Product Customer Reviews

After a 40+ year hiatus, I started riding a bike again about 5 years ago. I purchased a used road bike and found a lot of joy. Along the way, I've become interested in expanding into other surfaces, hence the purchase of my first new bicycle since I was 11. The bike arrived in good condition, albeit with a very minor scratch that obviously occurred during shipping. Assembly was quick , and very straightforward, in large part due to the set of videos that had been previously emailed. I'm still in the process of adjusting to the bike. It's a good ride, though different than a road bike. I like it and am looking forward to getting to use it on trails. I appreciated the included bell, reflectors, and lights! However, for the life of me, I can't figure how to attach the headlight. the taillight was pretty straightforward, but the headlight... (help?)
Overall, the bike is absolutely fantastic for the price. I don’t think it can be beaten for that money. I have loved riding it for months, but I had to change the tyres. I had 4 punctures across 3 rides. They are supposed to be new & improved tyres, but not only is the grip not that great for gravel riding, they are just not up to scratch. I spent £35 on some Specialized tyres and haven’t had a puncture since. This bike would easily get 5 stars, but it is let down by this one issue. Factor into the cost that you might want to buy different tyres, and this is the bike to get you into gravel riding without breaking the bank.
Decent bike , but in a few weeks just I’ve had more punctures than I’ve had in 5 years cycling the same route , tyres are terrible
love it. just have a toe overlapping issue. Its an awesome bike to ride.
I normally ride expensive road bikes... Decided i wanted a gravel bike read reviews on this ..yes it wasn't top of the range components but hey I decided to give it a try ...Well I was impressed ... after the first 15 miles it was infact a great fun bike ..I was soon hitting 20mph on the gravel flats ...Wasn't expecting a lot from a bike that cost ÂŁ600.. Honestly I was impressed considering I pay 10 times that amount on my bikes ... I am not saying it will out perform any of my road bikes ...but in my honest opinion this is great for the money
So first off lets get the negatives out the way as there isn't many. The tyres that come with it are awful, even after they switched them to new ones when people complained. The positioning of the brake lever cable on the right hand side gets in the way when mounting things on the handle bars. Though I have managed around this by mounting things that are shorter. Now for the positives, first time having flared handle bars and a one-by system and I absolutely love using them. There is minimal maintenance with the drive train and cleaning it is much easier. The gear ratios are perfect for what I need, You do however notice the biking topping out in speed when going down steep descent, where usually I could push a few more MPH out on my road bike. But the trade off for max speed is definitely hassle free maintenance and comfortable ride. I have put in a over 1000 miles on this done 3 Bike packing trips and did my fastest time on the C2C (raining ALL day). The bike hardly has scratch on it and has so far only needed the occasional clean and lubing of the chain Would Thoroughly recommend this product!
I reviewed this bike in detail a few weeks after purchase, gave it 5 stars. Now, after riding weekly on country lanes for 12 months, I am just as pleased with it. The improved Overide Hardskin tyres are still a little fragile, had to fit nylon liners to stop punctures, but are much better than the original soft ones. The rear derailleur is not tolerant of knocks, so do not allow the bike to fall as it will need adjustment. Everything have been working well, the brakes have run-in so offer much stronger stopping power. Comfortable, good looking and good value gravel bike - what not to like?
I was lucky enough to find one of these bikes in stock in my size recently. The green coloured frame and gum wall tyres have really grown on me since collecting it, shifting as with other decathlon bikes I have tried, is impressively smooth and responsive. Having been out on it only a handful of times, I am enjoying the comfortable riding position along with the quiet hum of the tyres on the tarmac. Although the weight of the bike won't win any competitions and brakes need adjusting early on to get them functioning well, the solid well built frame, flared dropped bars and tyre sizing have all contributed to this 50 year old cyclist having a new found confidence on uneven tarmac, grass and gravel. Grab one of these excellent value Gravel/Go anywhere/adventure Bike. Highly recommended.
