Product Customer Reviews
Tent used for 15 days in 2023, nothing special noted during this first use. Does the job. Brought out again this year, and there I observe several small holes at the level of the mosquito net (not in the tarpaulin on the ground: at the level of the veil). The rest of the equipment (used at the same time, for a longer time, stored in the same place: another tent, cotton sheets, sleeping bags) does not have this problem at all, for me it is therefore a fragility of the textile.
Great tent! Easy to set up, very light. Two adults and two children can sleep in it without any problem.
Huge disappointment! Until this purchase, we had the previous Quick Hiker product that we used happily for several years with, at the very least, more than a hundred assemblies (Motorcycle & bicycle roaming). Reached by the age limit, we replaced it this year with the Forclaz model. After 4 weeks of use, the observation is very negative: Permeable groundsheet (Rising humidity by capillarity), design problem of the opening of the double roof which overhangs the sleeping area => water running inside the tent, interest of the transverse mast not included (additional mast to transport) and it forms a sort of basin retaining rainwater, difficult to assemble/disassemble alone (the masts slide with difficulty in the textile housing), general quality of the seams, zips, poorly placed interior pockets, disappearance of the storage net under the roof replaced by a wire. In short, all the good ideas of the previous one have disappeared and the quality of its replacement is not up to par.
I'll spare you the hassle of getting a pair of shorts delivered instead of the tent and the hassle that follows. I finally managed to get my hands on the product the day before I left, only to find when I was setting it up (and checking that all the parts were there) that there were grease stains on it. Surprisingly, none of this made the store staff flinch (the logistical error, the lack of availability in store making me make a big detour and the stains) - no commercial gesture or replacement. As for the tent itself, it is not light enough to protect from the heat of the sun and the ventilation through the upper mosquito nets is insufficient; but too large in cold weather. The conditions in which it is comfortable are therefore quite limited.
After a trip I was a fan of this tent. Survived a storm of no less than wind force 12, from that moment on I knew for sure: this tent is fantastic! The tent is nicely packed. Is easy to assemble and is completely waterproof. Highly recommended!
I tried the tent, the air temperature was 30-35° during the day, we saw 17 at night, despite this I was able to sleep comfortably, I did not get cold or feel the heat too much, I did not get sunburned immediately in the morning sun, I also opened the double entrance so the inside was airy, and my morning sleep continued without any problems. I was able to sleep comfortably until 10:00 in the morning, the tree shade was partially. It was a little difficult to place the tent poles in the tent during setup, and it was a little difficult to remove the polys when packing. The fabric of the tent is of higher quality than other entry-level models, including the base, I laid a tarpaulin under the floor, the floor is one piece and the corners are heat-taped, it is quite durable, especially in rainy weather, the possibility of water ingress is very, very low.
The price/value ratio is outstanding! A tent pad is definitely recommended, because the lower part is very thin and can easily tear off!
A rather beautiful tent and very practical to set up and use. On the other hand, like many other customers, the poles gave up the ghost after the 5th dismantling, fortunately it was our last day of roaming otherwise we would have had to cut it short. From the 2nd dismantling I noticed cracks at some pole junctions so I made sure to be as gentle as possible during the following assembly/disassembly but the junctions ended up breaking. This is clearly a recurring problem on the “3 person” model. Back to my Decathlon store in Quimper with the protective groundsheet purchased in addition because the ground seemed fragile according to the comments. The whole thing was refunded to me without any problem. My experience having scalded me, I did not want an exchange. I will probably take the mt900 next year. Apart from that, it is a well-designed tent, easy to set up, relatively light and rather spacious. We held on to 1 adult and 2 children aged 7 and 10 and our bags. The side doors are great as well as the large apses, too small to cook peacefully on the other hand. No waterproofing problem despite 3 days of rain/drizzle... Too bad for these defects which will be corrected I hope.
It is easy to assemble and very practical. Too bad there are no small storage spaces inside.
