Confortable and Assuring

Several Decathlon models I tried were quite crammy for my toes forcing me to go one size up, which was not preferable due to the extra length of the shoe. Interestingly the NH500 fit much better. I find it comfortable from the get go, which is nice. When I went trekking with these, I found them re-assuring with good grip and balance. I wasn't sure at first as it did not have the stud pattern, but it came out ok. I did not test them in water as I don't think they are water-proof. The shoe did get wet at the top when I walked through some wet grass momentarily, but it did not soak through to my socks. The sole has a tapering front, which is nice to walk as I found less need to flex the shoe as you take your step. I have not washed my shoe, so I don't know if the color would run like some reviews. So far so good on my socks not taking on any color from the shoe.

A little flimsy

I'm sure that they will be fine, but the lack of stiffness in the footbed has taken a bit of getting used to. I've swapped out the very soft insole and replaced it with a full length stiffer orthotic and that's an improvement, but as walking shoes they aren't really very substantial. I bought them because the sole on my previous pair of walking shoes was worn down and quite slippery. I had expected these to have a more substantial grip, but while they are better, they are still quite slippery.

Wanted to love these

I loved the look of these on the website and they were nicer still when they arrived at my house. However sadly they dont fit as they don’t come in full sizes, only half sizes. Too much space in the front meant the fabric rubbed on my toes and this would probably cause blisters which is not what you want from a walking shoe. Gutted

I found these a very comfortable shoe. I dont use these for hiking but everyday wear. Very comfortable and do not appear to mark easily. Another great product from Decathlon

Rain and snow change it’s colour

Shoes itself great and comfy also I wanted a decent looking walking shoes. Although I knew it’s not waterproof but I assumed I can wear it when it rains and it’s snowy outside. So after yesterday the brown bit somewhere it’s darker and also lighter on the sides I thought when it dries out it will return to normal but it’s not. Also dyed my socks. After few weeks it’s just not a decent looking shoes anymore. Do Not use it when it rains if you want to keep its colour.

Very comfortable, durable shoes, good looking

I am into my second pair and i have already bought a third pair when I am done with the second. I walk daily around 15 to 20 kms around the city at the moment delivering packages and these shoes have proven to be very comfortable, durable (well over 1500 kms done and still plenty of sole life left on the second pair, similar on the first pair with a bit of a top mesh mishap tripping over branches and bushes) and aesthetically nice looking. They were marked as not waterproof but I have had no issue with rain and feet always stayed dry (of course if you would go feet deep in a puddle / pond it might be different but for walking around in light or even heavy rain I had no issue with water getting in). My first pair was the brown one (also my third pair in waiting), my current pair is the discontinued grey and black colour ones. Both very good. If any negative / comment it could be that the brown ones leather bit on the side discoloured slightly on rain exposure but that could be treated, the grey ones have not had this issue (which is nothing anyway). I wiIl buy them again (and done so already). Not so keen on the blue on blue and hope other colour combinations come around even if the brown ones look very smart and favourite so far.

Superb all round comfortable shoe

The most comfortable shoes I've ever owned. Wear them at work all day and fit so well. Must be designed perfectly for my feet - 5 stars

These shoes are incredibly comfortable & grippy for the price, genuinely LOVE these, & was contemplating getting a second pair in a different colour... but have learned the hard way, DON'T GET THEM WET!! As in I was caught in rain & muddier conditions than expected, decided to wash them by hand in the bath, & the colour from the tanned leather just runs like wet paint!! It was EVERYWHERE, & they now look a bit poor, over-used & miss-coloured to say the least. Disappointed, which is a shame as absolutely loved these until this point. Still comfy, light & grippy, but NOT hard wearing it seems.

Excellent ..exceeded expectations

Bought second pair to wear our as first pair is for work....they are so comfortable and look good without the weight of a boot.

