Used twice. Third occasion, floor split and two of the three inflatable sections lost pressure. Read the other reviews, obviously a very flawed product.

Better than a hard kayak

Very happy with this kayak. It's well build and the drop stich floor makes it rigid and won't bed at all. It's actually more stable than most double hard shell kayaks I've been on. I've used in the ocean with some swell and it held up very well. It works well with 1 person, or 3. It won't go as fast as a single person kayak, but this is great for an all rounder - this fins keep it straight and it sits high to glides well. Less than 10 mins to fully inflate with the hand pump (the electric wasn't much quicker!). It's easy to wash and drys fast as there is no fabric covering.

Great product

I love this kayak, it is so convenient to transport, and it takes quite a lots of weight too. Love it.

3 years in...

OK. Live in Inverness. New to Kayaking. Experience has been positive. This is my 3rd year with my Kayak and - on balance- I love it and was money well spent. After 2+ years the pump is getting a bit tired so we got a replacement from argos for £20... and now we both can inflate in half the time (cos the knackers one is still good to 2+ psi) We have had 4 punctures in 3 years. BUT they were easily enough repaired. The downside is that it takes about 24 hours to properly fix the puncture so we missed a couple of trips due to punctures. BUT we have also had a couple of slow punctures and the stability and buoyancy with punctures is good. This beast is hard to sink and hard to get into trouble with. We have taken our 'ducky' out in the following loacations: South Loch Ness Lochs. Loch Ness (Dores) and Loch Dochfour. Caledonian Canal. Loch Achilty. Rosemarkie/ fortrose to Chanonry point (choppy!). Findorn Bay (amazing... around high Tide) Descent of the Spey from Loch Insch to Aviemore (fun,. but hairy due to low water and inexperience) Loch Duntelchaig. Caledonian Canal. Loch Oich. And Beauly Firth (Redcastle) And Loch Linhe.. around Shuna Island. River Don. Been fun. One issue was that the puncture repair kits could not be sent through the post (and we were 100 miles away from our nearest decathlons store) but Customer services recommended a 3rd party glue that worked brilliantly and sent us a £10 voucher in compensation fro teh fact that we couldn't get a repair kit from them. I have really love my Kayak. It is stable is pretty choppy water. I have left the drain hole open and not sunk. I have left the scuppers open and got a wet bum but not sunk. I have had fun and am really glad I bought this. Skegs make it very well controlled. Construction is good. But 2 paddles. You need them, There are better Kayaks out there... but they cost more. There are alot of worse ones... and they aren't much cheaper. You will get a leak. But it is easy to fix. It comes with a repair kit. (You will need more than one!) But don't be put off. It will form leaks when you pack it away not when you are using it. And even with a hole it won't drown you, it will just slow you down and give you a wet bum! Oh.. and its damn heavy! You don't want to carry it too far. But its small enough to fit in any car. We have done 1 ways with a car at either end and had it in the boot of our picanto with the paddles on the back seat. Maybe not one for the hardcore kayaker but perfect for the enthusiastic amateur/ beginner. I am really impressed with mine.

X100 3 person kayak

Brilliant kayak. Very stable and easy to assembly and dismantle. When used for two or one person there is lots of room for extra goods.

Drop stitch kayak

Bought for my husband who is a large lad. He wanted greater stability getting in and out and this does that. He loves it. No issues when porting and design is very manoeverable. Sturdy in wind. Only issue is with seat position, which takes a while to get right. Otherwise his favourite thing!

Great kayak

We really tested the kayak out this summer. Taken it to the beach and to the river several times. Really sturdy dropstitch floor. Fast to pump up with our 2-way ITIWIT pump. We lost a seat valve on the beach and we were able to buy a replacement fairly inexpensively. Have used as a 3-man with our 8 year old in the middle seat and as a 2 man (with loads of room for stowing bags). I'd recommend putting all of the fins on as it makes a huge difference to going in a straight line! So far, really impressed.

