Product Customer Reviews

I've never had a down coat before. this is my first. I'm really happy with it. I haven't used it hiking or camping yet, but I've warn it in some cold weather. Specifically waiting to pick up my kid at school. The other parents looked really cold. i was nice and warm. My only down side (pun intended) is that when i sit in a chair in the cold, since the down gets compressed, my back is cold. there's no isupation when the insulation is flattened. i don't know if this is a common thing with down jackets, but it's an issue with this one. Makes me feel the need to use a pad on my back when I sit in a chair.
In order to test the effectiveness of a winter jacket I always test with only a thin t-shirt underneath. This enables me to test its effectiveness without the additional effect of layering. Today was 37 degrees with 10-15mph sustained winds. I sat on a hillside with no windbreaks for 30 minutes. (I want to know if a jacket will keep me warm with no physical activity.) This jacket provided superior warmth! I never had to put on the hood which would’ve made me even warmer. It’s definitely a winter coat and it would be too much coat for a warmer temp day. The fabric is very lightweight (which is why I purchased it) and I wouldn’t wear this coat while trekking through a wooded area where it might snag and tear. It would be perfect once you’ve arrived at camp. It would also make a great jacket for a cold winter walk or watching an outdoor winter sporting event where you are sitting and need to stay warm. This jacket is a great deal at this price point! (I own winter jackets at double this price point.). I highly recommend it!
Very warm down jacket, with good cuffs and hood. Quite stylish colour and design.
The jacket hit the right note for the beginning of July - entering mid-winter and those low teens degC. I'd purchased on line (and collected as 'contact-less pickup) but it proved to be too small and, as soon as lockdown was finished, I popped down to my local shop and exchanged it for the large size. That was better - proper arm length, stretch across the shoulders and plenty below the waist. No issue with changing. I've used it for outside in the air-type activities - walking, etc. it's simply too hot inside the jacket if you're inside the car or the mall. It will push down into a small plastic shopping bag for handling in the car, etc. Otherwise it's full-size and may get damaged if simply hanging around. Equally as good it came with 50% discount. Would expect to pay 3-4 times as much for an equivalent jacket from a big name brand or cottage manufacturer. So happy with this purchase.
Excuse the pun in the title given it is mostly down insulation, but this jacket just plain great! Whether standing around outside, walking the dogs or beating into the wind of a winter storm, it keeps me warm. The side zippered vents are a nice touch to help keep from getting overheated and damp - something you want to avoid in winter. Sadly I snagged the last XL in stock in Ottawa, so hopefully there are more on the way!

Great jacket if you are looking for a stylish, warm layer to wear during the shoulder seasons. However I would keep it that, as a stylish jacket. Wear it around town, but not to the mountains where there are trees with branches. The material isn't all that durable, and snags very easily. Not for technical use.

Perfect size and inside pocket to use for mid-layer with a hardshell jacket warm and lightweight and also have good features!
Bought this for my trip to Nepal where I was going over 3 high passes and summited 3 peaks (max altitude 5600m). This jacket was brilliant, very, very warm, but lightweight and packed down to a small size thanks to it's built in pocket storage. Particularly good on a very cold overnight camp at 4800m, a pre dawn hike up to 5400m to see the sunrise and a hike up to 5600m to see the sun set on Everest. Extremely cold during these times but the jacket kept me comfortable and warm. Now wearing it back home in Scotland during this current cold spell and it's ideal. Highly recommend.
Decathlon stand for good quality, and are a brand I return to again and again. HOWEVER Unfortunately this jacket does not come up to standard. WITHIN ONE WEEK, and after a trek, a huge tear was caused when the jacket brushed against a thorn bush. Literally just brushed against it. The down filling started to spill out of it, like a snow storm. I persevered, and hand stitched the garment. I returned to Decathlon, with a view to speaking to customer service, and COULD NOT GET CONTACT DETAILS FOR CUSTOMER SERVICE. I like the jacket, and continued to wear it for walk. Within another two weeks, on a trek in the woods, ANOTHER TEAR APPEARED, and down started to spill out again. This jacket is £109 and it has no strength, AND IS NOT OF MERCANTABLE QUALITY. I’m sure it would be fine if it never touched anything at all, and by that I mean, it lived in a vacuum, in outer space. It is warm It fits nicely However the material will not withstand any brush against thorn or stone etc. I am disappointed to say the quality of the outer layer is poor. I am waiting to hear from customer service, who have my contact details. I am happy to give them feedback, and return the now useless product. I am not asking to a refund. I continue to use Decathlon as I like the brand, however this item should receive less than one star.
Great jacket for the price. Pretty warm too.
Very good,I like
We bought these jackets on the recommendation of a Canadian outdoor person. We have used them for over a month now during the previous colder weather in Mancheter. The jackets are warm with a good fit and well made with excellent zips and reinforced wear areas. They are exceptionally good for the price. We also have jackets from Rab & Mountain Hardware to compare.
Perhaps not finished as well as other brands. Will have to see what the longevity is. But this jacket is warm as toast. Does everything I want it to do. Very good

Feather origin
Our traceability system means we can guarantee the origin of the feathers, in compliance with our commitment to use responsibly sourced materials. Our suppliers are committed to using only feathers that come from ducks that are bred for their meat and are plucked after slaughtering. http://developpement-durable.decathlon.com/documents-et-rapports/documents/
Fill power of the down/feather filling
This 85% down / 15% feather down jacket has a guaranteed fill power equal or above 660 CUIN (European standard). The fill power is a measure of the down's thermal insulation capacity and its potential to "trap" air. Down with higher fill power (a higher CUIN number) takes up more space, trapping more air and providing greater thermal insulation.
Weight of the filling
XS: 6.7 oz S: 7.1 oz M: 7.4 oz L: 7.9 oz XL: 8.3 oz 2XL: 8.8 oz
The advantages of a duck down and feather filling
The down's long-lasting fill power gives it 3 important qualities for hiking: - Thermal insulation thanks to the air trapped in the down and feathers - Ultra-lightweight: to provide equal warmth, feathers are lighter than synthetic padding. This saves even more weight in your backpack - Ultra-compressible
Care instructions for jackets filled with down and feathers
The down jacket can be worn throughout the winter and will certainly need to be washed. Follow the instructions by clicking the link below:

In the event of rain
The fabric used for this down jacket is water-repellent. It makes drops of water run off the surface, which delays the time it takes for water to get inside the down jacket, giving you time to get out of the rain. The shoulders and hood of the down jacket, more exposed to the rain, are waterproof. However, we advise you to wear a waterproof jacket over the down jacket in case of prolonged exposure to rain.
How to reactivate the water-repellent property?
Follow the guide: https://www.quechua.co.uk/advice/how-do-you-restore-water-repellent-properties-your-jacket-a_86426 And use the care product: Reactivating water repellency https://www.decathlon.fr/eco-wash-in-proof-250-ml-id_8408883.html Re-activates the water repellency of the fabric and optimizes the performance of your clothing throughout its life.
Reducing the loss of feathers
The main stitching of the compartments containing the down and feather are heat-sealed to prevent the loss of feathers

Product testing
All our down jackets are laboratory tested with 3 mph wind, worn as a 3rd layer on a thermal mannequin (over a long-sleeved T-shirt and fleece). Their level of thermal insulation is measured on a scale of 1 to 5, so that you can make the choice that best suits your use.
