Sole grip

Sole design that has been the subject of extensive research in our laboratories, combined with a specific rubber formulation to optimize grip and traction. Because all needs are different, we always search for the best compromise for muddy and dry terrain.

3 levels of waterproofing

During the waterproofing test, we test 3 levels of waterproofing, i.e. 2,000 flexes (about 2 hours of hiking), 4,000 flexes (about 4 hours of hiking) and 8,000 flexes (about 8 hours of hiking). The MH120 MID kids shoe is waterproof for 4,000 flexes.

Making waterproofing last longer

The waterproofing of shoes is often compromised because water gets in at the collar of the shoe. To keep your feet dry for longer, it is therefore advisable to use a waterproof gaiter or mini-gaiter that will prevent water as well as pebbles, sand, etc. from getting inside through the top. It is advisable to use a waterproof spray several times a year. This restores the original water-repellent properties and prevents staining.

Purchase advice

Let your child try on both boots, standing up, with the socks used for hiking. Check the following 2 areas of comfort: the heel and the front of the foot when going downhill. There should be no compression points when fitting. Gradually increase the amount of time they wear the shoes during the first walks to break the shoes in. On the internet, you can print the pedometer and check your child’s foot length.

Which size should you choose?

For hiking, do not hesitate to choose 1 size above your usual size to ensure optimal comfort when going downhill and prevent your toes from hitting the front of the shoe. Advice: keep your nails short and, before making your descent, check that your lacing prevents your foot from sliding toward the front of the shoe.

Field tests

The comfort of all our shoes is tested when they are tried on and used by typical users under the real-life conditions you will encounter in use. Our Mission Tests bring together the product manager with people who are not affiliated with Quechua to test, develop and approve the products.

Laboratory test

Further laboratory tests are also conducted to validate the following: tearing of eyelets and straps, gluing, toxicology, UV resistance, abrasion of sole and upper components, accelerated aging.

Product testing

Our team of designers is based at the foot of the Mont Blanc, in Haute-Savoie (France). All year round, we create and develop products that are attractive, simple and technologically advanced. We then test them ruthlessly in the field, because we believe that the only way to continually improve is to conduct tests in the real-life conditions that you will experience.