SO FAR, SO GOOD.....

As an experienced paddler of hard shell sit in & sit on top kayaks I was looking for something more portable that I could take out, mainly on sections of the upper Thames & some esturies here in the UK. More often alone but sometimes with another adult or Grand kid... this seems to fit the bill. It won't set the world on fire in terms of speed but this kayak is not about that.. for comfy, roomy leisurely paddling then this hits the nail on the head. My only previous experience of an inflatable kayak was with a very cheap & nasty boat that shall remain nameless to protect the guilty vendors of it.. suffice to say it really was a "challenge" in terms of.. well everything really. The X100 however is NOTHING like that.. it paddles & tracks nicely & is so easy to set up. I think it may be a squeeze 3 up but as a single or two seater with gear, is spot on! It also fits in the boot of my Honda S2000, with room for the rest of the day's gear too, so as for portability it's also well on the money! Easy to pack away (especially if using the deflate function of the pump..), and dries out easily too. Time will tell as to how tough & durable this is but for the money (less than half the cost of a Sea Eagle Explorer!!) as I said at the top.. "SO FAR, SO GOOD..!" Just a shame about the colour though :-)

Accessible and easy

We bought this recently after trying a 100 borrowed from a friend. This one had many advantages and so we would recommend if trying to decide between the two: 1. Floor being dropstitch is higher pressure and feels more rigid and stable (better for children climbing in and out) 2. Different materials mean drying is much quicker (no cover over floor or seat cushions) and can just be wiped with a towel before storing rather than being left out for some time 3. Better rucksack straps 4. Easier valve connections for pump

I had high hopes for this kayak. However, having returned 3 in a row with the same defect led me to give up and get a full refund: 1. Inflate the drop stitch base and inspect the underside. All 3 I bought had failures in the drop stitching towards the nose. 2: On one of the Kayaks the left baffle wouldn’t inflate over 1psi before the pressure release vale kicked in. The right baffle inflated correctly to 3 psi. This highlights serious issues within Decathlon quality control and makes for a very unsafe kayak. 3: All three Kayaks suffered from seam over glueing and glue smears on body of vessel. For £100 more (£600) I bought a Gumotex Twist 2. They only make inflatable Kayaks and the quality is absolutely amazing - worth the extra spend.

Hello Chris,

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback with us based on your experience with the kayak, it is extremely useful for us! I can only apologise for the poor experience you had with this particular model, it certainly isn't the level of quality we normally expect and deliver with our products so I'm sorry for that.

All of our products are quality controlled at production before being delivered to stores and customers, but on this occasion it appears a couple might have slipped through at a slightly lower standard than we aim for.

I'm am glad however that you have managed to find a kayak suited to your needs, and hopefully you're enjoying your time on the water!

Most used toy in years….apart from my banjo!

Really good canoe. I wanted something stable as the wife isn’t a great swimmer. We had tried another brand(not high pressure) and it was really hard work with poor tracking. The X100 is far better. It’s not like a rigid…but not far off. The drop stitch floor works really well. We’ve used if a dozen or so times now and have had no issues at all. Recommended.

Great Kayak

Great Kayak although can be difficult to inflate when out with my 8 year old. A few trips on a calm river for 2 hours or so...easy paddling and decent support in seats. Easy to clean down and pack away.

Hello Mark,

Thanks for sharing your feedback with us! I'm really happy to hear you're enjoying your new kayak!

Have fun this summer and stay safe,

Poor quality control

Bought kayak a day ago and upon unboxing found it had a patch on the side. Wasn't happy but decided to go with it. Aftet a short time in the water the edges of the patch are coming away. No air is escaping but very disconcerting to see. Hopefully I will have time to exchange it today. Kayak is fantastic though. It is a shame they are coming from the factory like this. Staff were fantastic when purchasing. Hoping the return goes well.

