A fantastic firesteel

I use these fire steels for both my Scout Group and also on my Bushcraft courses. They are dependable and easy to use with minimal help. I tend to show people to use the straight edge burr for striking and use the jagged end for rubbing wood / branches for tinder. I make my own steels for personal use but I always have one of these on my person for a back up.

Moderately good

I expected the product to be way better as it's from Decathlon. The rod needs to be scraped repeatedly to produce a moderate amount of spark. The one from Wildcraft produced quite a bigger spark with the same amount of scraping. The spark is not hot enough to catch fire at one go. I had to strike four/five times to ignite the gas oven. Also, the edge of the metal blade could've been made more user friendly by positioning it on the horizontal side instead of on the tip. The user could strike the fire far easier in that way.

Not the easiest flint and steel I've ever used!

Bought for scouting. My cub found it difficult to use, although we have another set from somewhere else he can use

Ignite the fire

Very useful if you like bon fires or like to cook food in the jungles. Just get some dry glass, take some cotton with you and use this spark to instantly ignite the fire!

Great for the price

Once I did the initial strike to clear of the covering it sparked perfectly. My tinder of choice is cotton wool which caught first time. It also lit my gas stove on first strike. Perhaps I have a newer refined version than the previous reviews

Durable fire steel with not too hot sparks

This is a good firesteel. The lanyard provided is long enough that it allows the striker to be used comfortably while striking the firesteel. works wet and dry as advertised. The problem is with the composition of the fire steel. Although it produces a good shower of sparks, the sparks are NOT hot enough to make the tinder catch fire. I have tried firesteels of different brands and they set the tinder on fire at the first strike. I have already left a feedback about this product at the store. I hope they improve the quality

Quechua flint

It projects sparks very well and they've helpfully embossed only one side of the strike plate so you know which side should be facing up when you use it. accessible and easy to use even when it's wet or dark I even use it at home sometimes to light the stove when the electric lighters have let me down. Great product :)

Pedernal FORCLAZ
