on ongoing problem I am sure stops decathlon from selling more clothes.

I read lots of reviews for various winter jackets. I didn't have much money to spend so opted for the RC 500. I've been riding in mine for about 3wks in 1-5 degree temperatures along with sleet, rain and strong wind. I am thoroughly impressed. The jacket so far has been warm and completely dry inside even after a good downpour. The fit is fantastic as is the quality. I would thoroghly recomend this jacket to anybody not wanting to spend £150 + for something similar by Castelli or Rapha etc.

By wearing a suitable cycling jacket, your performance and comfort will be constant, regardless of the weather conditions. This 500 cycling jacket keeps you nice and warm thanks to its high collar and storm cuffs. Underarm zippers let air circulate freely.
Warmth
A product's ability to protect from the cold. It depends on the material's thermal resistance and how much air can pass through it. The higher its thermal resistance, the more the product retains the heat produced by the body while cycling.
Breathability
To determine whether a fabric is breathable, we measure its evaporative resistance (test based on standard ISO 11092). The lower its resistance, the more the fabric will let water vapor produced by the body escape, and therefore the more breathable it is. For example: RET <9 = extremely breathable fabric.
Care tips
Machine wash at 86°F. Synthetics cycle. Turn the article inside out. Use a minimal amount of laundry detergent. Do not use fabric softener. Line-dry in a warm, ventilated area. Do not tumble dry. Do not dry-clean. Do not bleach. Do not place on a heater to dry.