Hello Michael,

I'm so sorry to hear about the problem you've faced with your new kayak! I can assure you this isn't the high standard we strive for in our products, and for that I can only apologise! I am however glad to hear the customer service from the staff upon initial purchase was amazing, as this is also something we pride ourselves on as a company!

Did you manage to return or find a resolution in the end? If not please feel free to reach out and I'll try my best to assist!

Thanks

Sam

Excellent quality

Highly recommended, solid and firm. Good on the water easily holds recommended weight, however I would not go over the weight restrictions for your own safety.

x100+3

Brought in around May 2021. Have used it about 40 times over the summer on the River Thames and on and around The Solent (UK). Have been very happy with it. It is big and stable and so great for taking the kids out. It feels solid and robust. It's easy to set up. My concern is jut how long it will last. There is lots of glue holding things together. But at 40 trips out that's £12.50 a trip and even if I get another 40 trips out of it next summer (which seems very likely) that's £6.25 per use, which I would be more than happy with.

Additional Product Information

Composition

Bladder: 60.0% Polyvinyl Chloride, 40.0% Polyester

Technical data and weight.

INFLATED SIZE Length: 13'4' Width: 36”FOLDED and BAGGED SIZE Height: 28.3” Width: 17.7” Thickness: 14.6”Weight: 39 lbsMaximum floor pressure: 0.34 bar (5 psi) Side tube and seat pressure: 0.2 bar (3 psi) Number of seats: 1 or 2 seats Contents: kayak, bag, repair kit, 3 fins, user guide, inflation connector, strap. PUMP NOT INCLUDED For use with an Itiwit double-action hand pump with adapters

Inflation tips and floor positioning

Connect the ITIWIT pump (sold separately) by twisting the pump adapter 1/4 turn and inflate the floor to 5 psi. Finish by screwing the cap back on.Put the floor inside the kayak and strap it at the ends. The floor valve must be aligned with the side tube valves located at the back of the kayak. The floor's position must allow free access to the drain plugs located in the middle of the kayak.

Side tube and seat inflation tips

Connect the ITIWIT pump (sold separately) by twisting the pump adapter 1/4 turn and inflate the side tubes to 3 psi. Finish by screwing the cap back on. Each side tube has a pressure relief valve. Its purpose is to evacuate excess air resulting from overinflation. When this happens, you may notice a hissing sound. This hissing is normal; it can happen during inflation or after prolonged exposure to sun. It will stop once the kayak reachesthe correct internal pressure

Seat comfort and positioning.

The seats are high, providing increased comfort for adults in the paddling position.Position the seats on the floor using the velcro areas located under the seat and on the floor.Stow any bags or equipment into the kayak's rear hatch or attach to the rear deck. The boat is ready to be launched.

Glide performance

Thanks to the rigidity of the dropstitch floor. ”Dropstitch” is a material. 2 layers of PVC are connected by thousands of polyester strands. When inflated to high pressure, these threads tighten and create a rigid volume, which prevents the kayak from loosing its shape.Which is what makes our inflatable kayak extremely rigid but easy to stow in a wheeled bag once deflated.

Care instructions

Remove the seats and slightly deflate the floor to make it easier to rinse out.Rinse the kayak, bottom, and seats with clean water after each use to avoid damage from sand, salt water, and sun.Open the drain plugs located in the middle of the kayak and at the rear. Tip the kayak to empty out the water.

Disassembly and folding

Make sure that the surface you intend to fold the kayak on is clean. Remove the fins.Deflate the side bladders. The valves are located at the back of the kayak. PLEASE NOTE: Do not unscrew the pressure relief valves at the front.Fold the floor.Fold the rest of the kayak in half lengthwise. Flatten the front fin base.Lay the rolled floor on the front end. Roll the kayak to the rear end.Strap the kayak.

Storage

Once dry and clean, the kayak should be stored in a dry and shady place, protected from significant temperature changes. The kayak can be stored folded, but if you have enough space, storing it flat and slightly inflated will extend its life.
