Between a mat and a standard inflatable matress

I used this product while doing camping and wild camping in the UK. It is basically an inflatable mattress that does not need a pump to be inflated and is designed for a single person. In camping the are 3 different possibilities when in comes to mattresses: -scout like mat: best volume weight. Worse comfort. -self inflating mattress such as the one used for this review. Middle volume/weight. Middle comfort. -standard inflatable mattress which needs a pump to be inflated. Worse volume/weight. Maximum comfort. I would recommend this product if weight and volume to carry, is a concern for you and you still want something more comfy than a mat.

Okay for 1 or 2 nights and back sleepers

Context: This was the first sleeping mat I used whilst hiking, and after using it a few times I got a thicker inflatable mat. Pros: It's relativelylight considering the price and that its a self inflating mat. It's thick enough the keep you off the ground if you're a back sleeper, and packs down smaller if you ditch the bag it comes with and use something to tie it instead. It is on the large side so you have room to roll around without falling off in the night, and it gives you the ability to sprall about abit. Cons: If you lie on your side you're not going to have a comfy nights sleep. It isn't thick enough to keep you off the ground so you end up with sore hips and shoulders. The mat is made of quite a slippery material, which isn't ideal if you're camping on a hill as you can wake up at the bottom of the tent. All though the mat does retain most of the air inside of it, it does deflate slightly over time. I don't think that mat offers enough support for more that 2 nights, and can leave you with all your previous aches and pains. Overall: I would recommend this mat for 1/2 night sleeps and for back sleepers. It's good for the price and is reasonably portable.

Amazing price

Seof inflating Air bed

Easy to inflate- not so sure about deflating it! Useful for back packing.

2 out of 3 still going strong.

We bought 3 mats for family campings. On 4th camping one of mats started leaking air. Short inspection revealed leaking valve. So Decathlon is it possible to replace the valve or how does two years warranty works? Unfortunately I don't have a receipt.

The air keeps escaping during the night.

I had this matt for 1 year. When lighter (20kg-50kg)persons sleep on it it seems to cope with the pressure. When I sleep on it (89kg) I wake up after a few hours and have to inflate it again. Quite poor really... Will go to the shop and try upgrading for a better one.

Really thin

I bought this to go with the Quechua inflatable camp bed. I spent the whole night with the slats sticking in me as this mattress is just too thin to lay on it. I had to purchase a thicker one to get a decent night's sleep. It's probably ok to use of packing light and just need something basic .

Great bed, works well with the low camp bed frame. Maybe a tad bulky when packed up but that’s a minor moan.

Cheap mat for warmer months

This was my first sleeping mat i bought when i started wild camping again after a 30 year break. Not a bad mat as long as its used in warmer weather and you sleep on your back. Unfortunately i am a side sleeper and my shoulders where digging into the ground. Used it in October on Dartmoor and it felt like i was going to freeze to death even with a foam pad underneath it. and it only got to as low as 5c . So if you want cheap and decent summer +10c pad then this is it. Have since bought a Exped Synmat 9 , this is 9cm thick so side sleeping is no problem and toasty warm when i did the West Highland Way in November with temps of -5.

Good-very good

Still enjoying it the way I wished

Additional Product Information

Composition

Main fabric: 75.0% Polyvinyl chloride, 25.0% Polyethylene Terephtalate ; Foam: 100.0% Polyurethane ; Carry bag: 100.0% Polyethylene Terephtalate

Directions for use

We advise you to roll out your mattress as soon as you set up camp. Open the valve to let it self-inflate. A self-inflating mattress inflates by itself up to about 80%. You will need to blow up the rest yourself by mouth, so you can adjust the pressure to your desired comfort level.

Product testing

The sleeping comfort of the mattresses is measured by our research and development center. All our mattresses are subjected to mechanical tests that test their performance and their resistance to guarantee you good sleep and rest when camping. Warning: choose your mattress width according to the inside measurements of your tent.

Storage instructions

We advise you to store your mattress away from moisture and extreme temperatures.
