Chipped The Blade

Love the knife. I keep it in my backpack for daily use. Only problem is I used it for opening plastic lashings used to stack boxes and the blade chipped on the curve to the point.

Knife

No carry pouch attached.

It is a very good general use knife

I picked it up from the Motera store (Ahmedabad) about 4 months ago. I use it for peeling and cutting fruit, mainly. It is also quite good for other things you'd use a folding knife for, like cutting open packets of food etc. I have used it while hiking, and it can do most tasks quite well. It can cut through climbing rope easily. The design is ergonomic, it can be opened with one hand. It cannot be closed with one hand which I think is a good safety design. It's sharp but it can be sharpened further if needed. Hasn't rusted a bit despite cutting quite acidic fruit. It's very durable and tough. Of course, I am assuming the buyer understands the pros and cons of folders vs fixed blades because using this knife, as people sometimes fantasize, to cut or carve wood? You're going to wreck it. Use it the way the helpful folks at Decathlon recommend. Keep it clean and sharpen with the sharpener from the same company. It'll last long and be a great tool.

An easy 4/5 star if not for the rust

An excellent knife for the price, I carry this on my cycle rides, useful for cutting small fruits. I would have easily given this a 4 or 5 star if not for the rust, my first knife was bought exactly two years ago and it started developing lots of rust spots(little dots) on the blade and rust patches underneath the handle, it was promptly replaced by the amazing folk at my local decathlon by the new replacement knife too is developing the same rust spots on the blade, not sure what I am doing wrong. I do realise the alloy used in the knife is not the most rust resistant but just wondering on what I might be doing wrong P.S: I do own two other fixed blades from Decathlon and I clean my knifes after every use. By the way, my axis 75 is the black handle model

Poor than a Stationary blade

I purchased this product on 19th Jan, 2019 and did the unboxing in store itself. Right after unboxing I realized the sharpness of the blade is null. The same was checked by the staff and later they marked the product defective and advised me to re-buy on 21st January 2019, since the product would be restocked on the said date. Today when I purchased ths product, I was disappointed again as the sharpness of the blade is useless. It's a disgrace to keep this product under wildlife and camping section. However the sharpness was slightly better than the previous purchase, but still I would mark the product useless. It couldn't even cut the delicate box it came in, while the usual Stationary blade was gliding compared to this. Certainly the first disappointment from Decathlon. Wasted INR 699/- right there.

Additional Product Information

Composition

Blade: 100.0% Stainless steel ; Handle: 100.0% Rubber - thermoplastic

Dimensions and weight

Total length open: 6.7” Blade length: 3”Blade thickness: 2 mmHandle length: 3.9”Handle thickness: 0.5”.Angle of blade: 20°Weight: 3.4 oz.

Sharpening

Blade angle 20°. An orange triangle on the back of the pack allows you to check the angle of the blade to a sharpening stone. All you have to do now is place the blade on the triangle, follow the slant and keep to this angle while sharpening on the stone.

5cr15 stainless steel

Our engineers selected the 5Cr15 stainless steel on this knife for 3 reasons:- the steel is sufficiently strong to hold the wire long enough, as in cutting branches or treating venison for 2 hours.- the steel is ”soft” enough to allow easy sharpening thanks to a hardness of around 56 HRC, and to recover the wire in a few passes on a sharpening base- the steel has a good resistance to corrosion due to its chemical composition.

Storage instructions

Wipe the blade after washing
