Product Customer Reviews

Let me start by the positive: This kayak is awesome and sets up in a few minutes. It is surprisingly stable and hold 2 adults without problems. It is easy to maneuver and overall is a lot of fun. Now, the bad part: I bought it in June 2021 and used it 4 times only before one of the tube started to leak. It is a very slow/small leak that I have not been able to find. I have been really careful with it, rinsing it with clear water after every use and letting it dry before re-packing. With all inflatable products, you are bound to have a leak someday and should expect having to patch it but not after only 4 times using it.
I purchased this kayak in March. The second time I used it I realized it had a leak. I figured ou the probleam was on the seam. It wasn't sealed all the way. I was able to patch because I needed it for upcoming trips. It was fine for 2 more trips. And has started to leak again. Just reached out to Decathlon so hopefully this is resolved. When working love this kayak.
Dear Julia,
We really apologize for the issue you faced with your product.
We do have spare parts available to fix our kayaks. If you already had contacted our customer service, we will send you a replacement bladder as soon as possible.
We gonna put you back on the water soon with your lovely kayak.
Best regards

After much deliberation, I decided to purchase Decathlon's Itiwit inflatable Kayak, a brand I had not heard of until recently. Pros: The kayak is sturdy, easy to set up and break down, transport and dismantle for drying. It is well designed with strong materials and intuitive features. The boat is easy to maneuver in the water and comfortable to paddle in for long distances. Cons: Some issue with interior inflatable pontoons twisting. Issue was amended by unzipping sides and straightening out twisted areas. The three removable fins are very hard to insert and remove once the boat has been used a few times. Even one grain of sand will make insertion impossible without the help of a soft mallet (we used the shaft of a paddle to assist). It was not clear from the start that the pump and paddles were sold separately and created an unnecessarily prolonged shopping experience. Overall: Nice, easy to use product with a few design feature issues. Wish the price included all items necessary to get out on the water.
I’ve only had the kayak for a couple months and already the bag is falling apart. All the straps have popped off so now I have no practical way of carrying it to the beach. I now have to buy a new duffle bag which will be $75 -$100 or more so consider that cost if you’re thinking about buying this kayak. I’m concerned that this is a sign of poor quality overall.
So far so good with this kayak, except the plastic ring securing the base bladder to the skin broke on the first use. Non-critical but needs replacing for long-term use. Replacement requires a return to store which is a pain for such a small piece.
This kayak is really easy to set up and use just as advertised.
We’ve used the kayak twice since purchase. Looks fantastic and inflates and deflates easily. Seems really sturdy in the water and has been lots of fun. My only gripe is something I saw in another review and has now happened to us. The black fins that slot on the bottom have jammed on and now can’t be removed which makes it really difficult to pack the kayak away in the bag after use. There is no clear instruction on how to install or remove the fins and this is a frustrating design flaw. That aside, would highly recommend!!!
Have used the kayak and found it easy to inflate, it worked well on the water and once dried, easy to deflate and pack up
Better than i was expecting, very good quality
I needed a kayak to get into Sydney Harbour for the NYE 2017 fireworks. A friend mentioned Decathlon in Tempe had only just opened the day before, went there straight after work and took the last available kayak to test out for 7 days for free. The staff at Tempe were amazing and extremely helpful. The team manager, being a kayaker himself, knew the product really well. I took the kayak out to Blackwattle Bay in Sydney, paddled around on flat waters and pretty much purchased it within the 7 day trial. It was so easy to inflate and put together in less than 10 minutes! Not only that, it was quick and easy to deflate and pack away back into the carry bag. The carry bag has straps that I can strap the pump and detachable oars to. To do this on my own (164cm female) was easy and manageable , including carrying the backpack from my car to the shore (thank goodness for heavy weight training!) *Note, if you struggle to lift or carry 20kg you will struggle to get this back to your car if going solo...of course it's way easier with a friend* It can take a bit more weight (for safety 140kg max) however, my cousin and I being roughly a combined 145kg did pretty well! My friend and I took it out twice and experienced some choppy waters on the harbour but the kayak seemed to handle it well. Great product for leisure! I've had it for about 3 weeks and have gone out 4 times already. I'll be taking my nephews out on scenic rivers/lakes around Sydney during these school holidays! Best Christmas present to myself ever. Easy to store (I live in an apartment, no garage), don't need to worry about buying roof racks (for some, it's the same value as this kayak - or more!) AND the detachable oars are great to team up with this piece. Happy kayaking!
I find it a bit awkward to paddle, because it's higher and wider than a regular kayak. I'm also just a bit worried it'll pop and I'll go down like the Titanic.
We are very happy with this product. Very fast to inflate and even faster to deflate. Just need to plan for dry time when we get home which means taking the floor out to dry which is also very simple. I say this and it comes with the floor in of course and it didn't occur to us that it comes out and splash water hides under it Takes about 1 minute though. Easy to paddle and I don't think we could tip it less we sat on the side A great activity for us with so many lakes near us! If you are new to kayaking it is best to watch video lessons first
Have used this Kayak over the last month or so. PROS 1. Easy to set up and pump up 2. Very stable in the water 3. Very enjoyable all round 4. Relatively inexpensive 5. Compact for Storage CONS: 1. Not a "real" Kayak experience - it is more like a boat or canoe - fun for getting out on the water 2. The seats are not particularly comfortable. I actually now do not use them 3. The only paddles available at the store were the shorter ones, the clerk indicated they would be fine because we were shorter. We should have waited for the long ones to come in. The paddles are too short for the width of the boat. All in all we are having a fun time on the water which we would not otherwise be able to do with traditional Kayaks due to space, and ability to transport.
I love my kayak. Inflates fairly quickly (all ready in under 10 minutes moving fairly leisurely). Sturdy and steady in the water. The rudders keep you from being blown about too much, but I’ve only used it on a smaller river. Can take a bit of time to dry it completely before packing it up, but you get a system after using it a few times and that speeds it up. Very comfortable. Does not have the grips to brace your legs for leverage while paddling, but I used the added seat for this adjusted to my own leg length which works well. All round great kayak. Their paddle is excellent as well and extends to the necessary length as this kayak is a bit wider due to the inflatable nature of it. Very happy with my purchase!
Hello Jessica,
It's been a pleasure to receive you in our store. Thank you for your rating.
We wish you a good kayak ride,
Coralie
Saluti sportivi,
Team Decathlon

