It's worth buying during the promotion.

Generally, the product has some advantages and some disadvantages, but it is worth buying during the promotion.

Good midlayer

Good fit, can also be worn as a single jacket up to 10 °C, or used as a midlayer in cooler weather. Only the sleeves could have used slightly better cuffs (possibly with elastic), as the wide sleeve ends create a fairly thick fold when you velcro them closed to make them windproof. Otherwise it's a good jacket, but the price is a bit too high as the merino content is probably limited to the armpits

Great product

Warm, holds mist and water spray fairly well. Doesn't hold rain at all. Great during active snowshoe walks and uphill skiing. Main benefit of the product is that you change both layers at once, so you dont have to fumble with fleece and winshirt one after another when it's cold and warmth is leaking out. Overall it could be 50-100g lighter and a bit more packabale, but it's fine for a price and expected from a decathlon product. Quality is excellent.

Very good softshell. Not…

Very good softshell. Not yet tried in very cold weather. I recommend always having it in the bag as soon as the altitude rises.

water repellent and windproof

it shouldn't be hot because it's a third layer you put on and take off to protect from rain and wind.

Sizing information

quite a close-fitting cut. The jacket's inner volume allows you to wear it over a warm second layer such as a micro-fleece.

Thermal comfort and windproof

The wind makes you feel considerably colder. With an outside temperature of 0°C and 20 km/h winds, it will feel like the temperature is -10°C. ”Windproof” components fight the uncomfortable effects associated with this ”freezing effect. They are very effective at reducing heat loss by creating a barrier against the wind.

Protective details

- Drawstring tightening with toggles at the bottom of the jacket- Tightening at the cuffs with Velcro tabs- Adjustable hood

Water-repellent property of component (not to be confused with waterproofing)

The water-repellent property of a fabric is its capacity to make water run off its surface without absorbing it. This prevents the fabric from soaking up water and keeps it lightweight and breathable. The fabric is made water-repellent by treating its outer surface, however this property may deteriorate with use. You will find out how to reactivate the water repellency of your softshell in our article ”Maintaining, washing and repairing waterproof or water-repellent clothing” available on the Forclaz website.

Recommended additional product

To reactivate the water repellency, you can use the textile waterproofing liquid available in stores or on the website under reference 8554908,It regenerates the water repellency of the fabric and optimises the performance of your garment throughout its life.

Product testing

In November 2018, 8 trekkers (4 men and 4 women) and part of the Forclaz design team tested this jacket for 4 days in the southern French Alps (Lus La Croix Haute). You can expect wind, rain, a bit of snow, a bivouac... and a lot of fun! We were then able to make the final modifications and validate it for use for mountain trekking.
