A hidden gem. With every penny!

I was a little concerned about how good this jacket could be at such a low price point. I tested the jacket on an overnight backpacking trip with temps down to the low 40’s. I was warm and comfortable. The jackets isn’t real thick but I couldn’t feel the wind come through it. I was impressed. I would’ve gladly paid $80.00 for this jacket. It’s definitely worth it. If your getting backpacking gear together and trying to stay on budget then you’ve found your jacket. Seriously! Oh and it folds into its left pocket. Which I used as a pillow.

Great Value

I normally wear a medium to large jacket (size 40 USA). Ordered a medium when I read the sleeves are long. Fits a little tight all the way around--would not be able to wear fleece under it. Not many extras on this but the overall quality is excellent. I recommend it. Wore it in the Black Hills down to 30 degrees wind chill. Below that you would need a shell over it. Long sleeves are nice to put over your hands!

Pocket and waist

Pocket is get caught in the zipper. Really frustrating to fight with the zipper every time I want to use my pockets. 2nd is the waist is a little tight for a medium. It has a draw cord which is great but does starts off too small.

Slim Fit And Nice Materials

I am 6'2" and slim build w/ 32" waist. The Medium is a comfortable but snug fit with a single base layer. Even so, the arms are plenty long, it sits quite low on the waist, and has a generous neck up top. It's like a Medium chest with Large everything else. For me it's perfect.

Great light insulation

Great little jacket to throw under a shell when it gets colder. Very light and comfy

Sizes are not accurate

This does not look like the picture, I purchased a large and in comparison to other coats I have bought I would class it as a small. Tight round the arms, chest and belly as well as short fit. Very thin, very poor quality. Completely out of proportion. Will be returning at my own expense!

Good product for price

This is warm enough and can be warm with or without layers underneath meaning it's versitile for a number of weather temperatures. Not sexeist looking jacket but no issues at these prices.

Less Padding !

I have the hooded version of this jacket and like it a lot. Therefore, when this version was for sale at £14.99 i jumped at the chance to buy another. Unfortunately, there appears to be less padding/insulation in my new purchase compared to the previous jacked.

No better than a bin bag!

Don’t buy this. It may be cheap but it’s terrible quality.

A lightweight inexpensive jacket

I would say the is a great jacket to stuff in your daysac on days when it is likely to turn cold,or you could be standing around for long periods. Under a waterproof outer you would be toasty! For the price you can't go wrong.

No complaints so far

Amazing value

Lightweight, packable, shower resistant and remarkably warm given how thin it is.

Excellent

Really impressed with this jacket. It acts as an outer layer on slightly warmer days or a layering piece on colder days. Bought for £15 in the sale, and for that price or even the original price the item is excellent quality. Not washed it yet though.

Great value lightweight warmth

I haven't had this long but having bought it in the sale for an incredible £14.99 I immediately employed it for the next day's sub-zero commute. It is comfortable and light and is fitted rather than boxy. It has two external hadn't-warmer pockets and that's it. I do have warmer jackets but not at this price. I bought a medium as the large was a little too gappy on the sides and back but the downside is I can only really fit a base layer and slim-isa fleece underneath. Beware though I tried on two mediums and the size differed slightly (so I bought the slightly larger one). It is pretty warm and very comfortable and packs up fairly small (into one of its pockets). To be honest it is good value at full price but at the sale price? Of course, I will have to see how it lasts with repeated washing and also how it copes in rain (it has a waterproof coating) as I haven't worn it in the rain yet. The pocket zips have snagged once or twice but then so do Montane ones - repeatedly. I will update if this becomes a problem but they seem to be okay. It's my new favourite jacket and there's a hooded one for those who want that for a few quid more. Excellent value and very good performance plus looks okay in my opinion, too.

So handy

Use this as a cold weather cycling jacket, do cosy and nicely packable

Additional Product Information

Composition

Main fabric

  • 100% Polyamide

Main lining

  • 100% Polyamide

Padding

  • 100% Polyester cationic

How warm is this padded jacket?

This padded jacket, when worn as a 3rd layer, has a temperature rating of 23°F that was certified during a standardized test in a thermal chamber. The model wears a synthetic long-sleeved T-shirt and a light fleece underneath. It works with a simulated 3 mph wind. We also tested this model under "static" conditions; its temperature rating is 41°F in this case.

Want to know more about the fill?

We use 100% polyester padding (70% recycled). The fill is made from silicon-coated spiral fibers that make it highly compressible and highly durable. Despite its low thickness and light weight, the air trapped inside gives it high insulation properties. It retains its warmth even when wet.

Do you know why the inner lining of your padded jacket is gray?

Because the fabric we use reduces CO2 emissions by 40%. The fabric used is innovative because it mixes a self-dyed black thread and an undyed thread. Compared to a conventional dyeing process, this process reduces by: • 66% fine particle emissions (PM2.5) • 74% Eutrophication of fresh water • 68% eutrophication of sea water

Additional sustainable development information

On the Trek 100 black and Trek 100 blue models, the outer fabric uses a clean process known as dope dyeing (the thread is dyed before the yarn is woven) reducing CO2 emissions by 36% More information: http://sustainability.decathlon.com/

Durable materials

This polyamide fabric that uses 20 denier thread can withstand 20,000 abrasion cycles. Martindale test, 12947-2 standard Outer: 100% polyamide fabric 1.4 oz/sqm, 20 denier Lining: 100% polyester fabric 1.2 oz/sqm, mix of 15 to 20 denier threads

Water repellent property of component (not to be confused with waterproofing)

A fabric is water-repellent when it allows water slide over its surface without seeping in. This prevents the fabric from swelling and keeps it lightweight and warm. The fabric is made water-repellent by treating its outer surface; however, this property may deteriorate with use. We recommend that you restore it after each wash

Pfc-free water-repellent treatment

On the Trek 100 padded jacket, the water-repellent treatment doesn't contain PFCs (perfluorocarbons), i.e. it is PFC-Free. PFCs are used to make a fabric water-repellent, but they are very toxic for the environment and people. By replacing the PFCs with other technologies that we are developing to enable the same level of performance, we are helping to reduce this environmental impact.

How to restore water-repellent properties?

Follow the guide! We recommend that you use the care product to treat and restore water-repellent properties

The environmental impact of the product is calculated based on its entire lifecycle and using different indicators. Product testing

In November 2017, 6 backpackers (4 men and 2 women) with part of the Forclaz design team tested this padded jacket for 4 days in the Southern French Alps. We were then able to make the final modifications and validate it for backpacking use.

Storage instructions

In order to preserve all the padding's fill power, store your padded jacket on a hanger rather than stuffing it in its pouch!
