Product Customer Reviews

I was able to ride with this jacket in 2 degree Celsius weather, and I was able to stay warm with only a simple base layer underneath. I descended some steep hills close to 50kmh and felt no wind entering through the jacket. In short, this is a great cold weather jacket. For wet rides, I LOVE the extendable rear flap which keeps water off of your shorts. It also has a bright orange color for visibility. Not a drop of water entered through the jacket and the tight fit around the sleeves and waist help to keep water out as well. I live in the US, so I used the sizing chart which meant I sized up by one. I wear a large in the US and an extra large in European sizes . The XL fits me perfectly and I have longer arms, but the length is still great, even when stretched on the bike. Follow the Decathlon sizing chart, as it is very very accurate. I also love the style and quality. The jacket has reflective striping and looks really sharp. I feel quite slick wearing this around. It's even good as a hiking windbreaker. Overall, you will be very pleased with this jacket. I highly recommend it.
Lightweight & fitted. Well made too.
…..that I bought one for my brother for his birthday.
Really happy with it
Great little jacket for those rainy days.
Had 2 of these jackets in 8 months and if you layer undereath it's great in all conditions. However the zipper bottom is made of cheap nasty plastic so has snapped twice. If the zipper held longer than 4 months it would be 5 stars
Teamed this up with a base layer and a long sleeved jersey and it was perfect for a cold, rainy autumn evening ride in Glasgow - very impressed with it so far. Sure there are other more breathable jackets out there - but the spec and description on the website were totally spot on. It is exactly what I though I was buying.
Wore it for 1'hour on the bike in drizzle and would have been better off with no jacket, soaked. On the up side it's a nice jacket and my be O.K for keeping wind off, not water proof as rain wicks through.
It ok for light rain but after using this bikepacking across scotland i can say im never wearing it again.I woudlnt like to get caught out in this going to the local shops. 10 mins after wearing the sweat builds up that much inside its as wet as not having one on. And after about 30 mins of rain the water just wicks threw the fabric anyway. The reflective stripes on the left hand should have really been on the right hand closest to oncoming traffic becasue when you have gripped your bars they are facing into the bushes. Maybe been designed for Eu ? The placement of the pockets are poor and soon as you put a rucksack on you can no longer access anything.
Waterproof but not breathable - very hot and sweaty. An hours ride left me sweaty mess with sweat running down the inside of the jacket. It keeps the rain out but then so does a black bag...
Very good for the price
Warm, felt dry enough, not too sweaty.
Breathable, waterproof, good fit, packs up reasonably small - what more could I ask?
Has been a good jacket so far, even in some heavy rain. Quite good thermally too with just a couple of thin layers underneath in v cold weather.
Used for first time today, fully waterproof and wind proof, which was needed today.

Main fabric
- 100% Polyester cationic
Yoke

Membrane/coating
- 100% Polyurethane
Fabric waterproofing
A fabric's waterproofing is determined by measuring its resistance to the pressure exerted by a water column, measured in mm (test based on ISO 811 standard). The higher the pressure, the more waterproof the fabric. The RC500 jacket's waterproofing stats: 8,000 mm before washing, 5,000 mm after 5 washes.
Jacket waterproofing
It's not just the fabric that's important for the product's waterproofing; the construction is just as big a deal. The seams on the RC500 are sealed and we have chosen to use the waterproof YKK AquaGuard® zipper.
Fabric breathability (ret)
To determine a fabric's breathability we measure its evaporative resistance or RET (based on standard ISO11092). The lower its resistance, the more it lets water vapor produced by the body escape, therefore the more breathable it is. • RET <6: Extremely breathable, suitable for most intense workouts • RET 6 to 12: Very breathable, designed for moderate exercise • RET 12 to 20: Moderately breathable, not enough for exercise • RET >20: little breathability, unsuitable for exercise
Membrane or coating?
The RC500 jacket's fabric has a membrane. The membrane is a type of very thin micro-perforated plastic film (polyurethane) that makes the fabric both waterproof and breathable. It is also very supple, lighter, more durable and more breathable than a fabric with a coating. A coating is like a layer of paint on the underside of the fabric to make it waterproof. It costs less than a membrane, and requires a lining to protect it.
Fold-up flap
As you know, if the road is wet, it can be very unpleasant getting your shorts covered in spray from the rear wheel. To solve this problem, we've equipped the RC500 jacket with a retractable flap at the base of the back. It can be discreetly folded into the back of the jacket, and is very practical when needed. It goes without saying that adding a mudguard to the rear of your bike adds even more protection against splashes.
Cut
CLASSIC FIT: Fitted and comfortable. This timeless cut is perfect for your longer bike rides, whether in the saddle or having a break. This fit is tighter than our "Relaxed Fit," but not as tight as our "Pro Fit."

Product testing
Our team of designers and cycling enthusiasts is based in Lille, in northern France, not far from Flanders and its legendary cycling routes. To get this rainproof jacket just right, we tested it all over Flanders throughout the winter: we believe that only by subjecting our products to real world conditions, like the ones you experience on your bike, can we continuously improve them.
