I ordered this swimsuit for my 6 year old and read it ran small, so I ordered the size for 8 year olds. It was still way too small... The size for the 8 year olds is more for a 4 year old. Not sure what this company is using for sizing kids, but they are WAY off. The suit itself, was made well, outside of the sizing issue.
Get at least 1-2 sizes up for the age
This is a great swimming costume, pretty well made and designed for the price paid for it. We had to go several sizes up to get a costume that fits my child. She is a tall 9 year old and in Decathlon is an age 14 already. I bought this costume quite recently, but what I would say is that there is already some wear and bobbling around the buttock area of the costume. I’m not sure if it’s wear from swimming or washing or even sitting on the side of the pool, but it seems to be happening quite soon compared with other brands. Anyway, other than that this costume serves a purpose at a competitive price.
As everyones else, after checking the size chart, I bought a size 6 for my 5 years old. It fit perfectly my 2 years old... What a joke!!!

Bought age 10y for my slightly small 10 year old. It’s far too small for her. Too small for my average sized 8y old too. I’ve given it to a 4y old and it looks like it’ll fit perfectly.
I ordered the size 10ys . It certainly won’t fit a 10yrs. It looks more like for a 3 years old. Had to return it. Very disappointing.
Good for swimming with school and bright but had to go 2 sizes bigger for my 8year old.
Attractive swimsuit, but the sizing is atrocious. My tall 4 year old has already outgrown the size 10 I bought her! Sort the sizing out Decathlon. She's usually 2 sizes bigger, but 6+ sizes out is ridiculous.
Bought an age six for my very skinny six year old, it just fits my two year old, absolutely ridiculous sizing!

Thank you for your recent feedback. We are sorry to hear about the issue with size of our swimsuit. The age size is the only advice on the product as children may vary a lot from each other. From our experience we usually recommend to go with two size up.
We hope this issues will be reduced by our new collection models starting to arrive from next spring season. They will be made based on new size template, more up to date with the current market trends.
Please do not hesitate to return your swimsuit to the local store or use the online procedure for full refund or exchange.

The reason I gave average is the quality is great but the sizing is very small, ordered age 6 for my 3 year old and it’s still too small! And she isn’t a big child
Bought this in size age 10 for a small 9yr old, It is ridiculously small, I would say this would fit a 5yr old. Sort your sizing out, now I need to go shopping again :(
Tried an age 10 swimsuit on my 8 year old, it was tiny! Got an age 12 which is still stupidly small. Please take this off sale and re do the sizes to stop wasting people's time. Should have read reviews first!!
I bought this swimsuit in size 8 yrs for my 5 year old daughter with the idea of her growing into it. It was too small! My daughter is not overweight, just slightly taller than average.
This is very small in size. I have just bought an age 12 one for my small 8.5 year old. It won’t last much longer.
As others have already noted, the sizing of this swimsuit is ridiculous. Having considered other reviews, I ordered a size 8 years for a just turned 5 year old - it's probably more suited to a 3/4 year old. While Decathlon does provide sizing information, the size 8 years (125-132cm) swimsuit is 4 cm shorter than the suit (age 4-5 years, 104-110 cm) it was supposed to replace. It's a shame as the suit is a nice design but it's impossible to order with any confidence.

Material
Material: 80% polyamide / 20% spandex. Chlorinated water can be harmful to swimsuits that are used repeatedly in swimming pools. The spandex fiber that gives the material its stretch and therefore makes it comfortable, also becomes fragile when in contact with chlorine. If you swim occasionally, this material will be fine for you. If you swim regularly or intensively, opt for a 100% polyester material.