Inflation recommendations and precautions
Inflate the floor first, then one of the side tubes, then the second one to 50%. Check the overall chamber positioning. Then inflate to 100% without exceeding 0.1 bar (1.5 psi).DO NOT OVERINFLATE!Fully close all of the valves.Install the 3 keels unless using on a river containing little water. In the event of EXTREME HEAT, slightly deflate the kayak out of the water to avoid overinflation, which could damage the kayak.Do not leave inflated in direct sunlight: risk of overinflation.
Maintenance advice
In the event of damage to one of the side chambers, open the side tube lengthwise using the zipper and remove the chamber. The floor can be uncovered by opening the velcro fastenings.Example 1: the hole is in the side tube; you can use the repair kit to stick on a patch.Example 2: the hole is located along a seam; visit the workshop of a DECATHLON store to repair the bladder.
Easy to disassemble and fold
New carry bag, backpack style for short distances.Easy clip fins.Deflate the kayak by opening the 3 ”Boston” valves.Fold the lateral tubes down onto the floor.Roll starting from the opposite side to the valves to remove the air.Place the rolled-up kayak into the main compartment of the bag.Close the zipper and tighten using the compression strap.
Seat comfort
The seats are high, providing increased comfort for adults in the paddling position. The seats are to be placed according to the number of persons on board, just behind the markings printed on the floor. On the ”2” markings (which therefore remain visible) when there are 2 persons on board. On the ”1” marking when there is only 1 person on board.Ensure that you balance your load to optimize kayak performance.
Glide performance
Patented bow shape: the front and back ends provide good glide. The V-shaped front of the kayak enables smooth entry into the water.