If you're looking at expensive alternatives you need to go and try this bike. It's great value, comfortable, shifts nicely, and does everything most people need from a gravel bike.
a removable derailleur hanger (not fixed to frame) much more appreciated than a carbon fork
Had this bike for a month now and I have to say, for the money I am really pleased. The colour is great and looks better in person than online. No issues with the tyres yet (Hutchinson Override Tubeless tyres) despite travelling across numerous different surfaces and mainly off road. I elected to change the original tubes and replaced with some cheap ones that have a removable core and put some sealant in the tube itself. The store itself didn't sell the tubeless valves in order to convert to purely tubeless but this has worked ok for me so far! If the cheap tubes fail I will consider going full tubeless then. The gearing as some have already mentioned is a good range for everything I would need but if you want to go much much faster downhill then I would suggest that you look elsewhere or look to spend on some upgrades. The brakes are soft but do work. I think they are still bedding in so the jury is out at the moment. I'm 180cm and average build so it was L size for me. I have to admit I found the 100mm stem was a bit too long in the reach for me personally so swapped for a shortened stem (60mm) for some more comfort but no problems with mechanics to date. Also swapped out the plastic pedals to my clipless brand and I will say that my biggest concern at the moment is the clearance between my shoes and the front tyre. I have noticed that even with the shoes adjusted to the furthest rear position the tyre rubs the tip of the shoes sometimes when steering more often offroad!! In the bikes defence I do have EU 47 sized feet but can't remember having the same problem on other similar bikes? Also, I have never used Microshift components before but I have to say I'm really impressed how well the system works with the clutch mechanism and single front chainring. You get what you pay for and overall this is a good bike for it's price. Finding one in stock in the UK is a bit like finding a large of Unicorn excrement... But if like me you do find one, I did feel the need to remove the chain guard attached to the front chainring as it looked ridiculous, was a cheap plastic and more suitable for a kids bike!!!
I have road version of this bike. Ok, for asphalt only using build-in rear derailleur hanger on aluminium frame is.... well it is +/- appropriate. But on a all-road bike for ÂŁ599? Geez, it is a mess up guys
I'll start off by saying that I got my Triban GRVL 120 for ÂŁ499 in October last year when it came with regular Hutchinson Override 38c tyres not the tubeless-ready version currently advertised. Overall I have been very impressed with the bike. At 175cm tall the medium frame is perfect for me and the riding position is very comfortable. The groupset is fine for the type of riding that I do which is mostly recreational, on roads and cyclepaths with the occasional bit of light offroad on hardpack trails. At first, I really liked how fast-rolling the tyres were and they make for a comfortable ride. But they offer no puncture protection at all - I had 4 punctures after 6 rides. A miniscule sliver of glass when cycling on tarmac, or a small thorn from cycling over a twig. This makes the bike completely unreliable for commuting, and I was reluctant to go out at all knowing that at some point on the ride I would almost certainly get a puncture. I can't go tubeless with the stock tyres so I'm now looking for new tyres with a thicker centre tread for puncture resistance. If you ride only offroad you might get better reliabilty - I can't say. Also, it can be hard to get mudguards that fit due to lack of clearance between the tyres and the frame/fork. I went with SKS Speedrockers but even then you need to modify the routing of the disc brake cables to make them fit.
this is a good beginners gravel bike, but not without flaws. rear disk brake is terrible, not worth using. gearing is good, Microshift is fine. tyres on this are terrible. second puncture in as many days of taking the bike out. get something more puncture-proof
Bought this bike to upgrade from my previous bike as I was looking for a more versatile bike to be able to go off-road. Overall, this is a very good bike, it rides very well (you won't go racing on the road but it still is quite fast), handle is great, it is comfortable and icing on the cake, it looks even better in real life than on the pictures. Great bike for gravel beginners. However, one big flaw is the tyres (the tyres on my bike are the Hutchinson Overide). As pointed out by a lot of the reviews (which have been removed since), the tyres are very fragile. After just one month, I already had two flat tyres (anything on the road seems to cut through the tyres quite easily). On top of that, the rear tyre seems to be losing pressure without any puncture on the tyre and the tube. I bought it in November when it was still £499 so not sure if I have the old tyres or the new ones but still, this is a bit disappointing as it is making me quite wary while riding the bike now. All in all, this bike remains a good bike but the tyres are a huge miss.

Why choose a gravel bike rather than a road bike with fat tires?
A gravel bike is not just a road bike with fat tires. Even if it shares DNA with a road bike, gravel bikes have their own unique characteristics. On our GRVL v2lo 120 gravel bike, we have changed the frame of our RC120 disc by adjusting clearance (tire space) for riding with a 700x38 tire. It also has mechanical disc brakes. On this gravel bike, we also used our tubeless gravel wheels in 23c, and a single chainring drive train.
