Warm and packable, not *that* small of sizing

Seeing this recommended as an alternative to other brands' more expensive lightweight downs I picked it up before a spring backpacking trip. It sure was a lot warmer than my years-old synthetic jacket which has lost its puff. It survived packing down and re-lofting several times, and I think having a down hood really ups the warmth. Just this jacket and a thin baselayer kept me pretty comfortable around 50 degrees at night, when I needed at least an extra layer with my old synthetic jacket. I would say I was on the edge between small and medium via the size chart, but everyone including Decathlon insists the sizing is ultra small, so I went with medium. Well, I had to cinch it down all the way at the waist to keep in the warmth. It might still be the right size to fit layers underneath, but as a trim guy who often buys XS sizes from American retailers, I probably could've gotten a small and been just fine with a bit of a better fit.

Great deal

Comfortable & packable & warm puffy for bargain price. I’m 5’11” 175 and ordered x-large which is comfortable & roomy for under layers. These products run small so size up your order.

I love this jacket

I managed to get a Mountain Hardware Phantom hoodie for $125 because I thought I had to have one due to all the product reviews. In general, it just another jacket that isn’t amazing and not sure how in the world it’s worth $350 considering my new Forclaz Trek 100 weighs nearly same, feels sturdier, has all the same features and, more importantly, I would assert that the Forclaz is warmer. For the price and, given the quality construction, there is no reason person shouldn’t buy one of these (or more). This is my new spring/summer backpacking as well as tool around town go-to jacket.

So close to perfect!

You'd be challenged to find a better jacket with these features at this price. I ordered a few of these jackets in different colors and sizes. For my 47" chest, 2XL fit the best. Color just depends on your personal preference....the Navy Blue was a bit shiny for me and my dogs white hair would stick to it. I'm really happy with the Sepia Red (orange) looks awesome and has more of a matte finish. Zippers work well, stitching looks flawless and the hood is cut to trap most body heat. However, I would gladly pay an extra $40 if it had a hood cinch cord and a breast pocket. As for performance, I wore it with just a T-Shirt in 24F snowy weather, and was toasty warm. I'd imagine a long sleeve merino wool tee would get you down to the mid teens. Customer Service was a five-star experience. Free Return Policy and Cassie quickly replied to all of my concerns. In summary, great jacket, superb value, awesome Customer Service.

Forclaz Trek 100 Mens Jacket

Just received my new puffy jacket. Superior quality for the price. I liked it so much I will be ordering one for my wife as well as a synthetic version for me.

Very rare too good to be true product

If I could give this 6 stars out of 5 I would. The value here is off the charts. I challenge anyone to find an 800 to 850 fill down Jacket that is even within 100 dollars of this one. It's impossible to find another jacket with these specs for under 200 let alone 100. Aside from the specs this thing is the most comfortable jacket I have ever owned. It's the only hacker I have ever owned that doesn't feel restrictive around my shoulders/bust but yet doesnt look baggy. It literally feels like you arent wearing anything but yet you are warm. It's a strange feeling because of how light it is. This jacket even went on sale at one point for 50 bucks so I bought 2 more. Haha! Dont understand how this high of fill power can be sold at this price. Have never discovered a product that is this good of a value compared to the competition.

Most comfy jacket I own

The jacket is very warm and the loft right out of the box was excellent! I double checked the seams, zippers, and all surfaces of the jacket and didn't see or feel any faults or loose feathers. It is exceptionally comfortable and easy to move around in. The cuffs are elastic and the hem is cinchable if you're thin to keep the wind out. It's not waterproof so I recommend a waterproof shell over it in prolonged wet conditions or a downpour. Love the pockets and zipper garage and the hood is very soft and form fitting which I feel helps it follow your head when you turn to look at something. Going to have to put the product through its paces to get a better feel for its performance but so far it's a 10/10 for me (especially compared to other jackets in this price range) and definitely going to find use both day to day and backpacking. Note: this jacket runs small. If you're a T-shirt size medium you should get the large of this jacket for standalone use and possibly the extra large if you're going to layer things under it (I may just end up getting 1 of each for these reasons. It's a darn good jacket).

Inexpensive down jacket

Good Warmth, weight, and price. Sub par stitching. Already have loose strands throughout the jacket.