Crosscontact sole

The sole design is the product of a lengthy research process conducted in our laboratories, which has been combined with a special rubber formulation to optimize grip and traction. Given the variety of different needs, we always seek the best compromise between muddy off-road trails (like a forest path) and mineral trails (like a coastal path).

Designed for use on country paths

Our hiking boots are designed for use on country trails. Indeed, we choose the components of the sole and upper of our boots and test them to ensure that they are ideally suited to hiking on loose trails (e.g. forest paths made of soil) or rocky trails (e.g. rocky coastal paths). The boots may wear prematurely and feel uncomfortable when used on roads (asphalt). They are not suitable for mountain walking.

Reducing our environmental impact

For these boots, we selected more eco-friendly components: - natural chrome-free leather - Upper (front of the boot, tongue and top of the boot): 100% recycled polyester - tongue lining and collar: 100% recycled polyester - laces and lace loops made of 100% recycled PES - insole: 85% recycled polyurethane foam and 100% recycled polyester lining - outsole: 30% recycled rubber

What is the origin of our leather

We use so-called nubuck leather. It has a soft silky touch. The leather of this boot comes from cowhide. We don't kill any animals to obtain this leather: we only use the waste products from the food industry.

How to maintain your leather boots

After your hikes, we advise you to: - Leave to dry away from any heat source - When the leather is fully dry, scrub vigorously with a stiff brush to remove mud and dirt - Use a crepe or nubuck brush to remove any stains - For stubborn stains, clean with a brush and some lukewarm water - Leave to dry - Brush again with a stiff brush - Spray with a waterproofing spray: this adds luster to the leather and gives the color greater intensity.

Laboratory test

Laboratory tests are conducted to test the following elements: tearing of the eyelets and straps, gluing, toxicology, UV resistance, abrasion of the sole and the components of the upper, accelerated aging. We use these tests to improve the quality of our products and prevent the premature wear of our hiking boots.

How to choose the correct size of hiking boot

Try on both boots while standing, with the socks worn for hiking. Try on several models or sizes if necessary. Check the following 2 comfort points: the base of the heel and the front part of the foot going downhill. There should be no pressure points when trying them on. Feel free to walk around the store. Gradually wear in your boots over the course of a few hikes so that they conform to your feet.

The boot/sock combination plays an important role.

Many things cause blisters when hiking: rubbing, a crease in the sock, moisture, a boot size that is too small or too big, etc. It is therefore important choose the right size and to have socks made of the right material for your hiking boots.

How to choose the size of your hiking socks

You must choose the right sock size for your foot so that there are no additional creases in the sock: either because the sock is too big resulting in too much material around your foot, or because the sock is too small resulting in extra material getting pulled inside the boot.

How to choose the material of your hiking socks

Moisture must be effectively managed when hiking: this is often unavoidable given that we perspire. If your boot is breathable, it will eliminate the moisture of your perspiration: in this case, you need to choose a lightweight sock that is also breathable If your boot is relatively waterproof, you will need to make a different choice to protect yourself from rainwater: you need to go for a sock that will absorb your perspiration and keep it as far away from your foot as possible.

Which pair of socks is suitable for the nh500 boots?

Although this type of footwear offers some breathability, it is not sufficient to eliminate all the moisture of your perspiration. You should therefore choose NH500 low or mid socks: they contain cotton that absorbs moisture and they have a plush loop construction under the sock that keeps the moisture away from your foot. What's more, they are high enough to protect your ankle from the boot. This is an excellent combination for reducing blisters.

Our hiking boots are guaranteed for 2 years. Our commitment? To offer you hard-wearing products you can take with you on all your country walks. Because the products we like the most are those with a story behind them that is still ongoing!

Product testing

Our design team imagined, thought up and designed the Quechua products in France, at the foot of the Mont Blanc. We test them in the field with other hikers to make sure that they are comfortable and durable. This product has been tested by hikers in Brittany. We take them on as many trails as we can, in all weathers. These field tests involve lots of discussions, which are very useful in getting your feedback and planning our future collections!