Bought in 2020, used simply for bivouacs in the summer, so about 15 times set up and taken down in total. This summer we went with it and it was used for 20 nights. Only one of the pole rods cracked and when we took the tent down, it tore the part of the tent where we insert the pole. Another one also cracked afterwards. Too bad, I don't think we used the tent very much...
Used for a week, assembly, disassembly every day without problem. Perfect for motorcycle trips. 😉😊
Many positive points but one huge negative point: the tent poles break one after the other. Last year, we had to replace 2 poles. We had not used the tent since last year and, surprise when we woke up, after a first quiet night, 3 new split poles including one of the poles connecting the 2 apses. Fortunately the weather was mild because one of the split poles caused a small tear in the outer canvas. There is clearly a defect on these poles. I know that the warranty period has passed but the defect in these poles is clearly an original defect. Is it possible to replace this tent with an equivalent or superior model (I am obviously ready to pay the price difference between the 2 models)? The photos are of the defective poles are explicit and available. Thank you for your follow-up.
Owner of 2 MT500 tents, 3 and 4 years old respectively, I was relatively happy with these tents during the first few years, apart from the broken pole that I had to suffer on each of the tents after about a year. This year, it happened again, I noticed the beginning of a breakage on a pole during my vacation. I decided to inspect all the poles of the 2 tents, and discovered that they were almost good for the trash. After counting, on all 2 tents, the poles present 36 breakages or cracks (after about fifty assembly/disassembly). I will also note a fragility of the waterproofing of the bottom of these tents, which already needs to be redone.
We bought this tent in June 2024. First use in July and already 2 broken poles at the top. I have always used Decathlon brand tents and this is the first time this has happened to me. In addition to the poles, we had sealing problems at the seams of the small pole attachments. Finally, the ground sheet is so thin that I recommend putting another tarp underneath.
The poles destroy themselves through the press point. Cracks form at the press points of the connecting sleeves, which then cause the pole to break. And this happens in every single segment. Additionally, water drips through the zip cover above the entrances when it rains a little harder. This is because the seams are not taped. Unfortunately, there are only replacement poles for the tent, which first have to be sawn to size. But these then break again in the usual places. Unfortunately, Decathlon has gone downhill a lot. The previous tent (Quickhiker 3) lasted me four years without any problems. I am a total Decathlon fan, but I wouldn't buy a tent from them again as long as the quality doesn't change.

It is also quick to strike. To store the tent in its bag, just fold up the tent until it is as wide as the bag, fold up the tent poles into a bundle and place them on the bedroom or the flysheet, and roll everything up into a small bundle to fit it all in the bag.

Forclaz tents are laboratory-tested: pitched tent, 200 litres/m²/hour (4 hours, equivalent to a tropical storm). They are also tested in the field by a sample user group. 75 denier polyester flysheet, polyurethane-coated (interior) water-repellent treatment (exterior), P75D groundsheet in the bedroom.Seams taped with heat-sealed strips.Multi-component bedroom (P66D) that is breathable, provides protection from the wind and reduces condensation.
Wind resistance
We test all our tents in a wind tunnel on a turntable where we can expose each side of the tent to the wind.To test its wind resistance, the tent must be properly pitched, taut but not stretched, with all the guy ropes in position around the tent. It should remain habitable at wind speeds of 70km/h, measured near ground level. Our tents are certified by the CSTB independent laboratory in Nantes.
Ventilation and condensation prevention
Bedroom with mosquito screen for ventilation and water-repellent fabric to protect from condensation and draughts. Large vent at front of tent and additional vent at feet end.To reduce condensation inside your tent, it must be properly pitched, with the fabric kept taut without being over-stretched. Vents and good air flow will help reduce humidity inside your tent.
Seasons
3-season tent: your tent will protect you from the harsh weather conditions you can encounter in the spring, summer or autumn. It will withstand light snowfall but is not designed to withstand heavy loads that would weigh on the structure. In case of snow, remember to shake your tent regularly in order to bring down any snow that has accumulated to avoid putting too much weight on the structure of your tent.
