bad quality of original tyres, they are slipery

The bike is nice, smooth and silent whitout annoying noise, but the oiginal tires of very poor quality, they are very slippery with morning dew or a light drizzle are a danger. I feel off the bicycle, I was not going fast, I don't want to imagine on a rainy day, be carefull with that. I have contacted customer service on two occasions attaching photos of my bruises. In the first complaint I asked them to change the tires for one with better grip, they just left me the link to buy other tires. In the second contact in the same way they send me another link for cheaper tires. I understand that they are not interested in the condition of the person or the quality of their product.

A commuting bike without mudguard mounts?

I was disappointed to discover there are no mounting points to fit mudguards. For a commuting bike, to be used on UK roads, this is quite rubbish really. It also means you cannot fit a pannier rack! Again, for a commuting bike, this is quite rubbish really. Yes, you could wear a rucksack, but I would be fed up cleaning off the brown stripe from the back after every ride. Besides, I would have to carry quite a large one, with very limited saddle adjustment this would be rather heavy on the contact points, if you know what I mean. Don't get me wrong, the bike is good for the price, but don't buy it if you are after a commuting bike!

An Idea for a Follow Up

I haven't actually bought one, just tried it in the store. Good value for money but it's a bit heavy for a single speed. A guy who works for Decathlon told me you read these reviews and value feedback. I'd love to see Decathlon make a more upmarket version. Would love to see one with a chromoly or similar quality steel frame and better wheels, again offering a some colour choices.

Just the job

Bought this bike for commuting to work on the daily, and for the price i paid its the best bike I've rode for my journey, added a set of tannus tyres, so no punctures EVER, perfect gear ratio low maintenance very responsive bike, well made, not to heavy, overall I'm very happy with my purchase.

How can this happen

My first time riding the bike I was so happy. The second time I rode the bike my back tire goes flat. How can a tire go flat after only a couple hours of riding the bike. The description says it’s supposed to have anti puncture protection, so where is it? Don’t get me wrong I don’t expect the bike to be invincible but I definitely do not expect the tire to go flat that easily.

Elops 500 single speed city bike

Great bike for the price, I have used it for a few months and it's been great. I did swap the seat for something with more cushion and put on an adjustable handlebar stem. Gearing is good on the slow side but great for hills.

Really good bike, even better price

Great for exercise/commuting. Really glad I bought it. Comfortable, reasonably quick, and so far it's been completely reliable. Only issue I've really had is that the frame/suspension aren't great with bumpy roads. It would also be nice if the handlebars could be raised. The delivery service was perfect too. Best purchase I've made in as long as I can remember.

Great little bike for the money

Bought to supplement other, vastly more expensive, bikes as a little town runaround - and I'm chuffed to bits with this bike! Simple assembly - less than 10 minutes after delivery it was assembled and being test-ridden. Perfect for little trips around town - my longest ride to date is about 7 miles, but perfectly comfortable, easy riding and I don't have a panic about leaving it chained to a lamp post while I do a bit of shopping... unlike my other bikes!

Great Bike for the money

Really pleased with this bike so far. I chose a single speed for the low maintance after years of contantly having to adjust gears. My daily commute is a flat 18 mile round trip and 3 weeks in I'm really enjoying the simplicity of it. My only grip is I've had two punctures in that time. As expected the tyres as on most budget bikes are not the greatest and I've now upgraded these. I'd recommend this bike to anyone wanting to try a single speed bike.