Way small

Exceptional quality. Runs very small. Normally wear an XL in the us, so I bought an XXL and I can't wear anything under it besides a base layer. The chest and torso are fine, but the arms are extremely narrow. I got excited and cut the tag, so it's too late to exchange for an XXXL

Nice jacket but bad sleeves

The jacket is light, has good loft and the stitching/sewing seems to be good quality - just as good as my more expensive down jacket from Patagonia’s. The design of the sleeve is bad. There is an elastic cuff but it is tucked and sewn to the end of sleeves essentially folding the sleeves. They should have left the sleeves with the elastic cuff at the end instead of folding it. Additionally, the sleeve length runs long. I’m 5”10 with above average wingspan and it’s still an inch long. You can view video reviews of this jacket online and notice the long sleeve length on those people too. Watch for the tucked sleeve at the end too. There is an elastic cuff not visible to the eye. Overall, I would still recommend it for the quality and price but wish they would update the sleeves and an inside chest zipper pocket would be nice.

Great product, sizing a bit misleading

So let me preface this by saying that I love this jacket. However, the sizing is a bit confusing. I originally ordered a men’s large. When I received it the outer paper tag said US L/ EU XL but the inner fabric tag said US M/ EU L. I tend to believe the inner tag because I fit into US large clothing whether it is slim fit or not. I ordered an XL and it fit perfect. So I would say if you are buying from the US you should order a size up what you would normally order. Decathalon should probably fix this in the future though because it’s a bit confusing that the 2 tags say different sizes

Thanks for the review! We're definitely looking closely and how we indicate sizes here at Decathlon in order to make buying simpler and more straightforward

Nice inexpensive hiking camp jacket

Nice inexpensive hiking camp jacket. I would order it again.

Standard Down Jacket with some issues

I originally had to return the first jacket I ordered because of poor down filling in both sleeves. There wasn't enough down filling or the down had already prior to purchasing migrated to one side of the baffles so it left cold spots on both sleeves. It was a pretty easy return process, I'm just still waiting for the full refund. Shipping was fast too. The new one which doesn't have as bad as a problem with the fill (after throwing it in the dryer on low heat with some dryer balls, it really puffed up) but then I noticed there was some bad stitching near the main zipper of the new jacket. If you are looking for a cheaper jacket then this maybe the one for you, it actually keeps you warm but make sure to inspect your jacket fully before committing. You maybe sacrificing some quality for the low price.

Great jacket

I love this jacket Not only is it Inexpensive but is also extremely warm I had the chance to take the jacket with me when I went camping the high temperature of the day was 32゚ and the low was only 9 with the right layers underneath the jacket I was kept toasty warm Compare the price of this jacket to that of the mountain hardware ghost whisperer. For the same money you can but several of these jackets to only 1 of the Mountain Hardware jackets. I only wish there was a way to cinch the hood a little tighter other than this jacket is fantastic

The best so far

Love this down jacket. warm, fit, and comfortable. very good value for money. stand out among others. very happy purchase.

How warm is this padded jacket?

This padded jacket, worn as a 3rd layer, has been certified for an active comfort temperature of 23°F during a standardized test in a thermal chamber. The model is wearing a synthetic long-sleeved T-shirt and a light fleece underneath. It works with a simulated 3 mph wind. We have also tested this model in "static" mode; the comfort temperature is 41°F in this case.

The advantages of a duck down and feather fill

The fill power of down has 3 advantages for mountain sports: - Thermal insulation provided by the air trapped in the down and feathers - Ultra-lightweight: Down is lighter than synthetic fill while offering the same degree of warmth. This saves even more weight in your backpack - Ultra-compressible

How to measure the fill power of a down and feather fill?

The fill power is a measure of the down's thermal insulation capacity and its potential to "trap" air. It is expressed in CUIN (cubic inches). Down with a higher fill power (higher CUIN number) will occupy more space, trap more air, and provide greater thermal insulation. For this down jacket with its 85% down/15% feather fill, the fill power is guaranteed to be 800 CUIN or more (European standard).

* what is rds certification?

Our traceability system lets us guarantee the origin of the feathers in accordance with our commitment to use responsible materials. Our suppliers commit to using only feathers from ducks raised for their meat and plucked after slaughter. We have been awarded RDS certification (Responsible Down Standard) by a 3rd-party organization.
